SWR Productions Forum _ Custom Maps _ China Covert Mission 2

"Good job with securing our foothold in east Africa Comrade. Our army is now arriving in the thousands to protect our economic and military interests in our newly-claimed territories."

"The United States is slowly coming out of its isolation. They have sent Special Forces to Africa to root out any GLA forces they can find. Our once-powerful ally has located a large force of GLA troops on the outskirts of Mount Kenya. They believe the GLA is creating Combat Drugs in a laughable attempt to match our infantry on the field. It would be in our best interests to locate and destroy the drugs lab, before they can enhance the effectiveness of the drugs."

"Black Lotus will once again assist you in this mission. She will infiltrate a supply truck in order to find the drugs lab undetected. See to it that she survives the encounters to come."

Objective 1: Capture the GLA outpost and build up your forces.

Objective 2: Get Black Lotus close to the supply truck in the depot.

Objective 3: Capture the drugs lab.

Objective 4: Destroy all GLA structures.

Hints:

Black Lotus MUST survive

You can only build a limited GLA force in this mission.

There is only one entrance to the outpost you need to capture, but it is lightly guarded by heavily drugged GLA troops.

Once you capture the outpost, secure the entrance quickly before the GLA attacks you.

Beware of Observation Vans, they will be able to detect Black Lotus easily. Destroying them is a priority.

Sometimes it is better to capture rather than destroy....

As always...

Good luck, Comrade.

Another well done mission, and a nice intro for one of the General Mau's units

The compressed zip file is giving me grief again, it's saying it's empty when it's not and when I run winrar on it it'll only give me a file that shows the map

Hope this works.

Just got back from playing the mission, i have a few questions, Is it intentional that i can bankrupt the Green GLA team initially from the capturable base's supply center using black lotus? also i believe the barracks built by workers aren't meant to be able to train Jarmen Kell.

And can i suggest something for the reveal of the demo traps?
Instead of using a singular red guard (which doesn't really make sense) why not use villagers to reveal them both to make it feel a bit more interesting and show the GLA's effect on the area?

Yes, I've done that so the player cannot steal the default $10,000 dollars given, instead you can only steal $2000 + whatever the lone worker brings in. The GLA gain $50,000 after the player captures the outpost, so they can build the strike teams.

That's an issue with the switch command for units in the Barracks's tunnel, well done for spotting that one.

I've done that to showcase Black Lotus's Communication Channel Hack ability. If I use villagers to trigger all three/four demo traps the idea would be obsolete. I'll see if I can use villagers to trigger just one, if not, the doomed Red Guard scout will stay in.

I like all the missions you created for 1.87, the eca, gla and russia.
What I wish now is more for china and usa getting the full missions too, thank you for your effort

Oh damn...is the ECA China's enemy on this one or does China need to help the ECA defend this base because i'm getting vibes that China is either going to try and take this base (depends on how you capture it really) or completely level it, I'm not sure why but that's the feeling i'm getting from just looking at this taster for China Covert mission 3...

Speaking about your missions, Red, have you thought of uploading your previous missions to ModDB, such as Sentinel Slayer? I'm sure others would love to try them.

I'm thinking of updating and incorporating some of them into the campaigns I have planned. For example Pandora's Lock will be the first mission in the ECA Act 2 campaign.

Also a little...preview of mission 5 in the Chinese covert campaign:

My first ever uploaded mission, Dark Horseman, will influence the mission heavily.

I probably won't upload Sentinel Slayer however, as I consider it the worst of my missions to date. When I created it I was far too inexperienced to make a mission of that calibre.

I am toying with the idea of revisiting the mission idea in the future though, as the concept is sound. I would just need to redesign the the map and scripting, which I fell I can do better after the experience I have gained using WorldBuilder and using map.ini.

Edit:

Though I may look at uploading my previous work as a bonus file for the support I've been getting...especially as I won't be uploading on there for a while...great idea jl319 smile.gif

That's funny- its probably one of my favorite missions you made. I revisited it with an addon I have just for fun, and I finally realized my dream of having 3 ECA protocols at the same time, not to mention 2 Manticore Tanks. Nothing could ever make me happier, 2 Manticore Tanks, a Pandora, and a Viking and Valkyrie Venom laugh.gif

Can somebody check if this mission works on the latest build? It seems to crash on launch on my end.

Posted by: jl319 14 May 2018, 8:42

Crashes as well for me. As I said in the your other post, seems like the others work just fine

Same crash as mission one, which is now fixed.

Due to the changes to the Communications Download, it has been replaced with the GLA Command Truck Radar Scan. The Radar Scan has an shortcut icon on the UI as well.

Known Issues:

For some reason the Sabotage Enemy shortcut icon has the Combat Drug picture. I don't know if this is an issue on my end or if it is an issue with version 6.
