Opening notes:

So I was talking to a friend, a few minutes ago.
Suggested her and her boyfriend to watch Avatar the Last airbender.A pretty nice animated show that tackles issues that everyone faces in their lives but manages to keep it PG.

Even if its a kids show and people roll their eyes over hearing a kids show being "amazing"
I was the same was till I watched it so give it a try if you havent yet-

Now for the main issue at hand:

After I suggested the series to her and her BF, my mind thought of how the legend of korra had advanced from the 30's to the mid 40's in its tech and many tributes it had to the old culture till I realised-

Was the Firenation in the original avatar series, the expansionist bad guys because they reached industrialisim before the others?

That and they had a nice marine doctrine,
Like its obvious that the earth nation was China, It screams china....
Would love to make a joke on how the extinct air nation is now Tibet but that'd be too easy,

Still thinking about the water nations too but yeah thats the bulk of the question: Would the fire nation be so agressive if it didnt have such a great edge?

I'm appalled that you did not talk about the better anime of them all.

And you better get a money back guarantee!

Ok seriously, they're literally imperial Japan. Think the original guy who started the war wanted to share the Fire Nation's tech with the world. So without the tech edge, there'd be no motive.

Also, it sort of makes sense the guys with infinite fire at their disposal figured out the combustion engine first. I mean, IIRC, most of their engines were literally guys just shooting fire into a boiler.
