SWR Productions Forum _ Frontline News _ ROTR Developers Video Feed

Posted by: Comr4de 13 Jun 2009, 12:43

As Rise of the Reds continues to plow through it's development and reaches it's goal to 2.0 we wish to give the fans the most out of their gameplay experiences. So we've developed a little something extra in correlation with the closing ROTR 1.5 Release. We'd like to announce the first ROTR Developer Video feed.

What is it you ask? It's quite simple really, you ask us any question you have regarding ROTR here on this same thread and we may just answer it in-game with me and The_Hunter talking about it. Now let's make this clear, it's not just limited to 1.5 but anything regarding Rise of the Reds so make your question clear and one that can get the most out of us (me, saying that you can fish for information? This is madness!). No edits, no bull, just clear straightforward answers. Or at least to the extent that we can say, just not to spoil the surprises we have ahead for you all. So go ahead and post away, as the deadline for questions is in 3 days!

So get posting!

Posted by: katmoda12 13 Jun 2009, 13:13

Could you answer showing us:

-how it works russian Blackout Node?

-How it works the TOPOL-M?

-How does the Ka-50 Blacksharks do its strafing manouevres and what's the meaning of "better engine than Ka-50 Werewolf"?

Thank you very much

Posted by: NergiZed 13 Jun 2009, 13:33

- How does the Goshawk's special ability work?

- Are there any special abilities for the Claymore? What about the Jadg Mammout?

That's all I can think of atm.

This I8.gif

3v3 would be the best, with them starting at a distance.

Posted by: Anubis 13 Jun 2009, 13:44

How would a battle like this look like :

A line of ECA defenses ( goalkeeper + bunkers + artillery ) backtup by a few Jadgmammoths, a couple of Claymores and 2 -3 Goshawks do against a russian assault force of sentinels, kodiacs, tesla tanks and Werwolvs. Call it the battle of the Channel if you will tongue.gif . It would be nice to see how the masters of defensive warfare handle the masters of steamrolle warfare.

Things to see : how strong the claymore is as a base defense support artillery, how good the mammoth is against it's direct enemy - the sentinel and how will the goshawk's special power help in a battle.

Posted by: Pickysaurus 13 Jun 2009, 13:56

Wow this seem like a great idea ^.^

Which units from vZH will we not see in game?

Who will be the ECA hero and what is their special abilities?

What will the ECA command centre look like?

How does the Paladin tank weigh up against the Sentinel, Overlord, Jadgmammoth and Claymore?

How much damage will the ECA Superweapon cause?

I could go on tongue.gif

What's new with the GLA?

Posted by: Turret89 13 Jun 2009, 14:27

Can we have some footage of general Thorns Blackhawks? Also the ECA superweapon (yes I know there is a video of it from RoE but I'm certain you guys did some adjustments to it)
Can we see the Jagdmamut's shell ejection system in action?

Thanks
-T

Posted by: Jester 13 Jun 2009, 15:56

Can we see the maticore tank and general thorns blackhawks And some ECA helicopters and planes and the ECA super weapon and also the ECA hero

Posted by: Dutchygamer 13 Jun 2009, 16:20

Just some ingame views from the new units/units with updated models will do wink.gif

Posted by: Sanctum 13 Jun 2009, 16:27

Will Rise of the Reds have a decent amount of amphibious vehicles by 2.0?

Posted by: Destiny 13 Jun 2009, 16:54

How will the Raptors raw/fully upgraded from any USA faction fare off against raw/fully upgraded Berkuts/PAK FAs?

We'll even I can answer that. The whole helicopter is one big turret code-wise. heh.

So here's my question(s):

-May I also see Thorn's Blackhawks?

-Can we get a look at how the new Tomahawk works?

-Can we see the Claymore Self-Propelled Howitzer in action?

Posted by: Jester 13 Jun 2009, 20:33

Back at FS i made a thread to ask weather the chinook would be realisticaly scaled and i think over dose responded to me by saying "we have plans for this these plans are ... Gets dragged away by shock troopers" so can we see thainst a these plans???. Also will each side get a tank that will be able to take on an overlord or sentinal?

Posted by: Eduardo 13 Jun 2009, 22:21

The AI of China may use the Han Gunship, MiG Hellfire, Twin Fang, Troop Crawler (whit speaker towers) and Airship?

Posted by: Rymosrac 14 Jun 2009, 4:57

WHERE IS THE CAT?

Posted by: Ascendancy 14 Jun 2009, 5:13

I'd really like to see how the ECA's superweapon looks in game (but I highly doubt it's finished).

Either that, or perhaps what happens when a Topol-M's ICBM hits a combined force of infantry and vehicles.

Edit: Last sentence didn't entirely make sense.

Posted by: nine_dragon 14 Jun 2009, 6:01

can we see some GLA in action, please?

Posted by: BlitzGeneral 14 Jun 2009, 11:32

I'd like to know what solutions the ECA and GLA have to Russian and USA warplanes.

I'm also interested in seeing the difference between the...Alligator and Blackshark choppers, wasn't it?

Oh, and finally an artilery comparison for all the main factions.

Posted by: Jester 14 Jun 2009, 12:39

Seeing that one ECA general is mechenized assault will he have mechs if so id like to see them and i badly want to see general thorns blackhawk and his navy seals and special elite rangers.

No he won't have mechs.

Then why call him mechanized assault then??? wacko.gif

Posted by: The_Hunter 14 Jun 2009, 21:35

Mechanised is a term used for certain tactic that envolves using infantry in combo with light or fast attack vehicles.

Posted by: Rayburn 14 Jun 2009, 21:40

Because the word "mechanised", in the military sense, has nothing to do with mechs. A military unit that calls itself "mechanised" is equipped with armoured motor vehicles. Ever heard the term "mechanised infantry"? "Mechanised assault" simply means that this general is about speedy, head-on attacks using infantry which is supported by armoured vehicles such as tanks, APCs and IFVs. It's about high mobility and synergy, meaning there'll be a greater focus on unit mixing as it will pay off quite a lot with this subfaction.

EDIT: Ninja'd by the boss himself...

Posted by: DerKrieger 14 Jun 2009, 21:47

-Could we see some new stuff for the GLA or ECA?

-Can you tell us more about the new generals? Which one(s) are your favorites so far?

-What new units are your favorites?

-Tell us more about Venom, the ECA hero unit...

-What about the Manticore? How is it different than the one that was to be in ROE?

-I too am interested in how General Thorn's army will work in game.

Posted by: Vet91 14 Jun 2009, 23:33

Welcome to the forums smile.gif

The Tu-160 will probably not be available from the airfield. It's only used to drop the FOAB.

Posted by: Beef 15 Jun 2009, 2:18

Tell us each of the mod team members' favorite factions so far.

Posted by: Pickysaurus 15 Jun 2009, 2:30

Are there any specialist units for the USA (as in General Specific) ?
Thus far there have only been units that all USA Generals will have (according to the archive)

Posted by: Zhao 15 Jun 2009, 2:32

i wanna see the models that where shown on the updates actually appear in game like that Alexander vehicle on the fall update for shock wave

will they be in there?

Posted by: Pink_Supervisor 15 Jun 2009, 8:20

Will there be new sounds for already existing units? At the moment the Chinese and American sounds seem a little tame compared to the Russian's firing sounds, and if you haven't noticed, the A-10's GAU sounds exactly the same as the Hind's 20mm

:: offtopic :: Wowwwww!!!!!!! Things have changed alot since my last visit to the site old site smile.gif. Great work guys.....

Any changed to the Chinese Nuke/Inferno Cannons or would be getting a new artillery piece for China? They have been unchanged from the Original game i think

Posted by: CommanderJB 15 Jun 2009, 11:53

The Nuke Cannon has received a considerable spiff-up, and I think you'll be pleased with the result, so that one's already been answered.

Posted by: Anubis 15 Jun 2009, 13:58

K. Since this is the last day of this topic, i will improve my last suggestion with a scenario and the things that should be seen from this scenario :

on a coastline map of 2 players ( sea side mutiny for example ) a powerfull ECA defese line formed of this ; bunkers, artillery emplacements and goalkeepers is assaulted by a strong russian assault force. Wave after wave of russian forces will assault this line. The ECA defenses are supported by jadgmammoths and claymore artilleries, while the air is controled by goshawk planes and Tiger gunships.

In this part of the scenario, this would be the things to see :

- Artillery positions range and damage against armored collumns as well as infantry groups.
- Panzerfaust infantry inside bunkers to see how well they do against armored units.
- goalkeepers - how well they can take out incoming missiles ( russian forces should have some Burratino in their army as well as a few hinds and werewolfs ) as well as incoming planes ( i would like to see how it can take out froogfots as they are the heavy bomber as well as a few pak-fa ).
- Jadgmammoths - how well they can handle sentinels and kodiacs and if their range is good enough to be a threat for sentinels.
- Claymores - how much damage they can do and what is their std range ( as at this point i have the impresion that this artilery has the longest range ), as well as how big they are and especialy how mobile they are.
- Goshawks - how powerfull these really odd planes are, and especialy how good and usefull that secondary abillity is , and ofc ... how it actually works.
- Tigers - first of all to see the new model, as well as what kind of weapons it has ( to see what makes it different from the russian/american gunships ).

At the end of the movie, the russians would overwhelm the ECA base and would finaly crack those defenses, and in a final act of disperation, ECA high command launches the solar flare SW - and as the russian forces would celebrate the victory , the solar flare would strike taking out their entire forces.
Things to see :

- a few ECA structures with their new skins.
- the new and improved solar flare fx as well as it's damage.

Well this is it. Hope this get's the vote tongue.gif .
Anubis out.

Edit : Trow in some manticores 2 or 3 of them as base defenders for ECA. This is another unit i can't wait to see ( my hopes is that it has a complete remodel from the old one ... ).

QUOTE (ModDB)
There will be 3 Generals per faction, making for a total of 15 playable Generals - each with their own unique strengths and weaknesses. We have decided to base ROTR solely around these Generals so there will be no "vanilla" or parent factions in the traditional sense.

ok, than I should prolly try to ask another question or two.

Could we see what the tank being hauled around on the shell map by trains (the rail-gun Kodiak?) can do? It's been hauled around the map for ages yet we know nothing about it yet.

Posted by: katmoda12 16 Jun 2009, 19:01

-Could you show us the fightening crawling behemoths?

-and how the bunker complexes work?

-and a comparision between the claymore and the pzh2000 with its famous and mostly anticipated ability of Multiple Rounds Simultaneous Impact?...just joking, i'm just interested in the comparision
