Hey,
I've just got a brand new Windows 7 laptop Unfortunately I can't seem to get ZH to run on it. Every time I run it I get the error about not having DX9.0 or needing to check the graphics card. I've looked up this error and the solution was apparently a reboot - no joy. I have installed DirectX (as far as I can tell, it was a web update SDK thing) but this doesn't help either. Things that you might need to know to help me out; -I have installed ZH to the default directory (C:\Program Files\CnC Gens or w/e) -I am using Windows 7 -My graphics card is 128mb dedicated (integrated) with correct drivers -ZH install has been patched to 1.04 -No mods installed. -------------------- |

You sure DX 9 is installed? You'll need 9, not the newer ones. It's a separate install I believe. A crappy graphic card can also cause these kinds of errors. My card ain't that good, so DX always crashes after I launcher some graphic memory intensive thing, giving a similar error. Since your card is worse, might be that.

I will look into getting DX9 as a separate package. My card is SiS Mirage 3 i think This post has been edited by Pickysaurus: 30 Oct 2009, 17:16 -------------------- |

Die you dat SIS mirage 3 as your video chip? In that case i have to disappoint you. That chip is hardly to not capable of playing 3d games. It probably does not comply with the requirements of zh. It is old and pretty bad they still sell those chips.

Did you install with administrator rights? I allowed both installations to have permission when the warning came up during the installation. Die you dat SIS mirage 3 as your video chip? In that case i have to disappoint you. That chip is hardly to not capable of playing 3d games. It probably does not comply with the requirements of zh. It is old and pretty bad they still sell those chips. Yes AFAIK it is a mirage 3 chip. It can't be that old :S The 128MB shared chip in my old laptop ran ZH just fine :S Plus this PC is brand new -------------------- |

128 mb graphic card with windows 7?!?! upgrade your card , DO IT NAO also up your power supply to like a 450 W or 400 and buy ati radeon 4350 HD *facepalm* You can't do this to a laptop without heavily voiding a warranty... 128Mb of integrated memory should run ZH but not nicely. When you install both programs(ZH and DX), make sure you install with admin privileges (right click the exe file). Also, make sure the .ini files supposed to be present in your My Documents folder are there else copy them from an older PC. Also, DX 11 is backwards compatible AFAIK. |

I'll try to reinstall as with right-click admin rights. I looked in to ZH My Documents folder and it only contained the ReleaseCrash files. Does this mean I have to copy the other information over? -------------------- |

It happened with me on Vista and when I got files from an install on XP on another desktop, it worked like a charm. Alternatively, if you create a gamedata.ini (i think thats the one) you should fix your problem.
