SWR Productions Forum _ Rise of the Reds _ Favourite Unit Blobs

It took me an embarrasingly long time to realize how stupid it was to have one massive unit blob attack a base. Once the AA has shot down the aircraft it runs right at the Attack Move/Guard point and gets slaughtered. The support units are worse, usually ending up leading the blob. Now I break down my units into "divisions" that have specialized roles so I can minimize the micromanagement needed in PvE games.

Russia
Base Breaker (doubles as defensive force)
5 x Sentinel (with Warden Missiles)
4 x Msta
Artillery Division
9 x Msta

USA
Base Breaker
6 x Paladin
3 x Tomahawk Launcher
Anti-Aircraft
9 x Chaparral
Precision Air Strike
2 x Nighthawk

ECA
Base Breaker
6 or 9 x Leopard
3 x Mortar Track
Anti-Aircraft
6 x Wotan
3 x Gepard Flakpanzer

China
Base Breaker
5 x Overlord (With gattling turret)
4 x Inferno Cannon

In early game I tend to put individual helicopters in a group and send them to my secondary supplies (which the AI attacks as the closest threat). This lets me easily recall my helicopters to protect my base.

Feel free to add your attack groups you usually deploy for various factions.

Also your lack of anti infantry weapons disturb me
Only 2 nighthawks+3 tommahawks?

Which AI is this? Im not a PVE guy what so ever but this seems very small or the numbers very few to do any real damage even with superb micro

The idea is that the AA stays behind the assault force and shoots over the assault force to take out aircraft engaging them. This means I want to have enough AA to kill anything quickly. So I take the "no kill like overkill" route. Because the AA hangs back, there may be a limited time fighters etc are in range of the AA.

It's 1.85 Hard AI. The 1.86 patch doesn't work which also stops me from seeing Mizo's 1.87 work.

I think I see some confusion with the topic. I'm talking about what kind of groups are used. I use multiple base breaker groups, based on these "template" base breaker groups. I do use just one artillery/AA group usually.

I never play as the GLA or against the GLA so I'm safe from that. And since I play PvE I can keep the GLA out of my games.

If I played PvP I'd be using drastically different groups.

na im joking i prefer use nighthawks against those turtle ECA defenses
