Not only that, but there is absolutely nothing to do here. I've heard that this place is referred to as "the gateway". Not the gateway to hell mind you, but because it's the half way point between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. If you've ever seen the Disney movie "Cars", you'd know what Barstow is like. It's pretty much like Radiator Springs but with a criminal element. The only reason people stop here is to get supplies, no one should be living here.

cyan neon are places where I was living or I live (the biggest mark)
red stars are places where I has been for at least 1 week (except Germany, I was there on 2 one afternoon trips)
I would like to change this score, but I don't have much spare money or time (my parents travelled further than me, father was on camp in Denmark (once got to Sweden when he was supposed to be in Denmark mindfuck.gif ), my mum was born on Siberia, her father was soldier, so they had to move around the USSR, Mongolia and Hungary 8Isov.gif
My father was an assertive rebel so he could be on that summer camp or study on air mechanic in Kiyv where he met my mum.).
So what can you find in my further neighbourhood?
these:

these:

these:

(I meant those liquid)
these:

(wikipedia, from Dezidor)
these:

or these wacko.gif :

and this is faculty where I study (in Brno):

http://www.fit.vutbr.cz/
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In my town
sometimes these

meet these (I don't live in Brno)

so these have to be called again... :

(also sticks like this appear then: )

(luckilly all this "wanna-fight" mess happens mostly just in small measures, mostly in pubs I8.gif )

African americans are less than 0.5% of the population here. If you want to see a lot of them in Brazil you can always go to the Northeast. There is a Mulato at 1:42 though at the left, he's approx. 65% black.

Looks like a very geographically diverse area. The waterfall at 0:19 reminds me of the Catawba Falls in western North Carolina, not far from my grandparents' home, and the vista at 0:28 was highly reminiscent of the Grand Canyon.

sorry that I have already created another topic with this (I miss "delete" button on this forum),
because I think it's also suitable for this thread.
During week I am in the college house of the University of Technology in Brno.
And this is what I can see during twilight from a window:
http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/433/koleje.jpg
(click to see the whole picture, currently it's my desktop wallpaper)

First I took 2 photos with 1.6MPix phone camera then connected and fixed them in the GIMP (I had to use perspective tool, clear those photos from noise - esp. sky, change colours a bit).
However some details couldn't be fixed - like blue Siemens neon light.

Near buildings are college house buildings, there is by-pass highway behind those trees (and few other things),
those buildings in the front of the tall one are office buildings which belong to Siemens, IBM, sgi and few others.

That tall building is main building of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication connected to main building of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in the right side and other buildings which belong to these faculties, few more buildings are behind. Simply it's whole campus of two Brno University of Technology faculties.
http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/981/spa0553.jpg

However my faculty (IT) lies a quarter hour away by foot.
http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/1315/spa0541.jpg

Now you can see, how this camera on Samsung mobile phone takes photos (inferior to any real digital camera).
I think about getting some real camera, but currently I don't have spare money on this (and I think I'll buy one, because in Summer I am going to Alaska to work hard in one salmon-processing factory).

However do you think this hour GIMP job was worth for it?

My town finished building this recently. I forgot the English name for this thing but it keeps the sea water (left) from blending in with the river (right) to guarantee the ocean looks beautiful year round regardless of tide or weather.

It is roughly 1 kilometer long and happens to be a wonderful fishing spot as well because you can technically go deep in the ocean on foot and stay dry too.

Posted by: Chyros 28 Sep 2010, 10:14

People eat dogs here, and I hate it for being one of them, for I can't stomach the fact that one could eat his own faithful companion. sad.gif

Posted by: MARS 6 Aug 2013, 5:53

That totally looks like the typical rural, super-idyllic US smalltown that would be under threat from aliens, monsters or a deadly virus in every B-movie ever.
But the mayor won't allow the feds to get involved because he doesn't want to ruin the thanksgiving/independence day/founding anniversary celebrations that only happen once every year. XD.gif

Posted by: Neo3602 6 Aug 2013, 6:19

I hope that dosen't happen though its not too small it has around 15,000 people which is 3 times more than the town I spent most of my child hood in which was Milton, Wisconsin and had around 5,000 people in it
Though if an alien invasion/ deadly virus(zombies?)/ monster attack happened I think the we would be ok because there is a depot where the U.S Government has stockpiled around 60? billion rounds of ammo near by so I think that thwy would probably come in any way to protect their ridiculous ammo stock pile
then again mabey not because I'm pretty sure it is just one of many around the country

Also I forgot to mention that it si a college town home to Fort Lewis College and a large number of stoners because pot is now legal in Colorado

- Edwards Airforce Base (Yes, you wouldn't be surprised at the number of aircraft maneuvers that happen. I've seen Chinooks, F-22s, UH-60s, A B-2 Spirit (only once though) )

- And of course, Pentagon, Norfolk, Fort Myer, barracks, barracks, barracks.

Wait, you're from Milton? I'm from Monroe, Wisconsin!

Wow didn't think that I someone else on this forum was from the same area that I grew up in, When I lived in Milton I lived on Madison Ave in the yellow house with the wraparound front porch and the gravel drive way.

Also is that Mech in you Picture from the Supreme Commander Forged Alliance mod Total Mayhem?

Nice to see fellow Oregonians around.

Hory shet! Another Oregonian. North of Portland outside Scappoose.

I don't know Milton well enough to know where your house is, as I think I only really went there for tennis matches, or when I was on my way to Whitewater.

The mech in my profile is the Cougar mech from the Xbox game Mechassault. I checked out the mod, and it has some really cool looking models.
