So yeah, I just stumbled across this link on a reputable German game website. While I'm not too sure about the source itself yet, this is certainly worth a discussion.
Stinger edit: Thread renamed to Command & Conquer 4 since this discussion is now focused on the new title. |

If that has some truth in it they better take their time.

If the game does come out according to what it is supposed to be like in the text i guess there will be alot of grave stones being made for CNC gamers as this will kill them most likely.

Usually, I'm all for innovation but the Crawler-concept seems to deviate waaay too much from the classic C&C formula. Changing essential game mechanics
like that can quickly result in alienation. It's a thin line and if it turns out that this will also be the conclusion to the series, they better do not fuck this up. |

I think this could be mad awesome. I'm usually all for new concepts in RTS games. The RPG elements were already touched upon in Generals and RA3.

It's a end to the series, whats going to "screw" it up? Not, it's not. It's an end to the Tiberium saga, NOT to the CnC series. Also, I like what I heared so far, as long as the mobile base is an option, not rule, I'm all for it. -------------------- |

I took a survey in which they included that description and I am looking forward to seeing what exactly they have in the works for this new Command and Conquer game

Generic ungrounded EA hate is cruise control for cool.
I'm all for RPG elements in RTS games. Units can already level up, so why not? -------------------- |

It would be kinda cool that instead of premade generals with certain special abilities and perks you as a player level up and choose the perks you get and truly make your own "general". However, there would be tiers of units that you can spend these ability points towards to unlock and there will be many to choose from.

Sounds interesting...the crawler concept could turn out either cool or realy bad. Seems EA plays for the high cards again. I hope they dont fail us again!

Eh, wasn't a big fan of CnC3, prolly would've cared about CnC4. However, this whole RPG element thing might be interesting, I've always been a fan of games that added RPG elements into it. (STALKER, Fallout 3, some others).

However they should stop claiming about uniqueness in their RPG elements. Games like Dawn of War II and Spellforce I & II have been doing it as well and probably more games.

The concept of EA ending a profitable series is laughable at best.
That being said, the idea of having a single super powerful unit as your base is a really great idea, like the Monolith from DoW but actually useful. This post has been edited by RaiDK: 23 Jun 2009, 14:03 -------------------- |

Thats what I meant. They could still do tiberium games only pre-ending or something like that, like they are still doing Halo games -------------------- |
