Great update I'm glad that the Second Robot Wars update is finally here!

While I may agree that we ought to at least chat on a hamachi channel every so often to at least talk for a change, I honestly never thought it to be a necessity considering we have an open forum for these suggestions on balance. It's why we have a replay thread, a generic chat. Have a issue? Then pull it up in a comprehensive thread where we can see if people agree with it as opposed to a nonconstructive, uninformed and unconfirmed post. We already receive hundreds of comments that we have to filter out and there's only a few of us to take it all in and consider it all. We also have beta testers that constantly play and give us this feedback. We won't just take everything we see up for granted, if there's a legitimate claim then show us some replays as well and or proper feedback from multiple sources. Well, it has been like this for a long time now (Ever since the questions thread died off actually). Having Q&A Sessions would be nice, as there are a lot of things announced that seem like they would be scrapped in the next two updates. As for the people complaining: It is true that things are different in PvP. However, the way the majority of you are arguing is unacceptable. The developers do this in their spare time. While "free" is not an excuse for a bad game, and neither is "beta", both of those should be considered for minor balance issues, since even high-end developers have trouble with them. However, I do have to say that the new mechanics seem complex and may not actually be used, but we will see when the time comes. To the devs/testers: I recommend making an extensive video overview going over the new mechanics, since this is probably the most comprehensive update to the game since the SWR overhaul a couple years ago, considering the major changes to the factions. |

But how it actually attacks ? I mean it says that it is fast,but again bikes are also fast but that doesn't stop most of tanks to destroy them in one take,and ATD have to come to minimal range to attack them.Are they resistant to tank attacks in way as infantry is, or we should just make them in considerable numbers so that tanks wouldn't stand any chance ? It would probably act more or less like the soviet terror drone, a spammable anti tank melee drone. -------------------- |

Wow, I certainly wasn't expecting to wake up to this shitstorm when I went off to bed last night. Here's a hint for the abrasive Humvee enthusiast: Faction design is about more than creating a tiny handful of units that always suceed due to sheer utilitarianism; it's about offering different tools and approaches for people to experiment and surprise each other with. As such, there really isn't a 'wrong' way to play a faction, only ways that are more or less effective than others. But alas, you do sound like one of those 'play to win' types who can't appreciate a game unless it has all the edges polished off that actually make it fun.
Just to clear things up again: The ATD is planned to be a fast, small drone that essentially uses a melee attack against tanks. It does not disappear 'into' the tank like an RA2 Terror Drone and can still be attacked while doing its thing. However, it will likely be uncrushable and use an armour type that makes it more resistant to most tank attacks. Think of it as an abstraction within the limits of the engine. In a realistic scenario, the drone would probably zig-zig rush towards the tank to avoid getting hit and then jump on top of it and go to town. Since we cannot depict that in-game, we have to make it an uncrushable melee unit that is capable of blocking a tank in place when used as a swarm. The ATD should be especially useful in conjunction with a Termite drone; use the microwave pulse to stun the tanks and fry their infantry escort, then send in the ATDs to rip them to shreds. |

Didn't expect such a thing to happen. I see nothing here is useless. They are and can support the basic units we have now. The AT drone is a very interesting approach. Since it is resistant to tankshell and is uncrushable, we can use large mobs of drones as shields to annoy the heck out of those Super-heavies while the Termite can kill infantry and shut said tanks down, then send in Paladins and Crusaders to finished the job. The Mule combined with Ambulance will also make the troops last longer and is more useful. So reassuming on the termite: -it hovers -must deploy to fire -the deployment is not reversable. -when enemy come close it fires a emp pulse that kills every infantry and stops every vehicles -the effect of the emp pulse is shorter than the time required for the drone to rearm -presumably during the recharge time the drone is unstealthed and vulnerable now...one of the biggest problem with mines is the ratio trigger area\explosion area: how is it in termite mine? small\large? everage\everage? large\large (problematic)? Image a line of these beauty with a group of Air force general stealth commanches, can be considered a good stealth defence combination? I've also seen the shitstorm passed a while ago,I want to just point out how much i care in that regard. nothing at all, i'm part of the group in this community that enjoy play ROTR trying new tactics and that follow the rule "Fun > victory or annoying kiting humvees", so keep it up bringing new and fresh content!! |

Well... Personally, I have no problem recognizing those with the Carl Gustav since they already have the big recoiless rifle on their back (or on their shoulders). Moreover, they have distinctive berets if I'm not wrong.
And... Come to think of it. If those Mule drones explode violently (since I haven't got any answer yet... Maybe they are still thinking about it), I presume we'll see lots of flying pieces of flesh since infantry otfen stay close to them. It would be fun. -------------------- |
