GLA vs China

Thought the medium that is Worldbuilder. I put the GLA back into the game (through capture) and played a game vs Medium Army China.

Anyone who is interested in the reply can download it here....

The map is the one posted by Centric - but with a GLA supply centre added to one end of it.

Although this probably helps in some way, here is my suggestion to make the GLA playable :

step 1 : download finalbig .

step 2 : once downloaded open it by double click .

step 3 : use file -> open ( or simply push the open button ) and go to the RotR folder and select 0000BetaROTR.

step 4 : once you've accesed the big file of rotr, scroll down and find the line called PlayerTemplate.ini and click it.

step 5 : in this ini find the line called faction GLA .

step 6 : remove all the ' ; ' in front of the text from the begining of the gla faction to the 'end' .

Then just save the big and exit. Now you can play with or against gla on any map, and yes it even has an AI . However with the new tier system and all, gla does not suffer from the tier weakness of later mbt's and other stuff, and you might find yourselfs overwhelmed by scorpions tongue.gif .

It's 6 verry easy steps wich imo anyone who has more than 1 year experience with a PC can follow.

I did that once in 1.2, and well, I still have to try it in 1.5^^ Certainly, the GLA have one advantage against USA now: Jarmen Kell can, if given time, single handly wipe out hordes of Crusaders XD.gif

Although there are some edits to the GLA - Perhaps copied over from Classic Gens...

For example the rocket buggy has got a force-fire command button.

Yes ZH GLA. If you were eventually refering to my post, I only wrote this because this is the same thing what happens when the new Crusader (and other units) get neutronized and thus the reason why Neutron (and actually Jarmen Kells Neutron Sniper too) have to be removed.

It's kinda anyones guess which faction will be finished first...
GLA has a large amount of standing units which just have to be built upon, but the team have put a lot of work into the ECA.

They two factions are probably equal atm.
Personally I will enable GLA as is, for video purposes.

well, building wise the GLA already (at least theorical from somebody than is not from the team) completed, i mean, the palace and the blackmarket fill the tier buildings perfectly and unit wise i am sure they are more completed than ECA, unless the team is going to change nearly everything in the GLA arsenal, the only thing lacking in the GLA department will be balance, the new units, the tech changes and the Gen powers

This being true, the ECA may be completely ready, but just needing to be implemented into the game.
GLA is a good bet to be the first one to finish - but I think there is more anticipation/demand for ECA

Well actually while the Black Market could as well be used for the second tech tier, I would prefer another building set between Arms Dealer and Palace so the Palace stays the higher tier building. The Black Market should get some abilites (+money) instead of producing upgrades.

Perhaps make the Black Market garrison-able like the palace?

And I'm sure SWR have some epic plans for ROTR's GLA

One of the biggest changes in the ECA is an overhaul of a lot of the models. It may look a bit different but otherwise the same solid faction design.

As ROE was a private Beta, nobody really saw it.

So was pretty much everything one for the European side in that mod? And SWR are just overhauling it?

Because I swear in the screenshots I've seen the ECA had some US buildings as placeholders.

Well, from what was public available, a lot of the screenshots for example, where showing rather well made buildings (compared to ZH), yet they looked inferior to what Russia looks now, thus the team wants to overhaul them all </IMO>
But yeah, some buildings needed placeholders, however the complete GUI was done afaik (the commandbar for example, looked awesome).

I did wonder...

The GLA definately need some bigger guns though tongue.gif
KamuiK and I reactivated GLA and both our bases pretty much fell to one tank rush from china.... it took most of our units (mobs, terorists, tanks, etc) to kill one overlord.
Stinger sites were completely useless - I'd hate to think what it'd be like vs Russia tongue.gif

Yeah, but that first match was only test, the second match was a complete win with good old GLA tactics combined with USAF power wink.gif
However yeah, GLA need a good amount of new toys (and epecially, they need basic ZH things like the Sneak Attack back).

Yes, the GLA which you can re-activate in ROTR seems to be the one from Classic Gens tongue.gif

And we both know there wouldn't have been such a quick victory without cross teching tongue.gif

You can as well extract playertemplate.ini form the ROTR files and delete all ; in front of the GLA entry instead of making up a new file, then proceed as before, as it does prolly the same.

Indeed, crossteching GLA and Russia is HIGHLY effective, even more than GLA + China or USA. Russia brings the cheap yet more effective than GLA counterparts infantry and Mass Production (as well as way better vehicles), while GLA bring in money and several good units (for their prices) being even better when mass-produced and the Tunnels. Think about a whole horde of Russian vehicles, especially things like Tesla Tanks, Golems and Sentinels coming out of a tunnel next to your base. You gotta HAVE to run.
