Hello once again SWR fans! We're back with another media update for you to feast your eyes on. We also have to announce that due to technical difficulties part 2 of our video feed had to be redone but it's not really a problem since we should have it ready by this week or the next. So don't worry. Now onto the renders:



The Sentry Drone comes from a long line of failed prototypes. Billions of dollars were pumped into the development of the perfect scout. The first prototypes produced used to be as expensive as a tank and used to break down often. The second line were cheaper, however they had to be remote controlled by somebody within a hundred miles. The third and final version was cheaper, was capable of accomplishing its mission even without supervision and could operate for over a week without maintenance. Decades have passed, the model we see today is the newest used by US ground operations with electronics and armor more up to date with today’s available technology.


The Nuke Cannon of the new generation is a terrifying opponent. It is now armed with a new ordinance and is capable of a much superior firing range and its destructiveness has increased many times over however it is no longer possesses neutron weaponry since the Budapest Convention of 2027. A bright white light, a shockwave and you are history.

The Sentry Drone seems to have gotten a firepower upgrade...

Just to restate, the 2nd portion of the feed was done today but needs to be eidted/fixed etc but it will be posted this week. Hope you guys enjoy the update =)

Great update..

A triple barelled cannon for the Sentry? Does this mean increased firepower? Do we still have to buy the sentry gun upgrade?

Does the Nuke Cannon come with increased firepower and range in-game or is it just the lore.

The Chinese abandoning neutron shells just because of a convention does not seem right to me cos usually Chinese will not care about such conventions in a war scenario.

Does the Nuke Cannon have bigger area-of-effect and/or fire SSNR (or similar) shells as it loses the neutron shells?
As for the Sentry Drone, looks deadlier with the new minigun armament

Looks like 1.5 is going to be a LOT BETTER...

The explosion is huuuge, LOUD and now you get a sexy white flash. Yes, the blast area is much bigger now.

Does anyone use the Ambulances and toxin/radiation abilities? I rarely use them. Not even when playing the campaign or challenge in the Vanilla ZH

I'm a bit dissappointed TBH,

while the diary looks all nice and interesting, the unit renders are a bit lower quality than usual.

I like your remakes, (apart from the Sentry drone. I really prefer the old one. 3-sided, cone-shaped barrels look really bad imho) but this (although awesome looking) 'new' nuke cannon is the same as the new one from shockwave.

Don't get me wrong, I'm always looking forward to your updates, but this one wasn't worth all the diary and story.

EDIT: I just compared, yeah it's the same. That doesn't really matter, it's just a bit overkill to show a unit twice

I's infact exactly the same it was initialy made for ROTR and then later decided to use it in shockwave as the nuke cannon for Tao aswell

Please keep in mind that you won't be able to look at it THAT closely in-game. There's no point in making the individual barrels super-
detailed and round if you won't even notice much of a difference. Also, the new Sentry Drone is actually quite powerful against infantry.

i will assume the new nuke cannon is the China answer to the Zhukov Topol and the new Tomahawk from USA in range and power

That it is powerful is not the point really. The sentry drone machine gun had a really nice firing animation and looked very well. I don't really see why it had to be changed into another gatling-like gun.

although the rest of the updates on the model do look very well.

The original sentry drone had no such thing as a firing animation.

If your reffering to the muzzle flame it had it still has that except that we used a different texture for the muzzle.

Well it was really lacking I must admit, seeing as both additions were really just model updates. Fill in the gap since we haven't shown the second portion of the video and the release. I know where you are coming from and no offense taken =)

Nice update, the Sentry drone now looks like Phalanx on tracks. The 'new' Nuke Cannon looks great as well (ok, I have seen it before).
@Diary:
I think it is really fun to see that both April 31 and 32 are actually non-existent. I and some others would like to see it changed to May 1st and 2nd respectivly. Also, some intel about the Convention would be helpful.

I actually like very much the new models,astonishing the story

About the reutilization of TAO's nuke cannon.. I'm totally fine with that: Game-wisely the nuke cannon that passed to the new generation was the advanced prototype utilized by TAO, same thing to be applied to the ERA armor from Kwai that went to every chinese battlemaster by default.

About the neutron technology that chinese can no longer utilize following the treaty of Budapest in 2026... Do you remember what they said in the original Zero Hour manuals about the neutron tech? the exact words: "long rumored to be in chinese arsenal".
No one actually saw it in work, even in the campaign the only time you utilized the technology was during the assault to the chinese reactor perpetrated by GLA. And tell me, who cares about GLA losses done by a new,devastating, deviated technology?
During the intervention in Europe they are forbidden to utilize nuke tech.

I also remember that in the manual in Tao's attached Bio there was written something about a nuclear accident caused by him, maybe the very same accident that leaded to the Budapest Convention.

(that would be really awesome,giving the feeling of linking ends)

Maybe it's just speculation.
It's just that I like Maddog TAO.

And about the chinese strategy that doesn't care about humanitarian anti-neutron convention: They will have increasing problem with public opinion as every advanced country, and when their products will reach the same price of european/american product in european/american markets (increased cost of transport likely) what will drive the consumers towards a product?

nice update!

the sentry drone looks nice and it also makes sense, that the chinese would adopt Tao's experimental Nuke Cannon on a great scale.....

Sadly no Katmoda12. Generals takes place in 2020 and that incident with Tao happened earlier in his career was very distant from 2027 when the convention took place.

And what about sounds? I expect this new gun to fire a lot faster.

I misworded that when using animation, I meant the firing visuals along with the sound worked very well.

The dates on the diary are still wrong Also, AFAIK Generals takes place in 2013 to 2015, and Z:H takes place in 2020, and my favorite General according to the taunts is Dr. Trax:
"Damn, that was my whine cellar!" or "You destroyed my Command Center? Well, I didn't like my subordinates anyway." or "Fire that Nuke at us, it will only make us stronger!" aso.
Last thing: what is a Golova?

Well the Chinese would still be okay with the Nuke Cannon even if the Convention will forbid neutron weapons (including the upgrade for the landmines), 'cause they have more powerful nuke shells to make up for that. katmoda12's speculations gave me some nice info about the lore...

Me too for the Generals'/ZH's setting, as for the quotes:

Dr. Thrax: "You smell something? Huh? Hahahaha!!"
"You'll come for the toxins, but you'll stay...BECAUSE YOU'RE DEAD! Heeheehaha!"
Gen. Granger: "*humming the Star-Spangled Banner*...the bombs bursting in air...hehehe...!"

What are you refering to? ROTR is a continuation of Z:H, set in the 2030's, so I am right.

Actually if we see the generals/zero hour in SWR productions way they are:

Generals Classic (2015)- Shockwave (2020) -Rise of the reds (2030)

Rise of the reds it's almost a total conversion. While Shockwave it'a a huge addition that mantain all the feautre of Zero Hour.
