Hello ShockWave fans,
It's full steam ahead now as we edge closer to the release of the new version. To ease the time between waiting, today we are take the wraps off of one of the new units and and an upgrade that we are sure you're going to have a blast - or dare I say many blasts? - with.
Time to put on your lead underwear. Fresh off the production line and first up is the new Tactical Nuclear Missile upgrade for General Tao's Overlord.
This upgrade was developed in response to a case our Balance Team put forward regarding the lack of customisation for Tao's Overlord. The Tactical Nuclear Missile upgrade will equip the Nuclear Overlord with a sensor array and two large missile hatches on its back. This new M.A.D. weapon will allow the Overlord to spread deadly levels of radiation across considerable distances, while the array will assist the Overlord in the detection of hidden enemies.

Next up is the GLA Demo General's long-awaited Toxin Tractor replacement, the Camel shrapnel launcher. Paradoxically named, this new unit is not as innocuous as its name suggests, and is not one to be mocked or trifled with. Like its predecessor the Camel will have a specialised role in the General's arsenal. Field tests show the unit to be competent at dispatching infantry out in the open and in garrisons with relatively no resistance.

Holy... that's new upgrade for Nuke overlord and I hopefully balance will be well.
I like new Camel unit and nice replace it. Something remind me, it's kind of similar for WWII Axis SdKfz 251 Half-track.

The nuke ovie reminds me of the Project Raptor nuke ovie, wich is a good thing as i really enjoyed that one. But is it just me or this ovie model did not recived the same lovin as the RotR one ( the turret details are not there, the treads side covers are not there ..etc ). The Shrapnel Laucher ... not a big fan of it. Someone in this mod must have a real obsesion for half trucks, cause a big % of the new stuff is a half truck chassie. To me, it's a verry old and verry non esthetic design. Either than that, i'm really curios how those grenades or what ever they are will be lauched.

I was wondering when the Demo General would have his Toxin Tractor replaced, and the Camel fits the bill quite nicely. I wonder how well it fares in infantry dispatching as opposed to a Toxin Tractor.
About the camel (since there isn't a question thread anymore):
-what does it fire?
-can we expect it to have a special ability since we see 6 bombs on its chassis?
-i'd also like to ask what this possible special ability could be, but i'm expecting a "wait and see"answer from this question.
-Is it inspired by some kind of WWII vehicle/half truck as someone pointed out, and if yes, wich one?
(i'm a lore fan, so i can't wait to modify the wiki with real life counterpart statement.)

The Nuke addon is not a joke.
The original nuke missile addon was made by Coolfile in his mod called "Covert Ops" and when he stoped working on his mod all content was released for public use so nobody is beeing ripped off.
I can only say to this: nuclear winter ahead. I like this update, and now General Tao's Overlords become useful again.
The Mini-Nukes on the Overlord or a much more suited weapon to Tao's arsenal.
And I'd always thought the Toxin tractor was a little out of place in the Demo Gens aresenal.

So these tactical missiles will fire at air? Coz that was the problem, it wasnt the lack of customization, it was the lack of it having any anti-air for tao's ovvies.
Finally we see the toxin tractor replacement for juhziz It looks gd over all, tho imo the roof could use some more details.
The ovvies look OTT but in a great way, looking forward to seeing the animations in-game for it. Tho the texture around the missiles looks so out of place.

Other than that, this is certainly impressive, and it's great (and unexpected) to see the 'Camel' concept come to life. It's the perfect solution for a tricky unit and I can't wait to play with it. Hopefully not one but two updates will finally scare off the 'is this dead?!' questions.
I see the Camel is a Hanomag Sd.Kfz. 251 inspired vehicle with armed with the 6 distinctive rocket launchers.
Oddly though, the vehicle chassis itself bears little or no resemblance to the real vehicle.
If the Overlord's Missiles can target air, that thing is pretty much unbeatable D:

Why does the Camel halftruck seem to be carrying a truckload of sand? I love the update, except for that bit. I think the top texture could be improved.
Maybe the Camel has a tarpaulin on its back hiding stuff?
The only thing I don't like about this update is that the Overlord still has a 4-sided barrel.

That is a Sdfkz 251 with the 6 Wufranmen 40 300mm rockets. Used in real life and featured in Company OF Heroes. Always glad to see another WW2 vehicile!

No reason to worry about balance guys, the balance team does a good job at that.
I dunno it's one of my pet peeves that 72 virgin thing.
If I remember correctly there was no upgrade slots left. Does this mean we're losing a current upgrade, since was mentioned that the gattling turrets are getting their stealth detection back, will we losing the radar upgrade?
I like the Camel and the idea behind Tao's upgrade, but the model looks somewhat ridiculous. I know it's nonsense to complain about practicality in Shockwave, but the thing looks like it would tilt onto its back. It's, like, really huge in the back, with missiles, towers, dishes, radar, turrets, etc, and skinny in the front.
Anyway, model detail is a minimal part of the game, but as someone else said, it looks more like a "crazy" mod model than a Shockwave model.

I had never the opportunity to utilize it a single time even against stealth general,the backup radar that provided in case of HQ destroyed was an intelligent addition but gamplay wise with very little application IMO (it still needed power IIRC), the big radar mounted on top was also quite strange and cartoonish.
For me is already forgotten.

The only question now if the Kwai overlord will remain with just a single add-on or will get a new exiting upgrade, i'm waiting a wait and see answer but a yes or no qould be very appreciated.
I don't have my mod of SW on hand but yes there are a number of ways that upgrade slots can be reduced. I know that there is a redundant Scorpion Rocket upgrade for Thrax. I also combined the Drone weapons upgrades, the ravage and reactive armor upgrades, and the autoloader upgrades. The rest of my fixes involved changing units, ie the laser humvee starts with a laser and gets a laser guided tow upgrade. The only one that I've mention though that confused me was Thrax's scorpion rocket, since it cost the same, used the same cameo and didn't effect any ingame aspects. I assume the team knew about it though.
Also will the radars function as a spare radar now be moved to the Listening Outpost? Or do we lose it all together, having said that I never even knew about it till just now.
If you want radar you're going to have to purchase it at the China Command Center. You won't be able to get it anywhere else, and that includes the Listening Outpost. The GLA are the radar vehicle faction.

seriously speaking, for me CnC Generals:Zero Hour was the Best game EVER... and it got even better when i downloaded this mod... i mean i didnt think that it could improve so much!
