Hey everyone,

I"m posting this question here because this is one of the last bastions of c&c modding.

I have generals and zero hour on origins, which is the only way I can get it to play on windows 7. I've re-downloaded VGO mod. It installs and when I go to press play an error message appears saying Missing required file"ssleay32.dll".

Now I've uninstalled, deleted the documents and program folders, then reinstalled and attempted again. Three times. I get the exact same result.

I've also re-downloaded the mod a few times just in case I had an incomplete download.

Any suggestions or solutions?

haven't played VGO in a while, does it use a launcher? If so try activating the mod manually, and playing it without the launcher.

If you're not sure how to do it, post a screenshot of your ZH folder, and we'll guide you from there.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply.

The mod does have a launcher and I don't know how to launch the mod without the launcher. There should be 3 images attached all labeled appropriately.

Thanks

Before we begin, I just want to let you know, that I don't have Win 10 (on my PC anyway), nor the Origin version, I'm speaking purely from my Win7 + normal CD version of ZH's point of view, so your detailed feedback is gonna be important on this, as I'm essentially flying blind.

1. Uninstall the mod, we have to start from a clean ZH folder
2. If you haven't already, download and install Bibber's Fixed Ultimate Edition Launchers
3. Make a copy of your ZH folder, and rename it to "VGO" or whatever you like. We shall hence forth refer to this folder as your "main VGO folder"
4. Install the mod to that folder
5. In the "Mod Files" folder, take all the .vgo files, change their extensions to .big, and move them to the main VGO folder
6. Move the "Install_Final" from "Mod Files" to the main VGO folder, and overwrite the existing one
7. Pick one of the .shell files, change the extension to .big, then move it in the main VGO folder
8. Move the "Batik" font file to the main VGO folder
9. Move "intro_movie.bik" to the "Data>Movies" folder in your main VGO folder. If the folder doesn't exist create it
10. Move "MultiplayerScripts.scb" and "SkirmishScripts.scb" to the "Data>Scripts" folder in your main VGO folder. If the folder doesn't exist create it
11. Double click on the Generals application in your main VGO folder to play. You can make a shortcut to it on your desktop to make things easier

And that should do it, reply back if it doesn't work

That worked spectacularly. Thank you very much.

With what I feel to be a lack of original rts titles being released I really enjoy coming back to the quality mods. That far surpassed generals and I would argue anything on the market today. Like VGO, CWC, Rise of the Reds, Shockwave etc.

After installing VGO myself, I found a possible problem with bypassing the launcher. There seems to be a newer version of VGO (v2.1) available only through the launcher via automatic update, or at the very least I can't seem to find any manual links to it anywhere. If it's something that bothers you, you should try contacting the mod developers and asking for their help.

Without any advertisement nearly 45,000,000 people have viewed Zero Hour's moddb page and counting. There is clearly a hungry audience for a mature RTS with modern graphics, and until one arrives a group of us have gathered on Discord and started playing Shockwave pretty regularly again.

Our group name is The Inner Circle.

Make sure you have a clean install

Convert all VGO main files into .bigs

Put em in your folder

Run world builder to see what kind of errors you get.
