I prefer to pick fantasy over realistic and scifi since I started to see those two have less variety feel compared to fantasy theme.
I'm not sure what to choose but I like the science fantasy niche genre. Magic are reality bending phenomenons and not "spells", demons are actually alien from a different dimension, and humans, elf and what else repeat theirs mistake and become cavemen once again, but with guns.
W40K is not original but it's unique in a sense that it was among the first ones to have the "anything could exist here and it would actually fit in well" theme.
In all other realistic, hard sci-fi or fantasy games, anyone asking for a scenario with WWII soldiers fighting in endless waves against terminator alien robots who greatly dislike magic casting elfs would be laughed at for obvious reasons. But not here. This kind of setting was created exactly for that kind of reason. A mix of everything that we think are the coolest cultural bits.
