While it's nice they made another Clancy film, the man's a genius.
The problem? It's just taking the names, none of the story. Jack Ryan isn't James flipping Bond, he doesn't waltz around with a gun, that's John Clark's job. There's so many good books to base it on, Red Rabbit, The Debt of Honor Trilogy, Rainbow Six, Clear and Present Danger, ETC ETC ETC. Why just take the name? I mean, The Debt of Honor Trilogy is just begging to get banned in China, Japan, and Iran (Although who gives a shit about the latter), we can always give the old "Rogue Element" handwave.
