Hello all i'm a new member here and i would like before all thank you for your great work on ROTR MOD which is really huge.
now i have a few observations to make about some units of russia faction.

1- my main observation is about the sentinel tank; it is very weak compared to the chinese overlord, the fire rate is slower aswell and needs a lot of time to be repared and of course much more expensive and does not crush the enemy light tanks aswell. i will not talk about the price of the sentinel unit because i have read that it's due to the modernized army but, the sentinel tank really lacks the meaning of "super heavy tank" and is actually not worth it's expensive price. i would have love it if it was as durable as the overlord because in my opinion, the overlord is much more reliable than the sentinel.

2- the russian light anti-air tank is way weaker than the chinese gattling gun; put them in a 1-1 fight and the gattling tank will win which will not explaine the expensive price for a "modernized" unit

3- russian defences and structures are being destroyed easily compared to USA or China structures and the bunker it leaves behind does is not of help if you planned the russian structres to be destroyed easily just because it leaves a bunker after destruction " it would be more useful if it has 5 or 6 in it (2 conscript/2 igla/2 rpg conscript) but with just 2 conscript, it's not really useful"

4- the technology advance of russia is a bit slow because they need to build high tech building before moving to the others, and by the same occasion, unlocking new units which leaves the player open to early attacks from hard army enemies or early rushing players

5- kashtan base defence is a bit weak as a first base defence since it can't destroy a troop crawler as fast as a gattling or patriot do. and is being destroyed easily which opens a crack in your early defence tactics and also against air units

6- kodiak tanks come after building a weapon bunker, which puts the player way behind his chinese or usa enemies, in my opinion it should be opened on the very start, and make the golem tank as the second to be unlocked by the weapon bunker

7- this is only a suggestion but it would be more useful if the russian scanning rocket can be upgraded to deal some decent dammage " not very powerful but not that weak either smile.gif"

that's all what i have to say, i hope if any admin can take the time to read my modest analysis and answer each point.

Well first of all, thank you for taking interest in our mod and welcome to the SWR forums.
Secondly, I will try to address some of your points even though I haven't played the mod for quite a while.

Personally, I found it better to use the Sentinel as a high-powered support gun instead of the centre-piece of an assault formation. You can compose an entire attack force solely out of Overlord tanks - if you can afford it - and achieve some good results with decent speed (after the Nuclear Tanks upgrade), impressive firepower and the option to add self-healing, AA-coverage and infantry. The Sentinel is nowhere near that versatile and it's never been intended to be. We designed it to be too sluggish and slow firing to make up the bulk of an effective attack force. The gun may pack a huge punch per shot, but the thing is just too slow and gets overwhelmed easily. Instead, use a few Sentinels alongside other vehicles like Kodiaks and BMPs. Let the Kodiaks do most of the fighting while the Sentinels support them from the 'second line' as opposed to leading the charge themselves and send them forward to soak up damage ONLY when facing other super-heavies. To round off the package, keep a repair vehicle and some infantry nearby; the Sentinel is indeed very expensive and a lot less economical than the Overlord, so make sure you salvage them. The fact that wreckages can be repaired makes Russian vehicles more economical in the long run, IF you micro-manage them well.

As for the Russian defences, much of their weakness is actually not a mistake but an intended feature. The Russian faction in RotR is literally all about offence and attacking. Thus, their static defences are quite lacklustre; the game does not encourage Russia-players to use them much as they're supposed to build up, get out there, and kill stuff as opposed to turtling. They're also intended to have a bit of a hard time at the start of the game (expensive units before you have an industrial plan, MBTs that require a tech-building as with the other factions) because they get very powerful later on. These are the essentials of what you call a 'steamroller' faction in a typical RTS: Inefficient to the point of being handicapped at the start of a game, but nearly unstoppable once they're in full swing.

To answer some of your questions...

2. Tunguska AA has missiles while Gattling Tank has only guns. This fact makes Tunguska better AA (which can also be salvaged).

6. In RotR 1.5, you need tier 1 tech to build MBT. Weapon Bunker for Kodiak. Prop Center for China. Detention Camp for USA.

It's Tier 2 tech but otherwise that's correct.

5. Russian defenses are sub-par because the RF is about offense. Defenses are stop gaps if anything to them. Buy tanks and go offensive.
