Hi, well I have been getting my butt kicked seven was from Sunday, by the Demo General in generals challenge, so I used final big to extract the map file and edited it in world builder, the using final big I put the edited map file back in the maps zh.big file and saved. Then loaded the game, but when I started playing against the Demo General, nothing had been changed!
All the hard work that I had done editing scripts, removing buildings from the build list tool and the map, even putting mines and demo traps in the locations were the scud storm and palace go, but all to no a vale, as when I play the game nothing has been change. |

VZH doesn't even have a demo general challenge, so I assume your using a mod of some kind. If so, you shouldn't be saving your files in the original big files as it will be overwritten by whatever mod you're using. Save it in the Maps folder in your ZH folder, if the folder doesn't exist, make one. -------------------- |

Hi, I am playing Shockwave, so the original Mapszh.big has already been over writing and I am using the maps start out of the c:x86 ea games, using final big to extract and replace. So I am not sure what is going on, as my understanding of things is that if you replace a file, the old file is gone and so with that in mind why is this not the case. And I have tried playing the same map from the unofficial map folder but the AI dose nothing it just set there not building or fighting. So once again I do not under stand why the new map files are not showing up in the challenge side of the game |

Do NOT repack original .big files, ever. Only place them in folders or pack them into new .big files.
Anyway, this doesn't work because mapcache.ini doesn't have the map reference. Place the map into your My Documents -> ZH -> Maps folder. The AI obviously doesn't work because the map is a beta at best and has no scripts, paths etc. VZH doesn't even have a demo general challenge Yes it does, the map is merely incomplete. |

Ok, two things 1) you say make a new big file, I am guessing what your talking about is using the extracted map file, adding the new edit map files and then delete the current big file and replace it with the new edited one, 2) when you say “the map is merely incomplete” are your sure, as it works fine in the challenge mode and have gone throw the script files they look full complete to. |

If you are talking about the .gib files, those are the mod's files. The reason your map wasn't showing is because you were replacing the original ZH map, and not the updated map the mod uses. big/gib files are read by the game alphabetically, which is why the mod files start with an "!" to make sure they are on top of the other game's big files. Which is why you should use folders. Because folders overwrite all the big/gib files. -------------------- |
