SWR Productions Forum _ Rise of the Reds _ Marakar's ROTR Madness

Posted by: Marakar 17 Dec 2016, 22:54

Hey there,

Just wanted to point out that I stream ROTR, and decided to create this thread to update the forums whenever a stream is going on. Generally I'll stream whenever I feel like it or I might update this thread ahead of time on whether theres a stream coming up or not. Generally i'll be playing but i'm also fine with observing games featuring commentary from me. Might have either co-commentators or just have a chill stream with friends in a Skype Call, so it isn't super serious try hard streams only.

Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCT156NmNhMPW0EXbkKvv7Mg

Also have a YouTube Channel where i'll occasionally upload videos (generally ROTR-related) whether its a cast, guide, or stream, so feel free to check that out as well for more ROTR content.

Will update the thread whenever a stream is coming up smile.gif

If you ever want to learn how to get good at rotr, watch these streams and copy how Mara plays.

Posted by: Purple 18 Dec 2016, 0:26

Am I bugging or is there nothing ROTR related on that channel?

Had a ROTR Stream with friends in a Skype Call. The stream started out rough then it gets a bit interesting in the Skype Call, though enjoy the ROTR Gameplay smile.gif

Very interesting games from stream. BTW this is not the first time when I see GenTool with widescreen and normal camera view. How did you make camera height like you play with 4:3 monitor resolution? I mean when I set my resolution (which is 4:3 or 1024x768 for game default) to 16:9 my camera height becomes to low and it do not matter have I GenTool installed or not. But on your video I see very good field of view with widescreen resolution. How did you make this?

Wrong solution man. Increasing resolution do not fit the problem (I think you smart enough to understand that, but for some reason you do not do this).

Posted by: M.P 20 Dec 2016, 8:22

Just what he said, Buy a bigger monitor, I had the same problem but i no longer have this problem with my new monitor

Posted by: SoraZ 20 Dec 2016, 10:22

Bigger doesn't exactly mean physically bigger but "higher resolution". A 1024x768 resolution is quite ancient, I suggest getting something that allows more.

Posted by: Purple 20 Dec 2016, 13:38

What ever the case may be "spend lots of money" should always be the last possible advice you give people only after all other options have been exhausted.

Posted by: Zion 20 Dec 2016, 16:12

there are no low resolution monitors around anymore, and if u bought a 30 inch 800 x 600 monitor, u should just leave gaming for good.
I think everyone here is smart enough to understand resolution vs screen size. we don't need u guys posting shit loads of replies talking about it

if you are having issues, clearly you are the one that doesn't understand this concept

if your resolution is not listed in the default zh game settings, then you need gentool. Gentool allows you to have a larger list of resolution types, depending on what your monitor can handle.
or manually enter it in in the config file

Marakar is playing on a 1080p monitor.

The best monitors for zh/rotr are monitors that are more square
wide screen monitors display the game worst than a more square monitor.
so for example your field of view will be worst with a 1920 x 900 resolution
vs a resolution of 1920 x 1200 due to camera height adjustment (camera height adjusts to make the game more square)

a 1080p monitor is superior to a 1024x768 monitor because of pixel count
although pixel count does not affect the camera height of the game, (because the game adjusts it whether you have a 1k monitor or a 4k) a modern pixel count will increase your field of view, meaning you can see more of the battlefield.
this does not mean that a 4k monitor has an advantage, because it increases the field of view slightly, and the camera height gets adjusted accordingly
but if we are comparing 1024 x 768 to a 1920 x 1080, the resolution is significantly larger therefore the player with a 1920 monitor will see more.

They only reason this game will display too close to the ground is the following:
you are running a different monitor resolution, than the native res of the monitor, or you monitor is too wide, forcing the game to zoom in super close.

Thx for reply. But I found way how to fix that. I simply run game in window mode several times with resolution that differ from the game (1360x750). Then I change it to 1366x768. Then I back to fullscreen mode. And magic. My camera in fullscreen now have same height like it was with 4:3 resolution. Same height with increased FOV.
I think it was Gentool bug when Gentool set my camera like in ZH but now is ok.

I have heard about Gentools many a times. What does this tool exactly do apart from resizing the game resolution? Also, I tried to download it after searching for it on Google. And most of the versions of this tool on the internet is infected with a virus. I do not know if it is a false positive but I do realize that it was not worth the risk.

Posted by: XoGamer 8 Mar 2017, 7:56

Why Rise of the Arab? Are you an Arab or are you playing GLA?

Posted by: Marakar 8 Mar 2017, 8:16

Former, but you could say that I played GLA as my main, though US takes first main now (regardless its the former).

I get the the feeling that precise map scrolling with mouse is a crucial skill.

I tend to scroll across the map a lot, helps especially if you are full on your control groups or you just want to survey the map quick.

Anyways, after a long break from streams on my part simply due to real life and such, I'm finally gonna do another ROTR Stream this upcoming Friday on March, 10, 2017.

Time of the stream will be 18:00GMT, and countdown is here as always: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20170310T21&p0=8&msg=Rise+of+the+Reds+Stream+-+Marakar&font=cursive

Watch the stream on Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/choicescarfwynaut

Posted by: Marakar 11 Mar 2017, 10:06

3/10/2017

Team Games throughout the entire stream, we start off with a couple 3v3s, go into a 2v3, then transition into some intense 2v2s on a variety of maps, both traditional and custom maps.
