I've had this error before.
The extension has to end with .jpeg, .gif, .png
etc.

No way around this, it's a security feature of the forum

Best way is to always post on sites such as imageshack. If you did a hotlink, that often does not work. Also it should be in png, jpg or gif.

When posting the image, you must use the "direct link" code that is given to you in the topmost yellow box when uploading at Imageshack.

I have seen your links in the mean time:
http://img186.imageshack.us/i/sshot005.png/
http://img136.imageshack.us/i/sshot002jpg.png/
They should look like this:
[img ] http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/2429/sshot005.png [ /img]
[img ] http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/6393/sshot002jpg.png [ /img]
Note there must be NO empty signs in and between the img tags and your links.
How so? In Imageshack, rightclick your picture and select 'show grafic', so only the picture shows up, then copy its link.

Or he can just use the (much easier for someone his age) way I suggested and just copy the Direct Link that Imageshack provides you after the upload.
