It happened with me on Vista and when I got files from an install on XP on another desktop, it worked like a charm. Alternatively, if you create a gamedata.ini (i think thats the one) you should fix your problem. So wait, are you saying Install Gens/ZH onto my Windows 7 PC. Then install onto another location (my old Vista laptop) Finally copy the installation from Vista to replace all the files? Also, according to the tool that comes with ZH the issue is that I am running an OS it doesn't like. (See screenie) Edit: The copy/paste method didn't work either This post has been edited by Pickysaurus: 31 Oct 2009, 0:11 -------------------- |

Ok, have you tried running any other games from a similar timeframe? Try that if you really want to see the SIS mirage 3 NOT do its work.
Im sorry but that chip is really just only meant for desktop work. Check it out at notebookcheck. -------------------- |

Considering I have a card that is three years older and half as powerful that can run ZH I'm pretty sure it isn't that.

Dont understand why you bought something like that always , the best you could possibly play is maplestory See this is the problem, the card wasn't named until I did the DXDIAG thing. It was just advertised as 128mb dedicated - which if it was half decent would do me fine ¬.¬ Considering I have a card that is three years older and half as powerful that can run ZH I'm pretty sure it isn't that. I thought this, my old PC is 2 years older and can do it. So I naturally assumed this one would do better. -------------------- |

Well, sometimes newer doesn't mean better. I know this as my old pc can run Fallout 3 (only just, with lag and stuff), but my new pc just let's the game crash, and I still dunno what causes it -.-"

SiS is not ATi or nVidia. The SiS chips are also most of the time not supported by the 3d games themselves. Knowing EA, they would never have put effort in supporting such a niche card.

If you can, try to get one with an ATi or nVidia brand video chip. Whatever budget thing it may be, it should always be capable of running Zero Hour.

Pay 20 pounds extra and save the hassle/frustration. I did just this I can now play ROTR/Shw/ZH One final problem. The game plays in the centre of the screen with black borders - I know this is because my laptop is widescreen, but so was my other one and the game filled it just fine. Any way to make it full screen? -------------------- |

Go to options.ini in your my documents/zero hour folder, see resolution and change it to the desired widescreen resolution. Beware to not edit anything in your in game options while running this. Also, zero hour cuts from the top and bottom rather than adding to the sides unfortunately.

My laptop automatically stretches zero hour, which I actually don't appreciate as I would rather play with the full screen and black borders than with a screen that leaves me devoid of the top and bottom parts.
What graphics chip is in your new laptop btw? -------------------- |

What graphics chip is in your new laptop btw? It's another crappy one, but at least it has 3D shaders... Intel 4500 or something. Can't you just change your options file to prevent the streaching? -------------------- |

ATi's cards alllow you to force aspect ratio change or to preserve it. Not sure about NVidia though as I haven't used any laptops with their chips.
