Unfortunately, my 4 years old laptop is too weak for this, but maybe someone would like to pick up this idea? smile.gif

What exactly do you mean by a background vid?
A video of the shellmap?

Posted by: The_Hunter 23 Jun 2009, 1:27

i'm fairly certain he means the shellmap.

Posted by: Shock 23 Jun 2009, 1:29

There is one of the ROTR shellmap on youtube so I would guess so.

That's easy enough to get... FRAPS + Shw = Shellmap

Posted by: accomplice 23 Jun 2009, 2:03

Yep mean the shell map. But my comp can only fraps it in a really lousy and slow manner, maybe someone with some up to date hardware would like to do this?

I just might do this for ya wink.gif

Maybe I'll wait for my new vid card for extra eye candy (already ordered should be here by end of this week). Stuff like this needs to be properly done, not with a half-assed graphic setting D:

edit; I tried it, and I can't seem to record it properly @ 1600x1200. Ingame it looks fine even with fraps enabled, but when I watch the vid in WMP or any other program the video is real slow, 8-10 fps :/

I will give it a try on the new vid card as well. I mean its watchable and plays smooth, but its only half the real speed it was recorded at (20-25fps), and I don't understand why:/

After you record the video with FRAPS. You need to convert it to AVI.

It's Youtube for goodness sake, 1080x720 is more than good enough for that site.

You can easily adjust the frame rate of the movie using any competent video editing program(though it's not perfect, esecially if the frame rate varies erratically).

I wanted it to be HD... and 2nd, I know how to adjust frame rates, and that is what it gets me. Its playing @ 30 fps, it was recorded @ 60 fps, and the FPS never dropped below 40 while recording, but the playback is at around 8-10 fps.

But I have my new Vid Card now so, I'm giving it another go happy.gif.

Upload to Youtube or put it into Windows Movie maker... easily solves it
