Hello, Admire-ral!

Had this in my mind.

Major Races:

Humans
Taste: Elite Units
Iconic Units: Paladin, Knight
These pragmatic humans rule a proud kingdom. Under the guidance of their king, this kingdom prospered, and the humans lived in peace. During a defending war against the savage orcs invading the kingdom, they saw demons appearing out of a hellish portal. The human king sent generals to ready the army for defense, and sent envoys to their high elven and dwarven allies about this.

High Elves
Taste: Subversive
Iconic Units: Rogue, Ranger
These high elves are a civilization of slightly-tall human-like beings with pointy ears, attributed with archery, stealth and magic. They are among the most exalted civilizations in the land, and are regarded as guardians of this land. In a war with the savage orcs (the same war the humans fought), they, with their human allies, witnessed demons surfacing. The high elf kingdom decided to mobilize its forces for defense. When a human envoy met with the high elven king, the king agreed to ally with the humans.

Dwarves
Taste: Defense and Artillery
Iconic Units: Great Warrior, Bombard
The dwarves of the deep caverns are a civilization of short, but strong human-like beings, who are believed to craft the finest weapons, the toughest armor and the most advanced technology. When a bunch of dwarf archaeologists discovered that demons are beginning to surface, and news of this got to their king, the king ordered that defenses be tightened, and the army be prepared for war, just in case demons encroach their realm. When a human envoy came to the dwarves, the dwarves decided it would be a good idea to ally with the humans.

Honor Orcs
Taste: Well-Rounded Units
Iconic Units: Samurai, Daimyo
These orcs were once nomads long ago, until they have found a place where they could build civilization. Over time, these orcs were cultured and developed. For example, their warriors practiced martial arts and meditation to hone their fighting skills and their scholars discovered philosophy and science. While meditating, one mentor, who happened to also be a monk, sensed demons encroaching the land, and when this was confirmed by a scout, their ruler mobilized their army for defense.

Undead
Taste: Sheer Numbers
Best Units: Necromancer, Reaper
These cultists and raised dead practice dark magic and worship demons. When they go to war, they would raise any fallen enemies to their side, and would sacrifice any prisoner they taken to their demon masters. When the demons arrived to this land, they believe that the hour of revelation has come. Thus, they eagerly allied themselves with the demons.

Savage Orcs
Taste: Pure Offense
Iconic Units: Butcher, Pillager
These band of barbaric orcs were a bunch of warring orc tribes until they were united by a single warlord. The warlord, an ambitious one, hopes to conquer regions to add to his land. The demons, sensing ambition on the orc warlord, coerced these orcs into an alliance. Unknown to them, the demons will betray them after their alliance has conquered the land.

Demons
Taste: Ability-Heavy and Assault
Iconic Units: Giant Demon, Demon Lord
The evil demons come from the nether realm. They seem to enjoy violence and suffering, to the point that they are willing to kill fellow demons to satisfy their sadism. Their leader, the ambitious Demon King, tires of his realm, and seeks to conquer new lands to bring suffering upon. He first set his sights on this land, which looked like a perfect place for massive suffering, which would more than satisfy him, due to the variety of races in this land. He had his channelers open a portal to the land, in the hopes to successfully invade it and make it a land of suffering. In order to increase his chances, he has formed alliances with some races, only to betray them in the long run.

Aliens
Taste: Out-of-this-World Technology
Iconic Units: Stalker, Terminator
These aliens come from a distant planet, hoping to look for new planets to colonize. They discovered this planet, which is rich in resources both of and not of their home planet, and seek to make it their territory. With their out-of-this-world weaponry, it may seem the inhabitants of this planet may be less of a threat. The demons, who seem to see an opportunity for more suffering, somehow coerced the aliens to an alliance. Unknown to these aliens, these demons plan to, like the savage orcs, betray them after their alliance have achieved their goal.

Minor Races:

Atlanteans (tentative name)
These sea humanoid creatures were once of a great and advanced civilization. This civilization fell from grace, when they have angered their gods, thanks to their being cocky, ambitious, and being too boastful on their technology, such that, with their advanced technology, they no longer needed the gods. As a result, their great civilization, sank to the ground, and nothing, not even their advanced technology, can save them. What remains of this civilization are ruins or temples.
Trains: Atlantean Warrior, Atlantean Archer, Atlantean Hydromancer, Kraken (limit of one)

Dark Elves
High elves who no longer serve their kingdom. They rebelled from the high elven kingdom not very long ago. They now are a bunch of cutpurses, sellswords and pillagers, offering their service to the highest bidder.
Trains: Dark Elf Cutpurse (Assassin), Dark Elf Highwayman (Archer), Dark Elf Sellsword (Fighter), Dark Elf Sellstaff (Mage), Dark Elf Mercenary Captain (limit of one)

Minotaurs
These bull-men are found in tribes, each one practicing their own traditions and religions, but each culture connected to mother nature. Some tribes have merged into a nation, some others remain tribes, some others conquered by tribe-nations.
Trains: Minotaur Warrior, Minotaur Shaman, Minotaur Chieftain (limit of one)

Centaurs
These horse-men are found in plains. Like the minotaurs, they are found in clans, each one practicing their own traditions and beliefs, but each belief is connected to druidism. Usually, these clans war. A few great clans have founded nations, however, many other clans are not capable of forming nations.
Trains: Centaur Lancer, Centaur Hunter, Centaur Druid, Centaur Chieftain (limit of one)

Harpies
There are three variants of harpies. The first variant, mountain harpies, are arguably the most beautiful of the harpies. Their claws do not harbor poison, but those claws are the sharpest of the harpy variants. They also dive in on their prey the fastest. The second variant, ice harpies, are as beautiful as their mountain counterparts. They may not dive as fast as the mountain variant, but their claws contain a freezing essence that can cause frostbite or slow down its prey. The third variant, desert harpies, are leagues uglier than the mountain or ice harpies. Their claws harbor a deadly poison that is said to kill a man in a minute. Their wails are also reported to cause madness.
Trains: Harpy, Harpy Hunter, Harpy Shaman, Harpy Chieftain (limit of one)

Giants
These huge human-like beings live in tribes. Although most commonly found in mountaintops, they are also found in forests. Most are nomadic.
Trains: Giant, Giant Hurler, Giant Leader (limit of one)

Trolls
These trolls live in communal villages. Although commonly viewed as hostile, they are a hunter race, sometimes cannibalistic. They are found in forests, jungles and taigas.
Trains: Troll Warrior, Troll Hunter, Troll Shaman, Troll Leader (limit of one), Giant Troll

Hobbits
These peaceful hobbits are a part of a democratic civilization. Although many of their municipal units are autonomous, they have ways of maintaining a central form of government, if need be.
Trains: Hobbit Fighter, Hobbit Archer, Hobbit Mage, Hobbit Knight (limit of one)

Fairies
These predominantly female humanoids live in predominantly matriarchal kingdoms, mostly hidden on or in the trees of forests. A great fairy civilization has been found in the heart of the thickest forest in the land. Although generally pacifistic, they will not hesitate to answer the call to arms if need be.
Trains: Fairy Warrior, Fairy Archer, Fairy Enchantress, Fairy Queen (limit of one)

Barbarian Humans
These humans are not part of the human kingdom. Like the minotaurs, centaurs and trolls, they live in tribes. They hunt, fish and sometimes pillage to sustain themselves.
Trains: Barbarian, Barbarian Archer, Barbarian Skirmisher, Barbarian Spearman, Barbarian Horseman, Barbarian Leader (limit of one)

WIP. May continue

My ideas for their building styles:

Humans use peons to make them a standard faction. You can choose either exclusivley beetween magic (sorry for that, since i am christian i disdain magic and would never play something that requires it to be used or even having it), conventional tech, economy and faith as techtress, all giving unique units, upgrades ,buildings and abilites. They need up to 3 of any recourse, but not all at once when they select an techtree.

High-Elves They rebuild forests or make forests or other natual places and use these as military bases/tech structures, they have one garrisonable central building. They are the only ones not relying on recourses but instead of size of their ground control and building time.

Dwarves build underground, only the holes are visible, the deepness and size of their buildings are important to the tech level. They are highly vurnable when not having defences, but these are cheap and strong. tongue.gif Food, Rock and Metals are needed.

Honor Orcs have mobile bases and are highly mobile, but vurnable and short ranged. They upgrade automatically and only need wood, food and metal. They need leader units to be effective in battle tought, just like the barbaric orcs but less so.

Undead work a bit like the Zerg from starcraft 2/HOTS and can infect the ground and human civilains to make recourses. The boni are larger the more ground they infect.

Savage Orcs are made up of many barbaric slave races like goblins, trolls, dark elves (which are to few), monsters and ogres. They have only one building and no bases, instead they recruit new units and make slaves and upgrades by combat and conquering.

Aliens should be like the protoss a bit but also be depent on their own recourses which are difficult to amass but are strong. Most of their units have a dual mode of melee or support and always a ranged attack. They have mass producable mini units which are weak and high end special units and when they have enough DNA/Blood, can even create hybrids. tongue.gif

To the setting itself.
Very intesrting and very well written, but not so original (this reminds me of Elder Scrolls universe, espically the Honor Orcs and a bit of Dungeons and Dragons), but still it can be very well made.
You could make the humans for example based on medieval balkan states, that would be intersteting, and the honor orcs could be a mix of asian and african civilisations.

The barbaric orcs could be like vikings and neanderthales and their weapons would be only made out of bones, leather and other organic parts.

One of the factions, perhaps the elves could rely on stealth while the dwarves rely on defence and artillery.

For the aliens i would them make them not to much alien without any fantasy elements, but if theyre supposed to be entilery different, that would be fine.
Perhaps they high end units use some of the abilities or are even hybrids of the other races.
It would be hilarously badass if the aliens would also use swords and other melee weapons, but they would look like energy weapons. But its only an idea.

"No. Not even in the face of Armageddon. Never compromise."

Very interesting but unfortunately falls like a mere shadow of Warcraft since that Warcraft included practically all these factions and addresses the same plot of hellish portal and races sub judged by 'Burning Legion'; however a quite different game mechanics and another plot can shine a new game with similar characteristics.

This sounds highly generic.
