Alright, I agree with u )) Challenger Leclerc and Leopard are very similar to each other But we could find something more heavy like MBT Revolution there are interesting perspective hardware here and here ok but it doesn't mean all european models should be funny and cartoon )) I prefer perspective real military hardware from NEAR FUTURE. It look more attractive and solid I'll do models with pleasure for u and project. As I know scripts will be the same I can't help but feel you're still missing the point of this mod, as it stands now it's very much in the theme of Generals and ZH, if you start skinning and modelling to exact machines and hardware that currently exists you detract from the game and the sole theme of it. I think the "cartoony" aspect that you're picking up on is down to the fact that you've never personally seen anything like it before == surreal. There definately isn't anything wrong with that they've done, are doing or are planning to do, thier attention to balance and playability will far out-weigh time spent on modelling and such, this makes for a great game/mod and should definately be prioritized, besides they've already said suggestions are not welcome, presumably because they have a lot of work already planned for the foreseeable future. |

I'd also like to point out that the SWR is not taking any suggestions for ROTR, because they already have everything planned out.

If we're going to start removing "cartoonish" and unrealistic units from the game I think we can throw out all the tesla units, the shocktrooper, anthrax as a battlefield weapon and the Commanche as an attack chopper. I would much rather play a GAME with creative than real world units.

Hi Bros )))
Why this thread has been allowed to stay open is what confuses me the most. Darkfire Angel, there is no apartheid here we can discus any thing without any permission I'm not going to argue and swear just want to voice an opinions of all Russians/Ukrainians/Belorussians: We find this mod incredible interesting cause we can get OUR NATIVE T-90, Ka-50 and etc. our perspective hardware what ISN'T used in REAL army and I assume that many of Europeans would like to play with them modern military hardware and from foreseeable future like Americans and Chinese and Guys from the RSA and Philippines cannot understand this military competition ))) cause weapon from them countries didn't take a part in greats conflicts of XX century (Vietnam, North Korea and Middle East) It's very thrilling to find out whose technology is better. Cold war Crisis is very good example of mods but weapon is to old )) and only 2 factions If you do not accept proposals - pardon me for my persistence. In that case I wish u release ROTR 2.0)) And thanks to all buddies who answered )) I'm so glad the mod is steal alive)) |

We are indeed not taking any more suggestions at this point. Our faction designs are entirely planned out and now we're
working on getting this stuff into the game, so there won't be any groundbreaking changes. Cheers for your nice words, though. We greatly appreciate the positive reactions from our Russian and eastern European followers as well. |

Then I wonder, did you really get the unique stuff already cut out for the Secret Police and his bad-assery, I mean, do you have enough units planned out for a general that destroys your base inside-out? I'm just excited knowing you guys are out of the planning stages.
PS- +1 confirm for advanced hackers. -------------------- |

Most of the planning was completed long ago in 2007, shortly after it all started.

Except I think it's been mentioned more than once that suggestions are not going to be used or, in both this and the Q&A thread, and it's always been the SWR policy to lock suggestion threads to avoid pointless arguments.
Also it's always been stated that RotR would keep the feel and style of ZH, ie units that are only partially based no actual units or stylized rl units. -------------------- 1991-2009 Commander JB. Gone but never forgotten.

I'm good at 3d-max and web-technologies I could help with web site what if we will make a readiness list of units, mission and etc. (like this and this) I'd support it ))) It would be great motivation and a seduction to ask about release date will disappear This post has been edited by Joac: 31 Aug 2010, 16:22 |

Speaking of Stylized RL units, you considered a beefed-up missile-launching Buffalo for Thorn?

@Joac: Not trying to resurrect an argument, but the ECA units are actually based off real units to an extent. Just think about it...
The Lynx is very similar to the Swedish Bv 206 and the Finnish Sisu NA-110. The Jagdmammut is comparable to the WWII German StuG III and Jagdpanther. The Claymore is very similar to the German PzH 2000 and the British AS90. The Leopard seems to be very close to the Lecerc, Leopard 2A6 and even the Challenger 2 to an extent. The Tiger Mk. 2 bears resemblance to the Eurocopter Tiger. While not visibly similar, the Goshawk seems to be designed as a replacement for the Harrier/Sea Harrier, which are currently used primarily as STOVL and VTOL attack craft. Finally, I'm not sure that you can technically say that the team hasn't put any "realistic" units in the game. Compare the A400m and the A400M. Similarly you have the Vulcan and the Vulcan. Again, please don't yell at me, I'm just trying to point out some facts. I don't want to be responsible for yet another forum argument. P.S: On the "cartoony" thing. These models are actually pretty good. If you want to see cartoony models just turn to the Red Alert series. A real shame that they went that way. |
