Question about clearing mines

Good solo player, PvP beginner



In many occasions I've been testing the clear mines ability with various factions and I noticed that it does not work the same depending on the one faction setting them and the one clearing them.

In ZH you would put your dozer on clearing mines over some area and, provided there were some detection unit around to see the mines the dozer would keep excavating mines on the delimited area until there was no one left. I recently had a chinese dozer working this way on chinese mines.


Though, when it comes to ECA mines for example, it is not that simple.

Recently I put 4 GLA workers on clearing a minefield+molemine set by mole minelayer, while radar van was detecting. I think it worked well on the minefield but I had to ask the workers many times before I guess they finally cleared out the molemine.

I also tried with tunguskas + detecting conscripts versus an ECA minefield and there it is just a pain : each time you call clear mines on tunguskas they remove one single mine from the minefield and then go for coffee break.

So I just ask to know if it is a known bug and will be fixed in future releases or if it is intended that if you play some matchup and see a minefield you just have to sell out your production buildings in the area and remember never to set foot there anymore.

When it comes to clearing mines as Russia, use the mishka and conscript in a air unit.

Marauders and Mole Minelayers can pass through minefields unharmed as well.

Do you mean mishka?
Anyway, its pretty annoying that mishka doesnt clear the mines when you tell it. The way how I do this, is to abuse the fact, that they dont take any damage from mines.
So if you move with them on that minefield (you dont need stealth detect) back and forth, back and fort and back and forth again, you will end up with almost completely cleared minefield. smile.gif
Btw: ALT is your best friend.

I don't see how it works, the conscript in air unit would provide better detection range for mishka to poperly do its job ?

Actually, mine clearing not working the same for all units still feels kinda buggy to me, do you think I should post in Bug Reports ?

Didn't know that trick. I thaught such units just passed unharmed but did not explode any mine. Thanks, I will try for sure smile.gif .

Yeah, splash damage is the best cure to mines actually ! Though when you get minefield in front of your barracks/war factory and inbetween your buildings, or in the middle of your whole attack force that was standing there waiting for attack order, you may want to use more surgical techniques wink.gif .

Also, some sturdy tanks like golems with repair support will do the job for sure.

There is 4 ways to deal with mines.

Remove them with worker units/mishkas/repair drones and the like.

Blow them the hell up. Artillery is your friend.

Drive over them with units that don't care- Golems, Mishkas, Marauders.

Avoid them.

Yeah I know this one too, but I HATE losing my units before they do at least a little damage duhsov.png . I mean those angry mobs that can inflict so much pain to almost everything, why should they just die to stupid mines ?
But I try to get used to it after all most CnC units are not that resilient and all, and sometimes you do need some meat chields biggrin.gif

But still, back to my primary concern :

I think I noticed some kind of disfunction back to 1.84 with the ECA mine-removal unit, guess it was the excavator at that time, but it was long ago I can't tell precisely.

So you think it is worth a bug report ?
