Small question what was the idea behind putting plane production for Russia who now can only make 3 planes per airfield in a general point? I don't really see the point. It seems really disadvantageous to lose a general point on something which appears to be a essential part of the game when it could be used on something else. Not to mention both of the airfield and helipad cost 1000 each. When Say USA can make 4 planes and helicopter production from one building for 1000 AND doesn't need to waste a general point The same goes with china as well. I assume this is supposed to be some sort of balance thing but Russia is air disadvantageous as it is with the older airfield. (Note I do not mind having to spend 2000 for the whole thing being built at once. Even if I only get 3 planes Now I don't mind, however. Now I have to build twice. What confuses me is the fact it is in a general point.)


TL;DR: I want the russia airfield we had before. It was just fine

Balance:
Russia's ground forces are supposed to be among the most powerful compared to the other factions and the Russian airforce, while expensive, is a
force to be reckoned with as well. Throw those two things together and you've got one hell of a powerful adversary...TOO powerful as we thought.

Faction design:
Russia is more of a ground assault faction. Their airforce may be very capable but unlike the USAF, it's not necessarily the very bread and butter of their entire war effort. They use their powerful planes in a more supportive way. They're less 'dependent' on planes than, say for example, the US. Helicopters on the other hand are much more important.

Convenience:
Most people used to build their airfields because they wanted one thing: Hinds. Some of them didn't even use the actual planes that much, so why would they want to build this huge, vulnerable building even though they only want a helicopter which could be contructed from a much smaller building? If you WANT to use planes, unlock them, if you don't, just build a helipad.

Uniqueness:
Three runways may be less than four runways, yeah, but Russia's new airfield is easier to place than the old one which was an insane waste of precious space. Due to the layout of the new airfield, all three planes can take off at the same time, allowing them to respond much faster and making them a lot easier to manage, especially in huge swarms. It's a unique concept and no other faction has anything like it.

PS: It's actually called VVS, not WS. And I like it because I made the cameo.

I personally found berkuts being the only good counter russia has vs raptors before grumbles and even then grumbles can be taken out with little sacrifice unless spammed. And to be clear I like the 3 lane airfield idea It sounds like a great balance idea. Sort of a sidegrade.

PS: Since when was russia helicopter heavy? I barely used them because they were far to easily countered and it wasted money. Seeing how expensive they are you can't really make more than a few (unless it gets to turtle city and your swimming in infinity credits) I always thought Russia was infantry oriented with tanks and air being support seeing how you have all those paradrop powers and strong infantry

This is the point numbers wink.gif Russia is heavy on the ground, air IS support. Apart from that, for example Frogfoot bombers are IMO more devastating than anything else, with upgrades anyway.

I usually don't even bother with the airfield, whenever I face a USA opponent I usually use tunguskas and grumbles.

the thing is.....Russian planes are at least at the same destructive level as US planes, and IIRC a problem in the last version was how Russia could get airsuperiority, the general point make Russia still able to get air superiority, but at a cost

besides, if we are going to have all sides with the same airfield, build at the same tech level, and everything the same, soon we will have people waiting for GLA to have a giant super powerfull tank at the same level as the overlord or sentinel and things like that
