The Kodiak, while originally resembles the T80-UM1 has enough elements now that it resembles it somewhat and a fictional tank. (Also at some point the Kodiak was going to get ARENA but never came to fruition until we placed it on the Sentinel; which actually worked out nicely to give it a support role.) For those that are wanting a more futuristic tank, we hinted at Aleksandr getting a much more modern and futuristic Main Battle Tank with Railgun upgrades! Well I can't wait for Aleksandr's Kodiak replacement (isn't it called the Ogre?) with Railguns (will the Golem get Railgun upgrades?) but it will be sad that those can't be combined with Sentinels come with 2.0 . |

Hmm, the Generals 2 Overlord also has dozerblades... But SWR's Sentinel is still better.

So far I thought it will simply be a Kodiak with a railgun.

(will the Golem get Railgun upgrades?) Yes. It too has received an overhaul and new abilities. As it is the Sentinel replacement for Aleksandr it needs to compensate. The Ogre Tank will also receive unique abilities the standard Kodiak does not. [...]it will be sad that those can't be combined with Sentinels come with 2.0 . Quite frankly I don't think it needs a railgun -------------------- SWR Co-Lead | Texture Artist | Modeler | Level Designer | Fan of all things Awesome |

Quite frankly I don't think it needs a railgun I meant that you can't combine Sentinels with Ogres, would be awesome... But thinking about it, I want Sentinels with railguns (unless the Golem will be more powerful to be more like the Sentinel) ! This post has been edited by dangerman1337: 8 Jul 2013, 16:45 |

A Sentinel with a railgun would one-shot everything short of another super-heavy. Seems a little excessive, really XD

Seems a little excessive, really XD So the Railgun upgrade will give a very good firepower increase to Aleksandr's tanks far more than the Chinese Depleted Uranium shells? I'm guessing it is going to be pricey or/and he won't get mass production to compensate. |

Actually, the exact effects of the railguns haven't been internally discussed yet (being a distant 2.0 thing and all...) but one would assume that it entails some sort of firepower increase, which would be quite ridiculous on something that's already as monstrous as a Sentinel.

After the presentation of our overhauled Buratino and Msta, it is time to present you two other iconic units of the Russian Federation that have been given a new appearance, complete with a more detailed model and sharper textures. View Kodiak with ERA The famous Russian Kodiak tank of today has only little left in common with the late Cold War era models it was originally based on. The stagnation of the Russian economy in the first two decades of the 21st century turned the implementation of the much touted Armata programme into a difficult endeavour, which is why President Suvorov decided to scale down the project and re-adapt some of its state-of-the-art technologies into the vast fleet of existing vehicles to save costs, for he preferred to improve the nation's crumbling infrastructure, industry, education and healthcare system during the early years of his reign. The result was the Kodiak tank, which sported an entirely new 125mm smoothbore cannon with advanced optics and stabilisation, a 1.300 HP gas turbine and a turret section that was controlled entirely from within the chassis. During the booming years of the Russian economy prior to the African debacle of 2041, the new Kodiak managed to be more economical while almost as capable as the tank that was originally meant to replace its predecessor, even though it was by now apparent that the old 80s era baseline no longer offered any room for improvement. General Aleksandr of the Advanced Weapons Research & Development Corps was therefore tasked to develop a new main battle tank for future mass production. View Sentinel with ERA View Sentinel with Warden Missile System View Sentinel with Arena Active Defense First shown to the public during the May 9 victory parade of 2026 amidst growing opposition against the incumbent President, the now famous Sentinel started out as the ugly duckling of the Russian Army which regarded the new tank as an overpriced, overengineered outgrowth of the Armata programme, armed with a dual 160mm cannon to rival the Chinese ZTZ200 Overlord on the export market. Due to its perceived incompatibility with the established Russian armour doctrine, the new tank was derisively designated as the HT-28, with the Cyrillic acronym HT standing for 'novyy tank' or 'novelty tank'. After the downfall of the corrupt regime in 2028, the Sentinel was redesigned from scratch but retained its original designation as a symbol of transition between the old and the new Russia. The HT-28M1 was equipped with a sturdy, heavily motorised chassis and its signature 220mm cannon, which turned the vehicle into a distinct mix between a tank destroyer and an assault gun. The M1 model was well received during its service in the Caucasus, Eastern Europe and Africa and became the baseline for all future modifications: The improved M2 variant which entered service just prior to the outbreak of the Russo-European War and the most recent M3 variant, which is the final production model of a unique prototype version that was field tested by the famous 'Black Bears' - the single most successful tank crew of the entire war - whose legacy lives on with this proud war machine. Most noticeably, the HT-28M3 sports a pair of bulldozer blades, an improved cannon and a more streamlined appearance. During the ECA's return to Russian-occupied Belgium in December 2048, the new Sentinel distinguished itself in the climactic battle of Liege, where an outnumbered contingent of Russians defended a vital salient against a combined force of the 1st Panzerdivision, the Royal Dragoon Guards and the 7e Brigade Blindée for eight days in a massive mechanised confrontation that was later dubbed 'the Belgian Prokhorovka'. Ever since then, the HT-28M3 forced the European and American troops to pay dearly for every step of their way towards Berlin, where General Aleksandr was preparing his troops for the mother of all battles. Like the backstories for both. I especially like the Sentinel's visual overhaul, looks more like something the Russians might actually build. |

It could just be a big compartment to store equipment or a large air conditioning unit. No doubt is a separate compartment for storing ammunition as Armata project should have. Nope, our own design utilizing some modern elements. I would say that the current tanks 'T' of Russia have also very modern elements, perhaps the more appropriate word is a tank too 'westernized'. -------------------- You already imagined how would be SAP in the ROTR's universe? Character itself won't change much, we've already done this for the Golem, Shocktrooper and Tesla tanks for the next version. They willl be similar but obviously stating lines pertaining to our universe.

HOT DAMN SWR! These tanks are some fine ass machines! I have to ask, but for Voice actors, what exactly are you looking for?
Also, Can the sentinel have a indirect fire ability, to make it really unique amongst other heavy tanks? The American Paladin can recieve buffs from drones, armor upgrades, and has the PDL to shoot down incoming missile standard, the Overlord can become faster, harder hitting, and mount a wide array of kit, the Jagdmammut can have increase gun range, and either get a speed or armor boost, and the Manticore is the Manticore. But since the Sentinel uses a 220mm assault cannon, why not give it the option to either act as short range artillery with large HE shells, or do normal tank combat roles with HESH rounds? I think it could work like the nuke cannon being able to switch between nuclear and EMP shells, but instead of just firing new shells, it could also change the way it fights. But I am liking the new Russian arsenal! |
