So two years ago I got Anno 2070 on summer sale and got pretty addicted to it... then for some reason Uplay just stopped working. Needless to say, despite the fact that I barely had a hundred hours logged, I absolutely loved the game.

Then THIS came out. I guess we came out of the shithole situation humanity was in in 2070.

It seems like the island system is kept from 2070 - excuse my ignorance as I haven't played the former games - and I guess instead of having the interaction between islands and underwater plateaus, you'll have a terrestrial-lunar trading network. Definitely getting this one day one... assuming that Uplay doesn't suddenly stop working again. The formulaic model of "buy first and get beta test" though... nah. Will probably just wait until the last day before and then order.

I'm very excited about it, but I don't have a lot of confidence in ubisoft at this point, so I will wait for reviews before I buy it.

Well, Anno 2205 came out today. And I've spent the last 6 hours or so doing nothing other than playing it, so it's pretty good tongue.gif

What did you think about it? It's absolutely gorgeous, but some areas feel less complex than previous ones... in a good way, though for some reason I can't see myself building up my gaming hours due to having only 9 maps.

True... although you really don't need to fill up the non-temperate ones, they cost a lot to maintain and I don't feel that much urge to fill it up, rather like the desolateness of having a small settlement in a big wilderness. I'm also experiencing a bug for one of the sector projects that I can't start the first quest in the series... hope they fix it fairly soon.

If you don't want to build large cities, then yeah. But I do want to build large cities, and my first arctic sector is already maxed out as far as the production of neuro-implants and quantum computers goes.

Yeah that's true, they use up a lot of neuroimplants.

I'm guessing the arctic strategy is to essentially line up your factories the long way to provide enough heat? That's how I've been doing it after some trial and error and I've found it to be fairly sufficient. These factories cost quite some power though; do you transfer power from the moon, or build and consume local methane? It takes up the water slots quite quickly to build all the methane miners, but then again you need the heat to house your workers...

I only use lunar power by now. I had some geothermal and gas power plants first, but I've replaced those with mines and factories now. Same goes for the temperate zones, where I used to have lots of tidal power plants, all of which I've replaced now with lunar power.
