SWR Productions Forum _ The Workstation _ What do I use to construct objects?

Posted by: FloppyDisk99 14 Jul 2014, 14:02

Okay, I'm totally new to this, as In creates an account 2 hours ago, and I have been looking around at the different topics and so fourth, anywho, I've had some ideas and have drawn sketches of some units that could be added into the game, plus some new sound effects that I've managed to get a hold of that would suite units better than previous.

What I am wondering is what I would use to create units, and to attach sound effects and all of that, ads I said, I'm totally new to this and browsing the Internet to try to find something suitable has really been a waste of time. From what I've read you all seem like decent people, I haven't met anyone yet, but I don't think this will be like other modding sites, where the noobs are shoved off; no one willing to help and so on, all I'm asking is that someone can help me out?

What I meat to say is that I'm not sure what software I need to use to be able to construct units and/or objects that are able to be added to games, such as people are changing particles and sound FX and are creating units to be added in game for their own personal use, I'm wondering what I would need to be able to alter the game?

Ahhh.. To make new vehicles, buildings, basically models, u need a modelling program.. Gmax with renx or the 3dsmax (there are threads here about it)

For sounds, well, i use audacity to edit sounds and its free.

For images, you have GIMP, Paint.net, photoshop

For particles u really only need the notebad, and Chappi made a tutorial about particles...

And to mod zero hour, you need finalbig so you can extract the files so you can start modifying the game

Thank you very much, it is much appreciated that you were able to help me out, if I may, I could post the work in progress of the units and building I will be making, but alas, I am moving so it may not be until the end of this, or next month before anything significant gets anywhere.

And what I asked before, to be able to send the work in progress, what mean by that is for you to be able to look over then and point out any flaws and all that, because from what I've seen you do have some remarkable skill in this area...... Of course I will only sent it to you if it is okay on your behalf?

And you may also need 3ds max if you want a better 3d software. Most modders use gmax to import .w3d files and import it into a format compatible to 3ds max.

You can use Gimp, photoshop, and other softwares.

Though,3ds max and photoshop are paid softwares,I cannot give you links. Atleast not here. *wink*
