Recently, Jim Vessella, a former EA producer who was a part of TibWars, KW and RA3 development, and now takes part in Rivals dev.team, stated that EA is going to create a proper C&C fo PC, and it may be a remastered version of one of the older games in the series. He asks to leave your ideas on OpenRA forums.

Just want to hear your opinion on it, guys and gals.
Mine is: stop it already, and let it rest; but if you won't, then make it just a graphical and engine upgraded version of the original game, without changing any game mechanics. I prefer remastered RA2 or Tib sun BTW.

Having the original C&C or Red Alert get released as a remaster is something i wonder why they haven't done so already to be honest.

As for the game announcement i'm not hyped or anything and i'll reserve any judgement until i actually get to see something.

If they actually do something like SC remaster where all the old things are still there but look much better, then it's a good thing and should bring back the hype of the old days for awhile. And maybe down the lines we'll get a new game that followed the same formula, and the franchise will return from the grave

But if the top EA executives interfere and want to dumb it down to attract "new audiences" for quick cash like it did before then it's gonna be an even greater insult than Rivals or Twilight.
Generals 2 F2P died not because of backlash from the community like they said officially even though there was many criticisms, but because the top guys want to kill it due to corporate sheanigans. Let's hope this won't happen again.

my response on Reddit:
Since we're talking about EA and they just released the abomination called Rivals, I am going to remain sceptical until I see the full released product and all that it encompasses. Especially anything that involves my hard earned money.

My main wishes:
Replay mode
multiple spectators
good PvP ballance
dedicated and community owned servers that don't shut down after 2 years
streamer interactions / promotions

Give us this and we may talk

Ideally I want the franchise out of EA's hands. Everything from Twilight onward has been a nightmare. I won't be surprised if the whole project is cancelled if they try to mess the formula around like they did with Generals 2. So I'm not getting my hopes up.

I know this sounds stupid but I'd like to see them reach out to the modders of all C&C games and allow their creative input to the new project.
Hell, these are people who work on the games in their free time for no pay because they are passionate about keeping C&C alive and respected.

I don't trust EA, but IF they pull this off and it looks like they have (at least) attempted something decent...they will regain a fraction of my trust back.

Until then, at least we have mods around to satisfy the hunger for new C&C.

No, because you'll get the same deal as with Mark Skaggs a few years back, where modders, after signing a contract, no longer can work on their own projects

As long as EA is touching C&C with their dirty hand I don't see any hope for any decent result.

I know this is an ancient topic, but I don't want to make new a thread just to post this.

Apparently, this went beyond my expectations. In a good way, really.

They actually modernized the game UI. And the remastered graphics do look fitting.

I remember playing C&C and Red Alert on the first playstation. Great memories. This was my first preorder, and I'm not disappointed. I played the hell out of Red Alert as a kid. I also love that they brought skirmish mode to the original.
