SWR Productions Forum _ Games Discussion _ How to install mods for C&C games on Origin

Posted by: Kalga 26 Sep 2013, 20:18

First of all, I'm not sure where to post this so I'm posting it here...

---

So you have brought C&C The Ultimate Collection and realized that you can't get any mods to work (because EA is full of s--t). There's a simple way to fix that...

For C&C 2, C&C 3, RA3:

1. install the fixed launchers : http://www.commandandconquer.com/forums/forum/global-command-center/the-ultimate-collection-the-first-decade/8578-fixed-launchers-for-the-ultimate-collection Never mind that link, not everyone can see it, try this one instead: http://bibber.eu/downloads/cnc-3-tiberium-wars/

2. Install Desura on your computer & get a Desura account (of course almost everyone who plays mods (beside me apparently) already got that part).

3. Download the mods that you want to play from Desura.

4. Play the mod(s)

For C&C General & ZH

1. Same as above.

2. Download whatever mod you want to play.

3. If mod has installer, launch it but make sure that the directory path leads to C&C Generals/ZH folder in Origin games rather than EA games or other things.
3.5. If mod does not have installer, simply put the files where they tell you to (still somewhere in the folder Origin games in C-drive, actually this way can be done without needing to install the fixed launchers. Note that this method can only accommodate one mod at a time.)

4. Play the mod(s).

For RA2:

I have no idea how to get mods to work for that. There's apparently something missing in the original files or something...

---

Oh and anyone who got any other tricks feel free to post them. wink.gif

Do you also know where to install the files of the "Rise of the Reds V1.8"-mod in the zero hour folder? Please be detailed enough or show me a picture of your zero hour folder with the files.
I'd be extremely thankful if anyone could help me with this because i've downloaded the shockwave and rise of the reds mods but after installation it always keeps telling me that I installed the mod in the wrong folder!
Please help me.

Thank you

Infernocannon

That actually depends on your computer...

For my Computer this is directory file path I used:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour

Hopefully this will help...

I'll try it thank you for helping!!

I tried what you said but when I run the game it doesn't run the mod (in this case Rise of the Reds V1.8) but instead it runs zero hour itself!
I'm desperate and I contacted the modmakers for help. I run the Ultimate Collection of Command and Conquer from Origin.

Thanks anyway for trying to help me!!

So basically you cannot play ShW if you have Origin? Ive installed correctly but when im in the gamespy it will not allow me to go passed the Gamespy log in. It wont let me online with ShW but it will with ROTR (Rise of the Reds).
Does anyone else have the solution? Im using Origin with Ultimate collection.

Thanks...

if youve already resolved the problem then disregard this post. but otherwise please anwer the following so we can help you

What operating system are you running?
Is it 32 bit or 64 bit? (yes this can change where a program installs by default, so it matters)
*hint - if you have more than 4 gb of ram then you almost definitely have a 64 bit OS, (look in dxdiag, it will tell you)

*NOTE* i ask what os you are running because each one does things differently even among the different windows versions

did origin install into the default directory, or did you specifically tell it to install somewhere else?

Hi there, I have the exact same problem as @Infernocannon. I have followed the steps of installing it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour and it's just loading up the game instead of the mod.

So a few specifications-
Windows 8.1
64Bit, x64 based
4GB Ram

ZH is definitely installed in that folder as I've checked everywhere. I was thinking maybe it's because Origin games installed in [Program Files (x86)] rather than in [Program fies]?

What do you guys think?

Thanks for your support smile.gif

Straight after i posted that I came across this- http://www.commandandconquer.com/forums/index.php/topic/26695-fixed-launchers-for-the-ultimate-collection/
Someone has changed the launchers so that it now works for mods and maps smile.gif

hope it works for everyone else like me smile.gif

And if that fails there's always the good old method of simply use the no installer version and insert the files directly into the appropriate folder (thereby bypassing whatever the heck Origin is blocking)

Posted by: Joramelarius 28 May 2015, 16:58

I know it is a pretty old thread but don't know where to put it otherwise..

Somehow I'm unable to install the fixed launchers when downloaden the file from the above mentioned link (http://bibber.eu/downloads/cnc-ultimate-collection-launchers/).
Can someone maybe provide me with the launchers themselves instead of an installer? I'm looking for C&C generals and Zero Hour.

Thank you in advanc.e
