SpaceX's F9R test vehicle exploded yesterday during a test flight, after the flight termination system initiated the self destruct due to an engine anomaly.

Well at least they know that the self-destruct failsafe works now, hope fully there is enough of the rocket left for them to find out what the engine anomaly was.

They won't even need the rests of the rocket, The thing is stuffed to the brim with sensors, so they just have to go over the flight data. It'd doubtful an engine would survive that anyway.
