It's actually worse because it's tankier + Damage type is Comanche_Vulcan post Drone weapon upgrade at T1.

That may be true in terms of damage done, but at least the dozer can't spam towers/ fortifications like the ECA one can. You will only have to deal with one or two generally.

Try it, its just as spammable. Reason also that USA Drone Hive Rush is more potent is that you force the first WF unit from the enemy to be a tank to kill the dozer (AA can't kill the Dozer in time, 1 Quad even unless the dozer has barely started building it). As the USA, you are able to abuse this by sending a forward Humvee and immediately upgrade it to TOW, so while your opponent has 0 counters to your TOWvee (Tanks are terrible vs TOWvees, you want AA units), you also have to simultaneously deal with the Drone Hive as its going to apply pressure to you. Whats even worse is that USA isn't immediately out of the game if this rush fails, since their T0 doesn't rely heavily on map control due to their mobility, and ECA's T0 roster means it can't pull off this sort of strategy. That means if you build AT infantry ahead of time just for the dozer rush, your dozer can even just be sent forward and act as a distraction/suicide where you go for regular vee play and outmaneuver your opponent because they overinvested in AT Infantry too early (you can't go AT infantry and have an immediate first unit from the WF at optimal WF timing, impossible due to amount of money you'll have available).


USA Guard Tower Rush is better than ECA due to TOWvees covering weakness of the rush which is a tank (Gepards/Lynxes/Bloodhounds can't do that), doesn't mean you lose even if the dozer is dead due to flexibility of USA, and snowball potential is ridiculously superior in comparison to successful ECA Rush that is fortified by Gun Turrets and such. Also remember US doesn't even have to go for this since they're such a flexible faction, so you might prepare for a Drone Hive rush, and that preparation goes to waste if they scout you with a Recon Drone (USA has earlier scouting than ECA and this is incredible for a turret rush, as dog scouting is too delayed for this sort of rush in order to perform effective scouting, so you'll be doing the turret rush blindly as ECA).

I've been able to rush Knjaz and Xattus easily and apply heavy pressure on them respectively in 2v2s on Lone Eagle (No River). Now imagine that on a map that is the size of Lagoon, Natural Threats or Forgotten Forest/Spring, where the distance between players is even smaller.

This is one of the alternatives I tried and it was quite effective as well regarding Drone Hive Rush. Main thing is that it takes a little more time so a little bit risky, but it does work nicely if you start off with Veteran Company as your R1 GP mainly and spam Rangers/Missile Defenders (you want Humvees for support obviously but Barracks is nice for immediate pressure in the front lines with forward production while having a WF in the back to defend from T0 AA harassment).

^This is assuming that USA has powerplants that are as armoured the solar reactor.

Power cost is one thing, another thing is that you can trick the drone to spawn its little hives then attack between the reload time.Another thing that people forget is that the guard tower has an aoe, the drone hive doesnt, so you'll counter it with mass Infantry a tad bit better.

One proposed counter to this strategy: Just attack the American base in full force. If they are pouring resources into forward expansions with all these drone hives, hit their power, and strike their home base. Doesn't sound impossible to me unless its some really crappy closed in map with barely any room.

I'm fine with firebase going away. Because Protector just recieved a big boost.

Drone hive is so good. No more having to spend a point of pathfinders to deal with infantry trashing the defenses at minimum range.

But AP rounds for extra damage seems a bit...generic. GLA already have that. How about changing it to laser guns? Same damage output, just cosmestic change.

Not sure if it isn't a good thing, consider that this is a high tech weapon platform and not a generic pillbox. Like AT drone with plasma torches.

But I agree, when there are 10 of these around it will become silly just looking at all those dancing rapid fire laser. Something else is better.
