You are now reading the update's greeting title

Now, you're reading the greeting body. Inside it is an apology for posting this update a bit late. You are reading this sentence hoping to find en explanation for why I'm writing this greeting in this manner, but you don't find anything. This sentence is here to give the body more volume. Now you're just reading to find more jokes in this greeting. Nope, this is not a joke. This isn't a joke either. This is a random group of words. Finally you give up and look down to the renders.

WEA Guard Tower

Once the WEA Mechanized Assault Division was formed, they needed fast buildable defenses that suited their more aggressive style and allowed them to deploy troops faster. One such defense is the Guard Tower. Its simple shape and design make it easy to be deployed and it’s additional module options offer an even greater versatility.

The guard tower can garrison up to 3 infantry and be equipped with one of the modules: Medical module, Perimeter Defense module and Recon module. The Perimeter Defense module deploys an EMP mine field and a attack drone, while the Recon module drastically increases line of sight and makes the tower stealthed.

WEA Artemis

Keeping the borders safe was not an easy job for WEA army forces. They needed a powerful sensor system that could keep a watchful eye over large areas. The Artemis project was the result of this needs. A large sensor system that can detect any target no matter what stealth or camouflage system it used at very large distances. However the Artemis usefulness doesn’t stop here. To further improve it, WEA engineers along with Cynopolies specialists managed to modify it so it could equip different modules to suit the area they were built in. The Artemis can equip either a anti-missile defense system, a nano-field generator or a stealth field/EMP mine generator. Each one of this 3 offer additional defensive options to suit the situation.

WEA Ares

As the vanguard of the WEA continental army, Mechanized Assault corps needed a heavy assault tank to support their different transports and support vehicles. The project was dubbed – Ares – after the Greek god of War. The requirements were simple – a heavily armored and armed tank capable of mounting additional support gear depending on the needs of the moment. German and British engineers along with consultants from both Z-Tech and Cynopolis Corporations worked for over 2 years on this project, until the first experimental was ready. Preliminary tests were acceptable and after a few fixes, the Ares entered the battlefield in a blaze of glory.

Equipped with a quad photon cannon weapon system capable of raining plasma warheads at a relatively high speed and capable of equipping either a small nano-field generator to repair nearby vehicles or a photon based anti-missile defense system, the Ares proved to be the ultimate weapon for the MA Corps giving them a powerful support for their infantry and armored transports.

*This unit is unique to the Mechanized Assault Division*

Ares with PDL Module
Ares with Nano Repair Module

Very nice update, Zeke! I have some questions:

1: When all WEA stuff is done, will you release a version with only them or will you wait for another faction to be complete?
2: When it is released, will it have a launcher so we can play it with SWR mods?
3: The WEA will have another command bar for defenses on the dozer, like the ECA dozer?
4: That is the God Emperor, right? I hope you will use more GenX models in this mod, they are friggin' beautiful!

How you would keep the upgrade slots limit with these upgrades??

Or do you use tricks???

Nice renders & well made models, though i dislike the Ares a bit, its still a bit too much reminscient of the old Overlord variant of Gen-X.

The WEA seems to have the following theme weapons:
1. Photon
2. Plasma
3. Nano
4. EMP

Will the AC still get also an unique, unrelated plasma weapon, having that in EC's Arbiter tank, or to better say:
Will there be one or more "one of a kind" weapons for selected units (&only for these ones)??

We use the re-use the same upgrades over and over instead of making new ones trick.

I assume you mean something like "since WEA is using plasma, will other factions use plasma too?" Well plasma is actually an exclusive AC thing. Even though some WEA solar weapons look (and sometimes act) like plasma weapons, they are still under the category of "solar weapons" not plasma weapons, and no, there will be no exclusive tech sharing like how EA gave EMP to both China and SupW General.

Great update Zeke, will we see some AC renders in the near future or will those be shown only when the WEA is done?

EDIT: Also will the Units shown in EC updates still be used in Deep Impact?

The first alpha release will only have WEA and ADF. So updates will only be for this 2 factions.
Yes there will be plenty of stuff from old EC returning. Ofc with edits to match the new style and with different roles.

Those defenses sure cover a WIDE amount of roles. Interesting designs. Goes without saying that the Ares tank looks like a beast! Should be awesome.

BTW what will be the difference between photon and plasma weapons (in-game)?

IIRC Plasma weapons will basically be generic green glowy splody things, while photon weapons is a whole category of weapons from continous beams type weapons to something like china napalm weapons on steroids. What ties them all together is that they are all manufactured from energy generated by the WEA Solar Furnaces.

The 'solar' weapons used by WEA are basically an exotic form of plasma for lack of a better - lets invent terms out of science to make up for waky stuff. There will be a difference between the 'solar' plasma and the AC one. As for the green color - plasma can come in any color based on the gas used to create it just like laser. Green happens to be a color both me and Zeke enjoy for plasma stuff.

And there wont be a zombie faction.

Green is also one of the colors most associated with plasma (like how red is associated with lasers). In most sci-fi games plasma is usually cyan or green, and since we're planning to use cyan for something else, we chose green for the USA plasma weapons in GenX and eventually for the AC as well.

Wait, so the AC's primary color is Green?

But isn't there a Green faction (The GLA replacement, which I think was referenced a few times) already?

Don't get me wrong, I like green plasma as much as the next guy the green stuff was mostly just a bad joke. But isn't Green generally considered to be "Radiation"?

My preconceptions mostly being

Laser

Microwave
Solar

Radiation

Eletricity
Plasma
Dark Matter-y stuff

On a more relevant note, Great work making multiple "Multi-barrle heavy tank" type units that all look unique!

Now, until the next obvious as shit answer - here's something to reflect on - water ain't a weapon but you have water cannons, gas ain't a weapon, but it's used as both a 'projectile' and a catalyst for different weapon systems and solid - well pretty much every fken projectile is solid. Thank you for the physics lesson - but that's not exactly quantum entanglement level of information.

^Right, I forgot that a plasma weapon is any theoretical firearm designed to use plasma (high-energy ionized gas) as a weapon. The plasma is typically intended to be created by superheating lasers or superfrequency devices. Such weapons can be intended to be lethal, causing death by serious burns or the melting of targets, or non-lethal and intended to disrupt electronics using an electromagnetic pulse. While no practical example of such weaponry has been produced, corporations such as Boeing have funded research and development into the technology

Sorry if I am pissing you off.

I'm curious to know, what exactly were you trying to accomplish with this statement?

I'm pretty sure you've played other sci-fi themed games before, so saying something like this doesn't make much sense to me.

^I am trying to inform people that plasma is not meant to be a weapon, although in my previous post I elaborated on that. In the realm what I think Deep Impact is pseudo-science-fiction (blend between real world and sci-fi) there are other cheaper and better alternatives to plasma weapons.

...or do I owe you an apology?

You don't owe anyone any apology. You do however owe yourself the option to stop playn then smartass card. We're not fken retards. We know what plasma is, and how it's produced and pretty much everything about it - so stop acting like a wiki page on a religious forum. Plasma has always been used as a weapon system in sci-fi themed games and since both me and Zeke love green plasma we will add it. I've already explained how something that isn't a weapon on itself can be used as a weapon in my other post. This discussion has absolutely no point and is going nowhere. Nothing is a weapon on it's own, but with the right tools/conditions it becomes one.

Well i must coincide with Anubis here, NL Studios is not the RA3 Paradox team, they can decide what they want for their mod. Besides, green plasma is there also in Fallout, XCOM and even Tiberian Sun, not to mention others, with some exception like WH40K (where btw, Plasma AND Melta weapons are both plasma based) Plasma is blue colored (seen by the Tau and plasma weapons).

Oh and one thing i forgot to mention: With single unit weapons i mean that would be there units with an exclusive weapon type, meaning only that unit in the entire mod had that weapon type? Like in EC where the Arbiter was the only (confirmed) AC unit which uses plasma cannons because no other unit was capable of carrying it. tongue.gif

There will be some, especially units imported from our other mods that had abilities that we're outside what we had planned for DI, like the USA juggernaut and it's nano armor.

Fire is not even a Weapon, it is an exothermic Chemical reaction that absorbs oxygen.

OH WAIT WE USE IT TO MURDER THINGS.

Plasma is a superheated gas in most cases.

Thus it can murder things.

Thus it is a weapon.

Your move.

EDIT: If it exists, someone will weaponize it. Plasma weapons already are on the drawing board.

It isn't classified as a weapon, but that doesn't mean people can't use it as one.
