Among the projects currently in construction for the 2016 Olympics a new one stands out. The Solar City will a grand design of engineering and environmental marvel. Providing solar power during the day and hydroelectric power during the night while offering visitors sightseeing and entertainment.

This is an amazing accomplishment for country dude brazil never fails to amaze me. You guys have so many excellent places and points of intrest. My family and I have booked a holiday for next year to visit. What are the waves like at your beaches as I'm tempted to take my short board with me if it's worth it smile.gif

Have fun man. If you ever have any questions before or during your trip just ask me and I'll try to help out.

What part of the country are you going to visit by the way?

I really like the look of this. If it actually works as advertised, this is exactly the kind of green technology we should be aiming for. Environmentally friendly but at the same time, commercially viable and conveying a positive attitude towards modern science with none of that backwards naive 'technology is generally bad so we should have less of it'-vibe given off by many of our greens who try to solve our problems by putting inefficient solar panels and windmills all over the country. But then again, we probably lack the geographical features to pull off something awesome like this.

It would be really amazing if we could this on a mass scale if it was more viable. Hydroelectric power from the Ocean seems a much better option than the rivers. The solar aspect during the day is also intriguing.

Maybe in the future.

We are staying in Rio but hope to branch out and check out other places if we can. Where would you suggest visiting?

Tough to say man its a big country. Not even I have seen everything that's good yet.

São Paulo has nice museums, theaters, lots of high rise buildings and skyscrapers and good eats and drinks if that's your sorta thing though it's massive.

To the northeast has Bahia and Pernanbuco. Historical towns preserved from as much as the late 1500s, nice beaches, nice scenery good resorts, good candy, about as African you can get outside the Africa. Everything there is pretty backwards but everything feels pleasantly simple.

Down South is a combination of culture and pleasure. Living standards here are much higher than the rest of the country, people are more reserved but still friendly. There's Fóz de Iguaçu too, the largest waterfall in the world by volume. There's also plenty of European influence around.

Up North has the Amazon if you are feeling adventurous. The mid-west has Brasilia, the capital, a must stop if you like architecture and the Pantanal.

Those are the things I can think off in the top of my head. I suggest you google around and go for what's most interesting.
