This is my first model and skin. The model is pretty much done, but the skin needs a lot of work. I'm posting this here because I'd like to get some suggestions, comments and criticism before I continue. Once I have that set, I can add all the w3d trinkets and try to get it working ingame.

Here is what I have so far. (688 polygons)

Here are what I used as source material. I initially attempted something more similar to the original tower, but in the end decided to base it much more heavily on the render.

All the frames of the original game image.

An old render whose source is unknown.

The Advanced guard tower has always been one of my favorite looking defenses, its original image is an abstract jumble that is hard to make much sense out of. When making my tower, I wanted it to be uneven, but balanced, with no side really being just a plain wall.

My personal ingame vision for the tower is different than what the original tower was. While in the original CnC95 the pair of missiles were awesome, in zero hour damn near everything has missiles taped to it. Plus, I want it to live up to the "advanced" part of the name. I see the tower as more of a support defense with the blue/green panels as phased array radar or emp panels or other such technomagic, but I will leave the exact details to whoever adds it to their game. The basic tower will have a few fireports (I could see it holding 1-2 infantry) and a decent sight and detection radius. It's main weapon could be that it would provide attack bonuses like an avenger while radio jamming the unit that is being targeted. Longer ranged drones are also a possibility.

I also intend to have the large antenna (along with the attached pipe and block) as a hidden part of the model that is revealed with an upgrade. (if any of you happen to know of a tutorial to do this, I'd love to know it). Basically what I want to attempt to make this do is let it reveal a very small radius around an enemy unit within a very large radius (a little bit bigger than whatever the longest arty range is) , but not actually reveal anything else within the large radius. Basically an early warning system (but one that could still be foiled by a clever adversary). Not sure if it's possible yet.

Welcome to the forums
First post and directly a nice one XD

I like your first model. smile.gif
I like suggest to place the radar on the top.
This would look more logical and you could make the dish turn.
