So i had this great idea that came from the difficulty of not being able to hit vehicles very well with artillery. It is sort of a combination of a RA3 Athena cannon and a rocket buggy. something like an avenger laser with artillery range would "light up" the target, then a missile launcher would fire an antivehicle missile that would track the target - which is continually being lased by the target designator. Is this even possible using SAGE? and how would it be done, if it is possible. balance issues aside, this would be a pretty sweet unit to play with...

That's basically the US Tomahawk Launcher with a laser strapped to it.

ok. sweet. and it would be less of a cruise missile and more of a tank destroyer shell (with tankdestroyer logic, this would be death to buildings)

I'm sure if you tweak some .INI files and change the model this is easily possible.

Yes it is possible, although it's tricky to do

You need to give the unit 2 weapons:

- The laser pointer weapon
- And the anti tank gun

The laser pointer weapon has to be a longer ranged to make it fire first.

Also you need to adjust the the rate of fire of the laser based on veterancy increase, cause when the laser fires too fast, the cannon won't fire.

Actually, now that I thought of it, Shockwave's laser Missile Defender and ROTR's upgraded Raptor and Nighthawk does the exact same thing.

Indeed, but the Raptor is bugged because it has a limit ammo (which counts for missiles and laser), but it occasionally does not fire the laser making it stay in the air actually unarmed - perfect target for enemy anti-air. I tried to fix this, however no solution yet sad.gif
