Tesla Coils.

Tesla Coils are the brainchild of Nikolai Tesla, serb scientist, later perfected by Russian Scientist and infamous war criminal Nikita Ivanovich Alexandr. Alexandr had attempted to rename the coils after himself, but due to their iconic name, it remained Tesla coils.

Current model Tesla coils work by first creating a positive charge in the target area by intaking a large amount of air and stripping most of the electrons from it, this is done in the larger tower-based version by fans actually attached to the coils themselves. This causes the iconic "Spinning up" of a Tesla tower in action. The various atoms and molecules, now charged with high amounts of positive energy, are then fired out under magnetic charge, where it disperses and intermingles with the air near it's target. The air and the target itself would slowly lose electrons to the charged particles in the air. The tesla coil now releases all a large amount of negative charge into the coil structure. This charge will create what is essentially artificial lightning, frying it's target with lethal precision, while not as agile as American Lasers, with the Mutiny of General Townes, Aleksandr's coils are now the only Directed Energy Weapon (DEW) in military service that can destroy armored vehicles. His later Tesla Tank improved on his design, and his shock troopers are armed with smaller Tesla coils that are essentially "EMP Cannons" that disable vehicles while still having the power to fry infantry.

Thats because asians whether filipino, chinese, or actually japanese live like japanese people in vancouver anyway, simoen grow up and stop trolling on slavic generalizations and stereotypes. there is no hinting of racism in his post, or maybe its just the multi-cultrual [which includes EVERYTHING HERE IN WINNIPEG let alone in Canada as a whole] social atmosphere i grew up in.

Whale, when you make mention of how the charge is released in the form similar to lightning, you are aware that lightning starts on the ground and shoots upward, right? So what i am getting at since it may not be making sense to me when reading, is the charge arcing towards or away from the target [where there is a void of charged electrons in the air]. I would think away from the target due to the fact that you could label the "crown" of the tower as an artificially charged cloud/cell wherein the charge would be directed to. For example a unit moves within the range of the tesla coil which charges the electrons in the air on command and like a magnet it becomes the channeled point of the charged electrons which initially will travel into the unit from all directions and then up and out of the unit, arcing at the crown of the tower.

Oh boy you had to pick and try to make sense outta one of the craziest things in the game? Okay firstly I am almost sure Alek wouldn't wanna name the damn coil after himself. His MTG says this about his view of Tesla, "the legendary Serbian inventor whose eccentric quirks Aleksandr would consciously invoke for his own image." So yeah he would actually name it after Tesla TO invoke his name to ultimately improve his own image.

Naming the coil after himself would only make the whole deal look darker, it would have minimal positive impact on the public. On the other hand naming it after a legendary inventor would help give an otherwise cruel (and unnecessarily expensive) weapon a bright and acceptable name. It would also give Alek a better public reception. Hearing "some genius in a gasmask made Tesla's dream come true" is much better than hearing "some guy in a gasmask made some shady weapon". In a nutshell - he would invoke Tesla for his own reasons and wouldn't wanna name the coil after himself.

Secondly your whole theory misses the some important questions about the coil - how is the electricity is produced in middle of a warzone? How does the coil sustain such high and rapid changes in it's voltage and frequency level without malfunctioning? The way you are talking about ionizing the air... it would produce a good amount of heat, how is that disposed off? How does the coil's blast actually stay on target? Because you said it targets by ionizing the air around the target - sounds okay. But what after the target moves? The blast takes a while and by your logic it should hit where the target was previously standing and not where it is now. My idea about HVDC transmission and wireless electricity transmission is minimal and I don't get the answers to these questions. BTW instead of saying "The various atoms and molecules now charged with high amounts of positive energy" it would probably be more correct if you say "the positively charged ions".

Thirdly Townes revolting? Just curious - did you say that cause you don't wanna accept that the whole US killer laser thing in ZH was way too expensive and impractical and got scrapped for that reason by ROTR's time?

^ 'The Stories of Others Part III' does actually mention that Townes mutinied against the closure of his projects and locked down his base against the US Army, resulting in some sort of stand-off so as far as we're concerned, that bit is actually all right.

The only viable explanation for this tech with current knowledge is electro-lightning. Let's say the tower fires an invisible laser beam that ionizes the air/target and then a massive electrical discharge is fired. And even that is far from accurate since this is a frekin game with fictional technology.

IIRC when the Tesla Coil was first released in an update it had lore that explained how it worked and what serial wrote is pretty close to what was written back then.

And to those who came here for the sole purpose (let's be honest...) of flaming serial, the man already admits to being an idiot, so do yourselves a favor and stop falling for all his traps. It's embarrassing.
