The Marksman is the newest modernisation of the venerable Westland Lynx, a multi-purpose helicopter of British design that serves in a variety of different roles in many European militaries, including the armed forces of Portugal, Denmark and Norway. The European Continental Army makes prominent use of it as a forward air controller and artillery observer. Its advanced sensor suite allows the Marksman to track down concealed enemies and its precision target designator allows friendly units to bring the full weight of their firepower to bear on anyone unfortunate enough to be marked by the beam. In addition, most Marksmen operate in constant coordination with the nearest European artillery detachment, allowing them to place a target marker on a structure which can then be bombarded by all available howitzers for a short period of time. Despite not having any weaponry of its own, a lone Marksman snooping around the base perimeter should never be dismissed as a non-threat, for its appearance may very well be the only warning prior to a devastating rain of shells. The Cheetah is the armed version of the lightweight Eurocopter model EC640. Upon deployment, it will automatically patrol the surroundings of the Region Command and engage ground targets of opportunity with its rocket launchers. Be advised however that the Region Command can only deploy one type of helicopter at a time, so you will have to choose between early radar access or better protection from early game rushes. Until then, you can also check up on last week's first episode here: |

All I keep thinking is Victor target.
Oh, that would be glorious. And that Cheetah looks nice, how much damage does it do? -------------------- Composite Armor has been installed, sir.

Right. It allows you to create a localised protection for your base quicker than with any other faction but if you choose to do that, you'll have to tech up, build an additional Field Command and deploy the regular radar helicopter from it to access your minimap, so it's a choice between early protection and map awareness.

I like it. A good gambit for an ECA player to choose between hard turtling and having radar. And the Marksman FAC sounds like good fun. Hope it doesn't have the same detection range as the mobile sensor array!

And that Cheetah looks nice, how much damage does it do? Enough to kill 2 technicals and the guys who might be inside them. -------------------- |

The Cheetah takes away a severe vulnerability with the ECA, so that faction might see more use in the future.

Is it possible to change your radar helicopter into a defense helicopter and the other way around, when they are deployed?
Or do you have to wait until it gets shot down? -------------------- |

But can the Lynx carry troops like in real life? The ECA needs a transport chopper bad!

There are plans to give one ECA General an air transport in 2.0, but it'll be a different unit entirely since merging too many functions in one unit easily makes it messy, not to mention that aerial transport is so big a deal that people would be using Marksmen for nothing else at that point.
