ROTR Random balance, Gentool

I know with zh, gentool allows the armies to be visible at game start.
How about adding that capability with rotr + gentool?

Or is it something that the gentool maker needs to add?

Or how about we just make rotr show the random faction you get, if its possible to code (im sure it is, its already done with gentool)

Since most pvp players yell the factions at start anyways

Shock Wave does that iirc. So it's possible to do in ROTR as well.

Id like to know who would not want it.. cuz in gentool u can still turn it off, so that other player will not see the army.. but most people would like to see the opponents army, especially on large maps.

I wouldnt want it, It would force my foe to waste money on scouts that can see half the map and give me more resources to choose from.And when they come to see what I have in my base I can see what faction they are.

I'm against it as well.
If I choose random, I can get the faction that I am not good with. So at least I am rewarded by the fact that my opponent doesn't know who I am.

Yeah, it gives a reason to use the Randomn function in competitive games - you are shooting yourself in the foot, but at least you gain an extra pinkie in return biggrin.gif

If only there were 6 factions (or 5 + a general), one could play Russian (*so punny am I*) Roulette with the Randomn Function. But in 2.0 you'll be able to play the AKM version of the Roulette tongue.gif

I think this is wrong terms when player choose random faction only for opponents distraction and hope that he will get right faction and will get advantage. I really against this dice games and thats my opinion. If you good enough to play by all factions then welcome to choose random and play. You ask me why I'm for open random. It's just because of different BO vs different factions. Your scout need some time to reach enemies base anyway so before he reach it you need to know how to place initial buildings and what units start to build. The most common situation when you send scout and eca chettah destroy it simply because you do not know about it and cannot prevent it because you need to see which command center placed there and when you already see it it's too late to drive back coz cheetah will get your scout simply because it faster. Next moment vs GLA. If you play vs this faction you need to set waypoint for your scout not to his base center but to map sides to see in which side first tunnel builder is running to prevent build at least one tunnel or maybe 2 if you will able to drive to other side of the map fast enough. Also it's not reccomend to drive deep into GLA base because first combat bike will get your slower scout (-400$ from russia very easy). When you vs USA and china you send scout straight to their base to see what buildings they open first (usa). Or simply you need counterrecon to see where chinees LP stoped to mark this place coz they are invisible. Vs Russia there is less need for scout especcially if you are fsst faction which will get map control anyway and will see what russian is doing by simpky driving into their base by their fast units. When you do not know which faction you faces that give unfair advantage to your opponent and dont say thats hard because you can get bad faction for you. We all know that there are people which can equal play by all factions. This do not mean that I need to force play everyday to learn play by all factions. I want to enjoy by playing my favorite faction without unfair disadvantage when I simpky do not know what to build against random player if this info is closed for me for some time. Besides 2.0 version will able to hide which subfaction you are play before enemies scout reach your CC. In ECAs case this will be impossible without scout losing because cheetah

Kinda true, i only buys scouts if I don't know what the faction is, or if its gla/eca .. I usually scout with units.
But a checkbox in the lobby would be nice, that enables the feature or disables.. since in high level games, depending on the map, you kindof need to know if you need to play more aggressive or defensive.
