Due to overwhelming votes in favor of the patch, this tournament will be played using Knjaz's pvp patch. Link below:

Tournament Format

The tournament follows the simple Double Elimination format. What this means is that players who lose their game once will be moved to the deceptively named losers bracket, where they will continue competing until a second defeat. What this means is that a player is not eliminated unless they lose two games, so remember to use this to your advantage and evaluate your games between rounds.

Matches between players will be best of over a number. Before each round, that number will be made available. Best of format means that the first player to win more than half the games will win. Such as in a Best of Three match, the first player to win two games would win the match and advance.

Matchmaking

The matchmaking for the tournament can be done over any platform, be it the matchmaking thread PM, Skype, Hamachi, Gameranger etc., and it is up to pairs to determine a point in time suitable for everyone. Each round will last approximately a week excluding the first round, which will last an additional day longer due to the participant slots having been filled sooner than expected. There will be a timer on each round, showing how long you have left to play your games and to submit them.

Teams,Factions and the Map

Each game is to be agreed upon by both players to be either Random vs Random or Picked Faction vs Picked Faction. The first map in a match must be Tournament Desert, Barren Badlands or Wasteland Warlords. Subsequent maps will be picked by the loser of the previous game, and may be any of the official maps except Final Crusade and can be either version. Other competitive but unofficial 1v1 maps like Lagoon are allowed if both players agree on playing them, but basically, don't play on maps that limit gameplay to a particular type (such as the camp in Final Crusade) or water it down with tons of tech buildings. Modded and/or scripted maps are strictly disallowed.

Submitting Results

Once you have played your games, the winner of the match must post all the replays via PM to me with a text file containing who won each game and what matchup. Each game must be numbered in the order they are played in. This means that both players must save all the replays in their correct order, as the winner of a match isn't necessarily undefeated during it.

Tournament Rules

1- Do not be unnecessarily rude or insulting. Having a game face is okay, but keep it civil.
2- Do not use hacks or modications of any kind. Hotkey changes are allowed.
3- You must use the 1.802 balance patch (by Knjaz) linked above. Do not discuss it with your opponent, do not waste their time by trying to persuade them to play vanilla or anything, this has been decided almost unanimously by a vote.
4- You must always start with a starting credit count of 10000. Nothing more, nothing less.
5- Repeated as it is extremely important, both players must save all their replays in a patch.
6- For any reason regarding the tournament, you may contact me via PM.
7- If there is dishonest behavior involved in the replay submitting process, notify me immediately and with proof possibly. This is why once again, both players must save the replays.
8- Try not to disappear. You're given a lot of time to play your games.
9- Be easy to find. Frequent the Matchmaking thread, don't keep your opponents waiting. They may be busy people like yourself, so don't make it harder for both of you.
10- Make sure to rename the last replay to save it in case of a disconnection or mismatch. In such cases, the game isn't likely to be replayed unless it is early, and I will check the replays to see if either player was noticably closer to victory.
11- Do not make appeals unless you have a solid case. This simply slows the entire tournament process down.
12- This is a double elimination tournament. Losing a single game doesn't knock you out, so don't disappear assuming you were.
13- Do not substitute for other players without telling me. You may substitute for your friend who is a participant when you are not with a very valid reason, but anything else is strictly a big no.

Just some ideas on some rules:
1) theres your typical Tournament Elimination style Bracket set up.
2) every player will do a best of 3 against his/her opponent.
3) The First map will always be TD or TB, and the loser gets to pick the next map out of a pool of maps (basically the fair ones. we can discuss them below)
4) If a player wins they are moved onto the next stage, and of they are defeated they are kicked out, or moved into a losers bracket.
5) Players have to chat with their opponents about timings for games and the such. But they should make them somewhat soon. we dont all want to wait forever.
6) if a game crashes, or missmatches, the game counts as null and must be replayed.
7) To clarify the results the players should submit replays to the tournament organisers so the results can be justified.
8) If you miss your assigned/organised date for your game thats too bad.
9) no being a general bm dickhead. Keep calm and composed.

Once again, dates will be lax. Lax enough to not slow everything down too much. I am adding you.

After each round I would post the replays from that round. As for commentary, no, I won't be doing it myself, but I will try my luck with Generals Gentlemen unless someone inside the community wishes to make shoutcasts of the tournament games.

If we do this I would play and it would open it up for more people who either don't like the patch or can't play it. I would say we edit the poll so see if people like the idea of two separate tournaments, one with and outwith knjaz's patch.

Wait, but if we did that it would basically turn into 2 different tournaments.... Seems to me that we should stick to 1 otherwise it would be impossible to have just 1 winner and 1 runner up.
