RUSSIAN MILITARY COMPLEX IN FINLAND, CHRISTMAS EVE, 2047

Russian Commander Volkov paced back and forth in front of the captured resistance fighter Armo. He glanced both at his face and his injured foot. Even though Armo had tried to kill Volkov just hours earlier, he had gotten medical help. There's the Geneva Convention to follow, after all.
"So... you're an assassin?" Volkov asked as he studied Armo's modified M-200 sniper rifle.
"Well no shit, Sherlock, I was actually Santa Claus delivering your present: a bullet to the brain!" Volkov's expression remained unchanged, and he picked up the rifle.
"This is some impressive hardware, my friend. You sure you've modified this rifle all by yourself?" He asked.
Armo replied: "As sure as the time I banged your wife when you were in Ukraine!"
Volkov ignored the insults, and continued to fiddle with the rifle. "You know, Mr. Sniper, we have very little tolerance against enemy assassins. If we do not get what we want by the end of the day, we start killing. No, not the prisoner of course, that'd be foolish without the information at hand. But the allies of the prisoner."

Volkov and some of his guards left Armo in the room, with one soldier guarding over him. They'd gotten a message of resistance fighters apparently raiding the base. Good old Fredrik and his distractions, he thought as he smiled gently. Fredrik was a fellow freedom fighter, and a good friend of Armo. When Armo was captured, he'd taken a step ahead and hidden a small tracking device in the back of his mouth, so the Russians wouldn't discover it when they searched him. Soon thereafter, he heard grunts and bangs coming from the staircase. Then, the door flew open and a dead Russian tumbled in. Seconds after, Fredrik entered, calmly shooting the confused Conscript guard in the head. "You took your time." Armo said as Fredrik untied him.
"If you've been a better shot we wouldn't be here." Fredrik replied.
Armo got up and grabbed his gear from the table.
"We can't take the stairs, Russians probably got soldiers all over the place now." Fredrik said.
"Not to worry, I have felt the direction of the airflow and if my guess is right, there should be a ventilation shaft right behind those barrels." Armo said as he pointed at them. Sure enough, a vent shaft large enough for a grown man to squeeze through. Armo and Fredrik entered the shaft and crawled through it.

After a while of crawling through the air ducts, they got to an opening. Below they could see a Russian officer directing troops, who scrambled past. "Bet they've found out about your escape now."
Armo silently hopped down from the vent and crouched behind the officer. After a pair of Conscripts rushed past, Armo hurried up, sliced the officer's throat while he held for his mouth and then laid him down behind a crate. "Come on." he signaled Fredrik. The duo snuck in between and back and forth through offices and supply rooms to lure and confuse pursuers. This tactic was known as 'sekaannus' tactic, which translates into confusion. Armo and Fredrik continued to fool the Russians by throwing dud grenades, toppling stacked boxes using wires and throwing pebbles into air ducts to make the Russians believe they are crawling through them. Soon, they made it to the emergency exit, which had no guards at it because all of them searched for Armo and Fredrik.
"Well, well, well, looks like I've rescued your ass again, what is it, the eight time now?" Fredrik said with a grin on his face.
"We're not out of here yet, we've got to get beyond the fence and into the forest." Armo replied. During wintertime in Finland, night falls quickly. It was only five in the afternoon and it was already dark.

Armo and Fredrik crawled under a parked Ural truck to plan the best move. "We've got two guard towers, each in the corners, the left about hundred and fifty meters away, the other two hundred." Armo said as he scanned the perimeter.
"They've got searchlights, but their pointing the wrong direction. No machine guns, just riflemen." Fredrik said. "The best way out of here would be to make a dash to behind those supply crates, and then cut the wires."
"You brought a wire cutter?" Armo asked.
"Always ready always prepared." Fredrik said, quoting the Finnish resistance force motto. The two soldiers crawled back behind the truck and waited for the Russian patrol to move by.
"Wait for it, wait for it..." Armo said, holding his hand up towards Fredrik. "Go now!" The duo dashed, as silently as possible, towards the supply crates and hopped behind them. "Ha ha, silly Russians. They don't even have the fence electrified." Armo said, peeking through the fence and into the dark forest.
"Yeah, just watch for Conscripts while I cut it open." Fredrik said, readying his cutter. The cutting took only a couple of minutes.
"You know what, Fredrik, this is incredibly easy." Armo said with a mixture of relief and suspicion on his face. "Almost too easy, even for Russians."
"Don't worry about it; just help me expand the hole a bit and then we're out of here." Fredrik said, struggling to widen the hole he made in the fence. The two men then crouched through the fence and into the snow-covered forest.
"There still seems to be something... fishy, about this." Armo said.

The two men hurried to get to their escape vehicle, waiting several kilometers away from the Russian complex. Fredrik said Armo could stop worrying now; they're far ahead of any Russian. But Armo still had a weird, unsettling feeling in his body, like someone- or something, was watching them. Suddenly, Armo heard a noise behind him; he quickly turned around and pointed his rifle into the darkness.
"Jeez, you're jumping at owls in the treetops." Fredrik said. "Come on now, I can see the road in the distance."
But Armo hesitated; he knew he saw some silhouette behind him for a millisecond or so. But then Fredrik pulled his arm and the two were off again. Soon they reached their car, and drove off. The car left a cloud of snow whirling through the air, and it soon settled gently, in front of a pair of bushes not covered in snow. Soon, one of them began to shake a little.
"This is corporal Petrenkov, the tracking device is on their car and they're off." One of the bushes said.
"Good, Petrenkov, this is a job well done." The bush said again, but with a radio-esque voice. Thereafter, the two bushes shook and out popped a pair of elite Spetsnaz troopers, in full scout and surveillance gear.

I'd rather have a Berkut strafe the road and Frogfoots to destroy the road in front of them.

Sneaky Spetsnaz as usual. Good story 8Isov.gif

Hey, if I was the commander in that area, there would be Kodiaks and KA-50s everywhere.. Or is it the Hokum helicopters?

RA1 Volkov is an experimented Cybernatic Soldier. In RA Counterstrike, he is almost invincible. Then in RA Aftermath, he kinda sux. However, this is quite mission specific.
