Yesterday evening I was fricking bored, so I decided to do something I had planned for ages: watch anime. The last time I watched it was when DragonBall Z was on TV, which is... 8 or something years ago?
Anyways, I decided to watch Hellsing, just for the heck of it. All I can say: groovy! Alucard ,nice remake of Dracula btw, is epic, Seras is cute and nice, and I love the general theme. I'm at episode 6 now of the TV series, and I plan to watch the OVA after I finished the TV episodes This post has been edited by Dutchygamer: 15 May 2012, 20:18 -------------------- |

The TV series is good, but the OVA is just awesome, better style and closer to the manga (Vampire Nazis get pwnd).

Good start, that was my second anime to watch sir, its a good one.
Just dont dwell on them too much, you'll go wacko like me (Xenosaga anyone?) You'll be fine its a great medium, a rather different one but one that has more content than what you think. -------------------- SWR Co-Lead | Texture Artist | Modeler | Level Designer | Fan of all things Awesome |

Well, I'll finish the TV series either today or else tomorrow/friday.
I'll start on the OVA after that (I need to make some time for those as they are longer from what I've seen). -------------------- |

Alright, finished both the TV series as the OVA, and I can say this: OVA is way superior to the TV series, that is for sure.
Only the finale of the OVA leaves an odd feeling: Seras becomes a real vampire, kills Zorin, and heads off to kill everyone else. End of series. I suspected to see more of Alucard, the Major, and the Iscariot. Have I missed an episode (this was from 7), or must I read the Manga to know how it ends? There's more Hellsing coming. Expect 5 more OVAs. They are not finished. I'll post here when they release a new one.

Honestly I thought the ending of the manga was a downer. We'll see if they try to do something else in Ultimate.

Hellsing is a legend... I haven't seen the anime yet, but that will change when I have some time. Currently I got to the point where the Nazi are about to invade London, simply epic with no compromise from Alucard.
It's a pity nobody made a film really based upon this manga/anime (I know there's a film named Hellsing, but it's... meh). -------------------- Don't blame the others if you haven't checked your own (in)ability in first case. Elections: It doesn't matter who wins, you always lose! |

@ Overdose: I doubt it. From what I've seen the OVA are pretty much equal to the Manga.
And yes, maybe the end was a bit... different then suspected. But the last episode (that Alucard returns) is funny (especially the stuff between Integra and Seras) I'm seriously considering to start with New Dawn. Anyone following that one? -------------------- |

Yeah, you can also keep an eye out for new eps of the Black Lagoon OVA: Roberta's Blood Trail; it's looking like it'll become something quite epic really soon.

From what I quickly read on Wiki, I think I'll like Black Lagoon more the Claymore. I'm not that much into the fantasy, but more into guns

Claymore is more about decapitating zombies than fantasy.

Actually, Black Lagoon is one of the few shows out there with pretty good dubs.

Been a while since I posted here, so a little status update:
Watched: Black Lagoon Black Lagoon: Second Barrage Currently watching: Claymore Even though I thought Claymore wouldn't be interesting, it is quite cool after all. I should be finished with it the Friday before Christmas On my to-watch/read list: Dragon Ball Kai Fairy Tail (Manga or Anime) Hellsing New Dawn Black Lagoon (Manga) Shame I don't have a real Christmas holiday this year, or else I would have been able to spend some more time reading one of the to-read list In other news: as you may noticed, I switched from Alucard as avi/signature to Seras This post has been edited by Dutchygamer: 15 Dec 2010, 19:17 -------------------- |

Good sir, we may have the same taste in anime, we seem to have literally watched the first animes in almost the same sequence. So to time skip for you I'll suggest the following; yes I've added images to give you a taste of what they're like.
Darker than Black Ergo Proxy Trigun Cowboy Bebop Blame! (Manga) Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex & 2nd Gig Witchblade ^ Those are pretty much win. If you're going for a bit more "happy go lucky" but not "oh my god I am going to gauge out my eyes for watching this" then try this: Record of Lodoss War (I'd almost say this is the Grandfather of Medieval anime) Legend of the Legendary Heroes (Retarded name but good and surprisingly grimdark). Gurren Laggan - it's epic, Yes I know you've heard that a million times but once you've watched it you'll know. Let me put it this way, nice and simple. I hate mech anime - this was the exception. Give it a good try. Soul Eater - characters may have outright retarded names, but its a great watch. Tower of Druaga, Aegis of Uruk (Same series). Kara no Kyoukai (movie series) - pretty awesome. Fate Stay Night ...and thats all I can think of thats actually been worthy of recalling. There's a lot of crap I've watched that I didn't mention because in short, its not memorable or it's down right Japan. So give those a quick look and enjoy man. It's a different medium but its one with a broad range for audiences, young and old. Surprising isn't it ? -------------------- SWR Co-Lead | Texture Artist | Modeler | Level Designer | Fan of all things Awesome |
