Having had an inspiration, I want to know what the community thinks. I pretty much just threw thought into writing here.

American SpecOps Commando Nathan Aslan

0200 Zulu

A few miles east of the old Berlin Wall, outside Berlin

Nathan had received orders from General Thorn to reconnoiter the position of a Russian supply base that was supplying the holed up Ruskies in Berlin earlier today. It hadn't gone unnoticed by the Solaris satellites. While the Euros kept the Russians busy, Nathan back traced the supply trucks to their base.

"General Thorn, sir, I have found the supply base. Awaiting orders, Lone Wolf out."

Lone Wolf was not only Nathan's code name, but an apt description of him as well. He had grown up in the States, where however is top secret. Nathan never worked well with teams, preferring to go at it alone. Most of his life he was a loner. He never did care for other people, often finding out the terrible nature of many people. Nobody ever listened to him, but he didn't care. When he was right about someone, he usually left it be.

Prior to joining the Seals, he was a pro mechanic and a street racer. He had a lot of money from winning these races. One day he got caught and he didn't go to prison quietly. He took out about 35 police officers before they knocked him out. He didn't care for the police either because he felt they were corrupt. They also got people hurt. The fact he took out 35 professionally trained officers didn't go unnoticed. He was contacted a few days after the incident by an Army recruiter. He accepted the offer mainly because he wanted to travel the world.

Nathan was stationed in Germany in 2040 to monitor any Russian activity that may lead to war. He had suspected that Russia would attack Europe within the decade. And he was right. He was in the middle of a street race when the Russians attacked in 2045. He rushed back to base and reported Russians had invaded. Being one of the few people to see and describe the vehicles the Russians were using without being seen drew the attention of General Thorn. After giving Nathan a test to see what his capabilities were, General Thorn had Nathan transferred to his direct command.

"Lone Wolf, can you see what kind of defenses the base has? How many personnel? Can you get in and blow it to smithereens?"

"Thorn, sir, I can see a few Kashtans and some RPG turrets. I also see a blackout node setup in the middle of the base. As for soldiers, mostly conscripts with a few shock troopers in command. I can take out the power source for the Blackout node, however I will need some Artillery to blow this place to hell. "

This base had been supplying the Russians for sometime now, and it wasn't able to be seen by satellites due to the blackout node. The reason it was found was due to a malfunction in a Solaris satellite that caused it to stop orbiting above. The programming had glitched, but for once it was a good thing. It had spotted a convoy heading towards Berlin leaving the base outside the node's range.

"Lone Wolf, cut the sir crap. It isn't needed. OK, let me talk to Euro Command."

"Sorry, old habits die hard."

Five minutes later, Nathan's radio crackled to life.

"Lone Wolf, Euro Command has 6 Claymores standing by for you. You will have to send up a flare to signal where they will bombard the base."

"Would blowing up the node be a good flare?"

Thorn chuckled at the sly humor "Yes it would."

"Proceeding with demolition, Lone Wolf over and out."

Nathan killed all of his comm gear and went over to his car. He popped the trunk and grabbed a Javelin launcher and loaded it. He also grabbed his prototype 25MM sniper rifle. It might not have been a .50 cal those Brits like to use, but it did the job just as well with twice the range. He left the car in camouflage mode in case some Ruskie came across it. He ran the 2 miles to the spot he spotted the base and setup a small nest.

He setup and radioed Thorn "General, tell those boys to be ready for my flare."

Thorn radioed the Claymores to standby for the flare.

Nathan took aim, and let loose the Javelin. It hit the top of the node.

"Shit, shit, shit." he said as he loaded his 2nd missile and let it rip.

Down went the node with a massive fireball going into the night sky.

The Ruskies at the base scrambled trying to figure out where the missile had come from.

About two minutes later, they heard a distant thunder when shells began to rain into the base.

"Ha, let the bastards walk away from that." Nathan said with a smile.

"General, base is a giant crater. Couldn't you have given me something more of a challenge?" Nathan said with a hint of sarcasm.

"Lone Wolf, you will get your chance. A lot sooner than you think. RTB for debriefing, I will meet you personally for your next mission. Thorn, out."

"What the hell am I getting thrown into now? He never briefs me personally. Maybe an assassination?" Nathan wondered as he was going back to his car.

First attempt here, I am curious as to what the community here thinks. Also, I will accept constructive criticism.

If you ever decide to invade Russia, for the love of God, bring some warm clothes. We don't want you to blame the "evil Russian winter" when you get crushed, like everyone else who tried.

Good story. smile.gif
Are you planning to expand the story or you'll just leave it the way it is now? If you go for the story, I'd advise you to continue with the general narrative, but also be a bit more descriptive. This is great, but I have a feeling that you did this during lunch-time or a brake or whatever. I can only imagine what would you make if you only had the time or will to get more into it.

it was a fast inspiration. I just write down what comes to mind. I was considering having him lead a team but then I thought why not make him a lone wolf? haha

The last name Aslan sounds more like a Turkish last name than German. Is he a German-born Turkish-American combo or there isn't any deeper story to it?

I actually got it as a rare Viking/German name. I wanted something creative. I will be continuing the story soon.

In that case, damn good find. I wouldn't even say that's a Germanic name when I saw it.
Please do continue. It's looks like a very promising story. smile.gif

Nathan Aslan, the German-American commando, began to flashback to 20 years ago.

Life was bad, the economy in shambles, and the American public ashamed of the Paulson Presidency due to pulling out of Germany. He was just graduating college when it all happened. He was a nut for history. All of the great nations that had risen had also fallen. Spain, Great Britain, France, Japan, China, even the Aztecs. He knew that sooner or later America would fall from grace. Even though he had not expected it to happen in his lifetime, he knew that all imperialist countries and nations did. But he had not expected it to be personal. When the GLA sleeper cell invaded the West Coast, Nathan had family out there. They had perished in the wake of the GLA fleeing with the bio-chemical weapons. He was furious and wanted to find the man responsible for ordering that invasion. He would never get his chance, as DeathStrike was assassinated by an unknown assailant. He began to come back to reality as he was driving.

The alarm in his car wouldn't quiet down, so he turned it off manually. He pulled up the infrared radar and saw a detachment of Grumbles zipping across the Autobahn in the direction of Berlin.

"What the hell?" He thought to himself.

He drove a few miles up the back road and watched as an armored battalion of Golems, Tunguskas, Kodiaks, Buratinos, and Msta's made their way across the highway. He looked back and saw about 3 miles back the Grumbles following.

"Oh shit," He said to himself. "That's not good."

"General Thorn, come in please. Lone Wolf here. Switch to secure channel."

"Channel secured Lone Wolf. What do you have for me?"

"General, I just spotted a Ruskie armor battalion headed straight for Berlin. Multiple Golems, Tunguskas, Kodiaks, Buratinos, and Msta's followed 3 miles back by Grumbles. At least 10 Grumbles. They aren't messing around."

"Damn, there was a gap in satellite coverage tonight. It was supposed to cover major roadways into Germany."

"What do you mean a gap in coverage?"

"To put it simply Lone Wolf, our satellites work on a different frequency than the Euros. We had a base setup to work out a medium frequency for communications purposes. However, the base was taken out by a Sokol strike 2 hours ago."

"Can't be a coincidence. How would they have known right where to hit the base? I thought it was Level 6 clearance."

"It was. The location was known to a select few people."

"General, sounds like we got a mole in command."

"Yes we do Lone Wolf, RTB ASAP. I will brief you on the mission."

"Roger that, Lone Wolf out."

Feeling that something was wrong, Nathan raced to the base in his usual style. General Thorn was waiting for him. After the formalities were made, Thorn and Nathan walked to a secure room. The room was older in style but very modern. It was swept for bugs daily, and anyone that entered had to have a level 9 clearance unless overridden. In Nathan's case it was. He had only level 7 clearance. Thorn had the highest possible clearance. They both sat in the leather/suede chairs and began their briefing.

"Nathan, due to the circumstances involving this mission I am elevating you to level 10 clearance. Anything and everything our military and the Euro military discusses is now available to you for use. As for the mission, you are to find the mole. You may use any methods you deem necessary. This is black ops, off the books wet-work. The mole is to be found and caught alive. Anything this mole does to aid the enemy or hinder us is to be documented. This is why you have been elevated to level 10. Depending on the outcome, you will either keep level 10 clearance or be brought back down to level 7. Am I clear?"

"Yes sir. Crystal. May I ask one question?"

"Of course, ask away."

"Why me?"

"Nathan, I have watched how you do work. When you want to find something out, you find it out. Even if your methods are illegal. Those skills are very rare to have, and you are the only person I would trust with this mission."

"I understand General, when do I begin?"

"As soon as you are ready. Dismissed."

Nathan left the room and began later that night.

"Dagger here, Yeltsen nice job with taking out that communications base. Those damn Yanks and Euros can't work together on anything. We have delayed them from going into Berlin by a few months.

"Ha, I highly doubt they realize you are working for us. I will notify my commander that the strike was successful. By the time they realize we sent those reinforcements to Aleksandr, it will be too late."

Nathan turned on his trusty old ICOM radio and began tuning into Russian frequencies when he overheard this communique.

"Who the hell is Dagger?" Nathan thought to himself.

Excellent. Not too long, non-predictable and very appealing story. smile.gif
