I've found few rts games in alpha / beta stage that are similiar to C&C Generals, some of them have some new features

Those looks pretty good so far. I hope they don't end up like Rouge Republic.
Rogue Republic is dead? any official info? i forgot about it
The buildings remind me of a promising RA3 mod that sadly died rather quickly. I'll be sure to observe this, especially for the DoW-style recolouring of units.
There's a game being developed by Sarge Rho. It's called http://www.indiedb.com/games/ardent-seas
No comment about the first two but... Reconquest... argh why do modern RTS games always suffer from the silly ultra cartoony look and overly bright colours? It's not nice to see, it's horrible. Plus, after reading the plot behind the game you'd think the game would be all gritty and dark, especially if there was a WW3 but instead... everything looks bright and one could think such a conflict where mankind was nearly wiped out never happened...
Agreed. I would actually like a strategy game in a post-WW3 setting, with successor factions of the former powers fighting it out over basic resources for survival and regaining some sort of control. Reconquest however looks like the most generic, fictionalised take on this, with two factions that seem to be based around technological urbanite survivors vs anarchist rabble from the wasteland of Mad Max. It also looks too much like Tiberian Twilight, with a miscalculated emphasis on desert environments and vehicle designs that look too stylised and videogamey for my liking. I'd much rather see a more speculatively realistic take on this, like Central Europe battered by a confrontation between NATO and Russia, with the entire continent essentially reduced to feudalism and a strange mix of leftover modern weaponry and neo-medieval elements due to the massive loss of industry and technology, with factions designed after fractured nation-states, rogue military forces and various political groupings that formed to fill the power vacuum.
War Zone Middle East looks to be more rooted in reality, but seems even less appealing, mainly because I am tired of present day/next Sunday Middle Eastern settings with generic military hardware and boooring desert environments. The only pure Middle Eastern setting for an RTS in my opinion was the Mideast Conflict 2 mod, which struck a good balance between real hardware and fictionalisation. This one on the other hand looks and sounds bland in every way, and the footage really doesn't do it any favours either. It still looks too unpolished even for a WIP demonstration and if it's actually meant to be near final, then it's just plain unpresentable in this state.
Global Conflagration on the other hand looks quite neat, though I am confused about the development history. Wasn't there some Generals mod that first sought to add a futuristic Ukraine and Europe, then it became Rogue Republic as a standalone game and then what? I'm asking because GC kinda resembles the EU designs of RR (light blues with orange markings). Problem is, their PR seems a bit lacking. I would like to see a concise explanation of what this is supposed to be, i.e. what kind of RTS style, what the setting is, why there's a conflict and what overall features are to be expected. Right now, it seems promising but the way they present their new content is too much like you'd do for a mod, not a standalone game that actually needs to properly establish what it is. I do absolutely love that colouring feature however. It reminds me of how you could choose different premade camo patterns for your battlegroup in Endwar and I wish more RTS would embrace such possibilities. In this day, I find customisable factions (in terms of cosmetics and gameplay) to be more interesting that a more conventional 'factions with selectable subfactions' model. Either way, Global Conflagration is the one I want to keep eyes on.
Here is one RTS I am also looking forward to. http://iron-harvest.com/
