From the official page: "Sequel to critically-acclaimed XCOM: Enemy Unknown introduces a new world order where aliens rule Earth and XCOM must fight to save humanity Join the conversation on Twitter using the hashtag #XCOM2 New York, NY – June 1, 2015 – 2K and Firaxis Games today announced that XCOM® 2, the sequel to the Game of the Year* award-winning strategy title XCOM®: Enemy Unknown, is currently in development for Windows-based PC. Developed by Firaxis Games, XCOM 2 transports players 20 years into the future, where humanity lost the war against the alien threat that has established a new world order. The secret paramilitary organization known as XCOM is largely forgotten, and must strike back to reclaim control of Earth and free mankind from the aliens’ rule. XCOM 2 is currently scheduled for release in November 2015. The game will also be coming to Mac and Linux via Feral Interactive. In XCOM 2, the roles have been reversed, and XCOM is now the invading force. They are hampered by limited resources and must constantly evade the alien threat in their new mobile headquarters. Players must use a combination of firepower and stealth-like tactics to help XCOM recruit soldiers and build a resistance network, while attempting to expose the evil alien agenda and save humanity. XCOM 2 will introduce gameplay features such as procedurally-generated levels, which will make each experience unique to the player, as well as offer a much deeper level of modding support. Additionally, XCOM 2 will offer a variety of new content including five updated soldier classes, increased soldier customization, more alien and enemy types, evolved tactical combat and more. “Firaxis proved they could reimagine a beloved franchise with XCOM: Enemy Unknown, a Game of the Year award-winning title,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “With XCOM 2, the team is breathing new life into the series by adding an epic narrative and challenging players to overcome near impossible odds.” “The feedback from the passionate XCOM community played an important role in the development of XCOM 2, driving us to push the visual, gameplay and replayability boundaries of what a strategy game can be,” said Jake Solomon, creative director of XCOM 2 at Firaxis Games. “We’re thrilled to implement long-time fan requested features such as procedural levels and modding support, as well as adding more of what makes XCOM great like new aliens, enemies and soldier classes.” For more information about XCOM 2, visit IGN.com, where the game is featured as the IGN First title for the month of June. In the coming weeks, IGN will reveal exclusive details about XCOM 2, including gameplay impressions, in-depth analysis of alien and enemy types, new soldier classes and combat tactics, story-focused insights and more. XCOM 2 will be available for PC and is currently scheduled for release in November 2015. XCOM 2 is not yet rated by the ESRB. It does look really good.
The idea behind guerilla warfare and urban combat complements the already existing design for Xcom. The idea behind the Advent Government is quite interesting. Humans enhanced by alien tech enacting a sort of "Popular-control" seems interesting. There is also mention of "Gene-Care centres" or something along those lines, seem interesting. I have a feeling it is creating these new Hybrids such as the "Snake-man" and the "Steroid Sectoid" (I'll call it that for now). I love the flying base as it gives new meaning to the word Asymmetrical Warfare. Looking forward to it. -------------------- A place where I posted my idea about a possible take on the Post-Red Alert 2 Command and Conquer universe: Reimagining Post Red Alert 2

I must say even if the story is a miss (-ish) if we'd just lost a second war it would be better. I love where this is going.

So XCOM didn't get to invent laser weapons or power armor but they still confirmed the Volunteer (that had to be experimented on with technology much more advanced than lasers to unlock their psychic powers) is alive.
I smell parallel universe shenanigans. |

I like the updates so far,
The ranger looks like a makeshift ninja, that seems okay in my book.Especially with the combo strikes Specialist looks really meh, Im sorry but hacking is going to be Imba if everyone can do it anyways Why Impossible ironman is cannon? I feel tempted to win the game with only modern weapons and on Ironman Impossible mode now that they said this. HUMANITY WILL FIND ITS WAY Now for the viper, Im glad the aproach of what they went with it -Real form of the thin men? ehh no thanks...Thats just stupid -Has the same posion ability? Awsome -Has an ability to pull someone smoker style from L4D -Has the ability to grasp the target like the squid droids of Enemey within? Thats awsome too I hope we'll get a grappling hook kind of ability too.The new sectoid is lovely, bigger stronger and has the relative same abilities.Im guessing the zombie creating lil bug thing wont make a return as we're seeing the sectoid now able to ressurect dead civilans and xcom soldiers.Hopefully it'll be a link of sorts so we can kill the controller and watch the others drop Thanks for the shares blackranger -------------------- |

That's i'm certain Specialist looks really meh, Im sorry but hacking is going to be Imba if everyone can do it anyways I think the Specialist is balanced because it's main focus is support Why Impossible ironman is cannon? I feel tempted to win the game with only modern weapons and on Ironman Impossible mode now that they said this. HUMANITY WILL FIND ITS WAY I think that Firaxis is trying to deviate XCOM lore from the Original lore Now for the viper, Im glad the aproach of what they went with it -Real form of the thin men? ehh no thanks...Thats just stupid -Has the same posion ability? Awsome -Has an ability to pull someone smoker style from L4D -Has the ability to grasp the target like the squid droids of Enemey within? Thats awsome too - The Aliens had the need of the Viper as a infiltration unit not as a soldier in the first war since it's the aliens attacking - agree - yep - More like a Venomless snake, like the Boa Constrictor I hope we'll get a grappling hook kind of ability too. We shall see The new sectoid is lovely, bigger stronger and has the relative same abilities.Im guessing the zombie creating lil bug thing wont make a return as we're seeing the sectoid now able to ressurect dead civilans and xcom soldiers.Hopefully it'll be a link of sorts so we can kill the controller and watch the others drop I think they'll add it. We shall see Thanks for the shares Ranger Call me Ranger, and just wait. I'll be giving news until the next game comes -------------------- |

I am very much looking forward to this, especially what other enemy types we'll get to see. I hope they'll redesign the Chryssalid, for as iconic an enemy as they are, I wasn't that much of a fan of
their appearance in XCOM:EU. The possibility of facing technologically advanced human enemies in the form of government troops seems pretty cool as well, I liked that with the EXALT troops too. |

I think the Specialist is balanced because it's main focus is support I guess hacking in this case means using objectives, like plasma bombs and other devices that we met in the first game. Check how they say that only specialists will be able to hack robotics. I hope this includes sectopods. Also interesting that there are different levels to hacking skill. maybe supports will be important enough to have more than 1 in a team. |

Since the game passes 20 years in the future, maybe they will redesign the chryssalid also, Advent is the EXALT troops. so that's plausible I guess hacking in this case means using objectives, like plasma bombs and other devices that we met in the first game. I somewhat agree and that makes the Specialist a good balanced archetype -------------------- |

That seemed pretty scripted, but then again, you gotta show off the new features. I have a feeling that this'll be the new tutorial mission for some reason.
Also... THEY GOT MECS NOW. READY THE HEAT AND BRING THE SHREDDER. Or whatever equivalent they have in 20 years. |

READY THE HEAT AND BRING THE SHREDDER. Or whatever equivalent they have in 20 years. It was just scripted for E3, with the amount of features they have I doubt it will be that scripted. Even if it is slightly linear I still am loving the look. This should be a great game. I was happy to hear that there will be lots of Advent types and hell that Berserker looks great. The destructiveness of the environment is impressive and I can't weight to see firefights in destroyed streets, malls and out in the wilderness. Looks great. -------------------- A place where I posted my idea about a possible take on the Post-Red Alert 2 Command and Conquer universe: Reimagining Post Red Alert 2
