Has anyone seen it?
What did you think? I thought it was amazing. Even if you've not familiar with the old series, the new one can still be enjoyed. I also found it odd how it starts off sad and finishes with a happy ending. Seems unlike most films to me. -------------------- |

It was a very good movie...but I still like Firefly and Battlestar Galactica better.

The newest film is a good solid science fiction movie. I was particularly fond of all the point defense weapons shown, as well as the humor used (some more obvious than others)
As long as you don't take things too seriously, you'll probably like this movie. If you hate star trek, this won't change anything. If you love it and can speak klingon, then you need to get laid bro. |

While everyone else here has clearly said it, this movie is quite the amazing movie. Good strong science fiction, many funny quotes and references to the original series. Good rebirth of Star Trek.

Very well done movie, as others have mentioned.
No more technobabble and more seriousness put into it. I can only imagine what the Sovereign class would look now... -------------------- Proud producer of the forum family |

Even though there's a number of things which I did not like about this movie (mostly illogical things and unnecessary inconsistencies which could've been fixed easily) I really cannot say it was bad in any way. It may not really be Star Trek anymore, but it is still awesome. Also, I have even higher hopes for future sequels, as some of the forced sillyness in this movie probably will not appear.
@ Thez, it may be more serious as a movie, but for anyone who understands a bit of science it sadly is a bit less serious. -------------------- |

Though I haven't really watched any TOS, I thought that the movie is excellent and is a good rebirth of TOS. The only thing I'm not fond of is the shuttlebay; it shouldn't carry 30+ shuttlecrafts, but oh well, it's the alternate universe.

The shuttle bay probably takes up most of the lower body section of the Enterprise, with main engineering being above it cause that is where the warp cores are. -------------------- |

I must say, as a movie itself was truly amazing and even though I'm not a Star Trek fan or ever watched any of the series ever, consider me one from now on thanks to this movie

I may be one who took the movie too seriously but I still hated the plot as raven said there were silly things in the plot they could have changed and made it seem more pluasiable which is kinda what killed the movie for me sorry but its not scifi to me :/ just futuristic pure fantasy
if the plot was fixed and more of the villains view point was shown this movie would have been perfect for me as star trek fan and a science fiction lover. This post has been edited by cryptkeeper: 9 Jun 2009, 1:34 -------------------- |

I don't like Star Trek. Never have.
The movie was great though. I loved it. Totally worth seeing. Everything about it was terrific. A tad confusing but eh. -Rorschach |

I choose Terminator Salvation above this when I headed towards the cinema. Hell, I'll probably see this within a few weeks aswell, for the time I'm just mildly curious.

I didn't think time travel really worked as a theme in old star trek, they made it out to be impossible.
However for the new one it works just fine. -------------------- |
