Before anything else occurs, I just want to give a link to another fan-fic on this site, http://forums.swr-productions.com/index.ph...amp;hl=darkness as this fan-fic inspired me to do one with similar structure. If you want to thank someone for making this kind of article structure thank Alex1Guy, he does some awesome fan-fics.

PART I: I Expected More Warning

HAVANA, CUBA - MAY 2039

MUSIC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=playe...;v=BpxYwlG8BI8#!

The city of Havana, the grand capital of Cuba, was a diamond on the little island south of the United States. The communist regime had transformed into a small near-puppet government under Russian influence during the 2030's. Although the city was patrolled by police and army soldiers almost 24/7, gangs and drug cartels still roamed the city.

In this very city, a rather Arabic looking man stepped out of the Central Bank of Cuba. The man appeared to be in his late 30's, and he seemed to be very wealthy, dressed in a suit with a tie and carrying a steel suitcase in silver. The man checked his Blackberry telephone, presumably keeping check on his stocks or business meetings. He then proceeded to go down the street in the wealthy district in Havana, walking towards a Lincoln Cruiser further down.

As the man approached the car, he took out his keys and unlocked the car doors. Soon they automatically opened and the man entered the car. The car engine turned on and soon the vehicle was heading upwards towards the main district of Havana. The man donned a pair of sunglasses as he exited the shade of the tall concrete colonial buildings.

In the middle of the ride, his phone rang.

"Hello?" the man asked.

"Is this Pablo Vasquez?" the man on the other side of the conversation asked.

"The very one" Pablo replied. "Are you the contact?"

"I am. Are you on your way?"

"Of course, wouldn't miss a deal like this in my lifetime"

"Wonderful, remember the meeting point"

"Yes, yes, Hotel Santiago, room 34"

Pablo hung up and put the phone in his pocket. He continued the journey towards Hotel Santiago in the central districts. Apparently, he was meeting with an equally wealthy person in room 34 in the hotel. The purpose of this meeting is yet very unclear as Pablo entered the even wealthier central districts.

The man parked his car on a parking lot across the street from the hotel. Unbeknownst to Pablo, he was being watched by two men in shady clothes that stood by the side of street, pretending to be conversing. As Pablo walked up the steps of the hotel the two men followed, keeping their distance but still being close by.

Pablo walked in to a bright and very luxurious lobby. The walls were made out of polished concrete with golden lines spanning the perimeter. The colonial-era ceiling was decorated with Spanish influenced art, but also Portugese and Italian. The distinct catholic influence in the decorations made the hotel seem as a teleport to Barcelona.

Pablo walked towards the reception. He held out his business card and the man behind the desk signaled him to take the elevators. Pablo walked towards the elevators and ascended in one of them. The two shadowing men took the stairs, hurrying up while the lobby personnel didn't seem to take notice.

The elevator halted at the top floor. Pablo walked out and headed down the corridor. He stopped in front of the door labeled 'room 34', and he knocked. From the room came a voice that told him to enter. Pablo stepped into a 5-star suite with a large table and a chair pointed at a large glass window at the furthest end of the room.

"Hello?" Pablo asked.

Pablo expected to see his contact sitting on the chair, smoking a cigar as smoke was seen coming from behind it. The chair turned and he saw none other than the infamous assassin named Jarmen Kell.

"Welcome to Havana, Pablo Vasquez" Jarmen said as he puffed some smoke.

"What are you doing here, where's my contact?"

Pablo turned when he heard a door open to his left and he saw the body of his contact being dragged into the room by a pair of GLA thugs. The two men dropped the body in front of him, and he backed up at the sight. The dead man had a very distinct odor coming from his body; he was presumably killed by a brutal virus they unleashed inside his body.

"What do you want from me?" Pablo asked Jarmen.

"The contents of that suitcase of yours"

"What this, but this is just-"

Pablo was abruptly interrupted as the GLA thugs grabbed the suitcase from him and pushed him back towards the wall. Jarmen opened the suitcase and saw a tray of diamonds worth millions of dollars in today's market. He calmly lifted the tray out from the suitcase and put them by his side. He then proceeded to remove the bottom of the suitcase. Jarmen gazed down in the suitcase, and what he saw was something Pablo was unaware of.

Out of the suitcase Jarmen lifted what looked like some sort of canister. Pablo had no idea what the content of the canister was, but he was sure it was something sinister, presumably some sort of neurotoxin for that madman Ibrahiim he has heard about on the news.

"This will enrich our weapons by a thousand times" Jarmen said as he held the canister up in the sun.

Suddenly, the door burst open and in came the two men that had stalked Pablo to the room. They quickly shot both GLA thugs with their suppressed pistols.

"Jarmen Kell, you are a though man to find" one of the men said.

"I expected more warning. Now I presume you will capture me?" Jarmen asked.

"As right as you are. If you would please-"

The man silenced as he heard the sound of helicopter rotors closing in. Out of the cloudless sky appeared a Gazelle helicopter.

"Get down!" The other man said.

The helicopter opened fire as the two men, Pablo and Jarmen ducked as the hail of bullets unleashed by the helicopter whizzed into the room, annihilating all decorations and furniture in sight.

"Cuba is under GLA control, you all just don't know it yet!" Jarmen said right before he jumped out the window and into the Gazelle helicopter.

Pretty cool, I had an idea as to what happened to Cuba in the early 21st century of the Generals universe to be referenced in a later story I was thinking up. Basically Cuba becomes a prosperous democratic state after the fall of the Castro regime and later be a member of the North American Union.

@USABruce Yes, I know, this is nothing compared to Alex1guy's stories. Hopefully the next part will be longer, much longer (but still the biggest problem is finding fitting music).

@DerKrieger That seems quite possible. I think that perhaps Cuba have fallen under the influence of Russia, because of the social, ethnical and geographical similarities to the SAP.

"No. Not even in the face of Armageddon. Never compromise."

I liked the story, the Cuba could be a perfect base for the operations of GLA.

I'd say the chances of Cuba becoming a member state of the North American Union are near zero, Cuba is an underdeveloped country without international stimuli that can little contribute to the union.

PART II: A Crisis the Smell of Cigar

OFF THE COAST OF CUBA - SOME TIME LATER

MUSIC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBwk6UzFK2Y

"This is Hawker Two-One, we are approaching the LZ, make ready" said the pilot of one of the two Sikorsky Blackhawk helicopters that had been dispatched to Havana from Tyndall Air Force Base. The two helicopters carried two squads of elite US Army Rangers, whose operation is to intercept Jarmen Kell.

"We're above the LZ, go, go, go!" the pilot signaled the Rangers.

The squads repelled down from the helicopters onto the rooftop of an old building just outside of Havana. This building was the believed location of Jarmen. One of the squads prepared to repel down the side of the building while the other scrambled through the door to the stairs.

SOME TIME EARLIER - HOTEL SANTIAGO, HAVANA

"What the, how the, who the...?" Pablo said to the two agents who had saved him just a few minutes earlier.

"No need to be afraid, sir, we're here under orders from the CIA" one of the agents said.

"The CIA? You're American feds?" Pablo asked them.

"Damn straight. Now, we need you to please remain quiet while we contact our task force"

"What was in that canister?"

The agents didn't answer, so Pablo stepped up towards one of them.

"What did they take? And why wasn't I aware of it!?" Pablo demanded.

The agent sighed.

"If you need to know, the canister contained the final ingredient needed for a new kind of nerve agent to be developed by the GLA" he said. "Kell was dispatched by a man named Tahar Ibrahiim, AKA the 'Frenchman'. Several years ago he had his men raid a chemical weapons depot in Sierra Leone controlled by the French Foreign Legion. The depot contained everything needed for the agent except this very one. Turns out a man named Armando Vera owned the ingredient here on Cuba; so the CIA struck a deal with him in exchange for asylum in the States. The Cuban police had Vera on their watch list you see, so we had a regular businessman like you unknowingly deliver it to our contact here in Havana, but apparently the GLA got wits of it, and arrived here before you"

"So there was never a deal?"

"Oh no, you'll get the other half of the business deal. Unfortunately it got shred to pieces..."

Pablo and the agent turned their heads to a shredded suitcase on the floor with thousands of $100 bills.

"Why don't you grab what's left of it" the agent said as he patted Pablo on his shoulder.

The other agent had now finished his call and the agents were soon out of the room. Pablo bent down and picked up whatever good bill he could find. Only three bills were left undamaged. Better than nothing, Pablo thought. Pablo got up and exited the room, still a bit confused about what recently happened. Nevertheless he exited the hotel
and entered his car. Pablo strapped on his seatbelt and turned on the engine, but that was when he felt the cold touch of metal on his throat.

"Hello Vasquez..."

BACK WHERE WE LEFT OFF

Jarmen turned his head in surprise when a squad of US Army Rangers smashed through the old factory buildings and into the warehouse. Another squad kicked open the doors to the staircase and all of sudden a flashbang grenade lay in the middle of the room. The grenade went off in a bang and every single GLA rebel were blinded by the flash. When the light had cleared away, Jarmen saw that his brothers had been shot and he had several rifles pointing at his head. It seems the Rangers had Jarmen captured but all of sudden a crate opened and inside were none other than Pablo Vasquez tied to a chair with two AK rifles pointing at him.

"Put guns down" a rebel said.

The Rangers backed off a little.

"PUT THEM DOWN!" he ordered them.

The Rangers couldn't risk the life of a Cuban citizen, but all of sudden the two rebels got shot at the very same time.

"You didn't forget about me, did you?" asked an Army Ranger Pathfinder over the intercom, whom he and his partner had just shot the rebels.

"We almost forgot about you" the Ranger commander replied. "So, Jarmen Kell, are we going to do this the easy way or the hard way? I'd like to do it the easy way because there's a baseball game at five"

Jarmen remained silent, observing the Rangers as they untied Pablo and dragged the rebel bodies away. Pablo got escorted out by two Rangers, and soon Jarmen and the Rangers were alone in the building.

"After what we will do to Cuba, we will do to America" Jarmen said "And then China, and later the entire world will see the true cause we present. You are all just blinded by your foreshadows"

"Yes, perhaps, but that won't happen during your lifetime, I can prove that to you"

"Oh, I think it will"

Suddenly, the infamous Gazelle helicopter rotors once again overpowered the distant music of Havana. The helicopter appeared out of the treetops and hovered in place in front of the building. The Rangers aimed but didn't have time to fire before the helicopter unleashed a deadly barrage of lead towards the poor soldiers. One of them got shred to bits while another ones head exploded by a bullet. Jarmen ducked and covered from the bullets, and before you know it the spray had stopped. The Ranger commander had only been shot in his leg and survived, so he grabbed his trustworthy M9 sidearm and aimed at Jarmen.

"You bastard! You'll pay for this, Kell" he said.

"I am sure of it. That day, my friend, will come another time"

Jarmen exited the building with orderly fashion, knowing the Ranger was too shocked to pull the trigger. Outside, Jarmen entered one technical truck, a truck that had seconds before kidnapped Pablo again and killed the two Rangers. The two technical trucks vanished in a cloud of dust on the old football field, and were soon out of harms way.

The Ranger commander grabbed his radio.

"They had goddamn air support! I thought intel told us they didn't have anything like that!" he said.

"Damn it!" The man on the other side of the line said. "I will surely put a bullet in the brain of our spies if they inform us wrong the next time! Regroup at 23-15-08 and await new orders"

"WILCO"

Interesting story but I think the Rangers would have shot the Cuban guy instead of putting down their weapons.
Don't forget, Rangers are trained Special Force Unit (not a common soldier like in ZH).

The Rangers couldn't risk the life of a Cuban citizen, so they dropped their rifles. Jarmen got up and grabbed one of the M4A1 carbines. The rebels grabbed their Kalashnikov rifles and pointed them at the Rangers. Jarmen stepped forward to the table where the canister lay.

I dont know....If the US is so keen on deploying specail forces on forign soil on then ROTR timeline with the isolated defence stratagey....I dont think they will mind a death of one person....Heck they might even make up some false evidence that shows him with the GLA.

Second chapter was abit dissapointing, Chemcial weapon>one persons life really....

still hope to see more

There's nothing fundamentally wrong with this. You are free to ammend your story and none of us is gonna begrudge you for it. I like the overall gist of this one as well but it shouldn't be too hard to change a few things and make it more plausible/interesting. The Rangers could of course acknowledge that there are civilian life at stake but continue their mission. Makes Jarmen look much more like a badass if he somehow makes it out of there anyway.

PART II: Dual Hostages

OUTSIDE OF HAVANA - SAME TIME

MUSIC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HckgsD8M8l0

The gunner of the GLA technical looked behind himself and spotted four Cuban police cars chasing after them. The gunner told the driver to step on the gas, and the two technical trucks split up. The one bearing Pablo headed off into the countryside and the other back into the city. Two police cars chased after the vehicle Pablo was inside, which also happened to be the one Jarmen was riding as well.

"Open the skylight!" Jarmen said as he grabbed his Dragunov sniper rifle.

Jarmen popped out of the skylight and told the GLA gunner to duck. Jarmen aimed his rifle at the driver of the first police car. He took the shot and the bullet hit him straight in the head. The police car veered to the right into a field, but the other avoided it. Jarmen aimed for its wheels this time. He fired and one of the front wheels went up in a pop. The car veered out of control and soon crashed just like the previous one. Jarmen got back into the technical.

"You can take it easy now Fernando" Jarmen said. "There are no more cars chasing us"

The vehicle continued on to its destination.

Back in Havana, the police cars had been reinforced with a couple of extra squad cars and the chase was in full swing. The GLA gunner of the technical swung around and opened fire with his PKM machine gun. The first police car's engine exploded in the middle of the street. Just as the gunner was about to open fire on the other cars, an armored enforcer van popped out from a side street, blocking the view of the other squad cars. The van was an American-made MRAP truck, given by the US government to Cuba in exchange for military access. The machine gun was no match against the reinforced armor and bulletproof windows of the MRAP. The MRAP speeded up and rammed the technical right in its rear bumper. The GLA driver lost control for a bit, running through several street stands, after which he regained control. He took a sharp turn into a small alley where the MRAP couldn't follow, and was soon out of sight.

Just as they exited the alley and drove into a larger street, an American Viper helicopter appeared out of the sky. The Viper opened fire on the technical, killing the gunner and damaging the hull. Both rear tires exploded and the technical veered into a building. Seconds after, the police cars arrived and many armed law enforcement officers stepped out armed with carbine rifles and riot gear. The GLA was dangerous people and all precautions had to be taken, suicide bombers and all that. The police searched the wrecked technical, and only one person was alive; the driver. The police grabbed the driver and got him to a hospital.

The other technical had now arrived at its destination. Pablo could hear the GLA talking in Arabic, and before you know it they opened the door and tossed Pablo out on the ground.

"Get up" a GLA grunt said as he pulled Pablo up.

The grunt led Pablo into a large mansion in the countryside. The mansion appeared to be a colonial-era settlement, with curved architecture and stone walls. Even some paintings were from that period. The GLA had of course used the mansion as a hidden forward operating base, many weapons and ammunition lay around the place. Jarmen Kell went up into his personal room, and the GLA grunt tied Pablo to a chair in the living room.

"Here's a remote for the TV" the grunt said as he tossed a remote control to Pablo, completely ignoring the fact that his hands were bound and had no way of using the remote.

Pablo looked around himself. The room had several sofas and weapons lying about, and through the windows he could see what appeared to be a pool outside. These rebels sure live luxuriously. Pablo saw a GLA rebel sleeping on a chair in the corner of the room. The rebel seemed to be quite young, around 19-20 years old, with no beard and probably nowhere else to go. He tried to wake the rebel, but he just wouldn't want to wake up. All of sudden, a pair of thugs entered the room with Jarmen Kell following.

"What the fudge do you want from me?" Pablo demanded.

"You will see, soon enough" Jarmen said. "Without you, we might not be able to accomplish our mission the Frenchman has given us"

"What kind of mission?"

"What else? Detonate-"

Jarmen was interrupted as a GLA informant stepped into the room in a hurry, speaking to Jarmen in Arabic and soon Jarmen and one of the thugs were out of the room. Pablo was now alone with one GLA thug and a sleeping rebel.

"Don't try funny business" the thug said.

The thug grabbed the remote and turned on the TV. On the TV was a news report about the recent events in Havana. An entire squad of US Army Rangers had been killed recently, followed by a car chase in Havana. Apparently the driver of the car was now in questioning by the CIA. Pablo couldn't see more as the thug switched to the sports channel. Soon thereafter, Jarmen returned.

"Bring him" Jarmen said.

CIA FOB, HAVANA - SAME TIME

"If you do not give us what we want, we'll take it!" a CIA questioner said in front of the GLA driver's face.

"Easy, Fergusson, we'll sure get the information we need" CIA Agent Coleman said as he entered the room holding a document. "This, my fellow, is a document signed by a defecting rebel, and he has told us, that you have hundreds of chemical weapons all across Cuba. Be this true?"

"I know nothing about such details" the questioned man replied.

"I bet you do!" Fergusson said as he slapped the man.

"Take it easy, now" Coleman said as he signaled Fergusson to calm down. "We have positive ID on several operatives working for the GLA here on Cuba, one of which is named Jarmen Kell, an elite sniper. Do you happen to know of his whereabouts? Our surveillance teams has gotten nothing"

"Listen, if I knew anything, I'd tell you, right?"

"I'm getting tired of playing games, compadre," Fergusson said as he leaned over the GLA captive "but we need some freaking info, okay? You tell us what we want, and you'll go free, savvy?"

"I have told you already, I know nothing!"

Suddenly, the Army Ranger commander that had survived the shootout in the building some time ago entered the room. He carried what appeared to be satellite images of a mansion out in the countryside.

"While you and your fed friends attempt to gain some intelligence from this guy I might present you with positive location confirmation of Jarmen Kell" he said as he handed the images to Coleman. "These are images taken from a spy drone, launched by one of our Vanguards in a scouting party. They also found the wreckages of two Cuban police cars just three miles south-southwest of the mansion"

"Thank you, commander Stephens" Coleman said to Stephens as he got up from his chair. "So, mister rebel, can you please tell us if this is the location of Jarmen?"

The GLA captive hesitated a bit, but then Fergusson pulled out his service pistol and put it against his head.

"You answer now, damn it, or I'll blow your brains out right here, right now!"

"Okay, okay!" the captive answered in a nervous tone. "I know the layout of our hidden base that is the one on the picture"

"Alright let's go!"

Coleman, Fergusson and Stephens exited the room as two Cuban police officers prepared to take the captive to custody.
