They were absolutely useless in Zero Hour. Jarmen Kell was lame, Rebels had no use other than capturing buildings (even with camouflage), RPG troopers were weak when compared to the other factions, Hijackers were cool but took too much time and money to train a good amount of them, Mobs were devastating till that flashbang/toxic weapon/flame thrower/helicopter came along, terrorists were slow and died too easily, and it was impossible to get a sabatour into a well built base. The only reason I built a GLA barracks in Zero Hour is to unlock defenses and train rebels to capture buildings.
Will they be buffed to have a more solid role in ROTR's GLA? And can we have a hint on some of the changes will they have? Finally, will any GLA general have unique infantry unit? Thanks. BTW, are we close? |

First, check this last update: http://forums.swr-productions.com/index.ph...t=0&start=0
Second, they don't buffed(or nothing change) and don't have any unique infantries(in my opinion). However, most GLA Infantries are change models and have some new addtions(if my guess right) Specially, Jarmen Kel. They're a lot scarier for a good reason I don't want to state right now.

As far as I remember, the one core change is that we took out stealth detection from most static defences, meaning that you'll have to complement your defensive line with stealth detection units.

^That probably hurts Russia good, hmm? Ironic that they're on a "Conscripts having IR goggles is unfair" discussion (or rather a plain rant) back on ModDB.
Won't hurt US that much, they got their drones. Probably won't hurt China at all, since they can easily have a stealthed stealth detector with a wide line of sight right behind their defenses. And even if they manage to sneak around the base for a bit, they're bound to pop a few mines sooner or later. |

Yeah, I just read that exchange on ModDB. Maybe someone should pass them the memo that "higher tier infantry" such as Shock Troopers and VDV will later become exclusive to two different generals, which is why the IR Goggles
will remain with the Conscripts due to them being available to all, cheap and pretty darn versatile since you can also put them into other stuff which gives you stealth-detecting Hinds, BMPs, garrisons and other fun, useful goodies. |

^The convo won't stop unless one of you guys say that. Dunno even if that would be enough. Apparently some people get offended bigtime by the fact that cannon fodders are detecting US stealth aircraft.
None of the Russian defenses detected stealth? Didn't really know that, the only one I ever really built is the Tesla Coil. Oh wait, I just remembered RotR Listening Outpost doesn't detect stealth either... this might get tricky after all. |

As far as I know, Troop Crawlers do detect stealth for China.

There is only one detector unit remains for each faction; conscript, sentry drone, troop crawler.
So, GLA stealth infantry would be a lot more useful. -------------------- CASOJIN

Actually, the US have some additional options IIRC: Sentry Drones, the Satellite Scan and the Pathfinder binoculars ability.

Ooooh, that sounds interesting since guessing the GLA will be more stealth based and you'll have to be more worried about infilitration by hero units or other stealth units. |

US has the Pathfinder, China has Speaker Tower Overlord (pretty sure they could detect stealth in 1.5), Russia can garrison Conscripts in different vehicles like Mishka, Hind, BMP. |

Chinese overlords can detect stealth yes, pathfinders however cannot.
