Hey everyone. I wrote this at the request of Knjaz for 1.87 testers, however we feel that it would benefit the entire community if we released this publicly.

This patch makes a few fixes (detailed in the ReadMe which you should really read) to Rise of the Reds which should improve performance significantly (if you read the ReadMe included as well) in Rise of the Reds 1.85 and 1.86, even with Knjaz's RGO patch (this patch is compatible with it).

We finally had some games involving Russia & China with framerate levels that haven't been seen since Rise of the Reds 1.802. Good feeling, really good one. I remembered RotR like it once was.

And yes, information in readme is correct - on test map this thing provided up to 4 times FPS increase for Chinese and Russian secondary eco, depending on configuration. In our actual games, FPS increase is also massive.

Without the patch on test map full of listening posts. Fps for me of 16 when all are deployed
With the patch on the same map fps of 33 when all are deployed.

We just had a game , 2v2, where both China and Russia clocked over a Million credit, with relatively lag free match. It's glorious people.
Also I recommend everyone to turn off their 3D shadows, as it reduces the chances to get crashes + less lag.

and the issue with 3D shadows that was accidentally found during these tests too. Skitt and you probably had your longest tear gas strike streak without game crashing in last months tongue.gif

Hopefully, if we manage to spread news and this thing among playerbase, game quality should improve massively, both due to reduction of crashes and vastly increased game speed.

Not only that, but I stared at 5 Pandora shots without crashing, usually 1 or 2 would cause the next one to crash. ( You'd have to literally look away from the blast because SAGE).

Oh right. If you wish to test the performance changes for yourself.

Get Gentools, uncap your Frames per Second, and check these maps out with and without the patch.
(obviously, you should unpack these 3 files into Maps folder of your C&C Generals Zero Hour Data folder where your Maps and Replays are, not the main folder where your RotR is intalled into)

They did crash the game?
I did play some matches with Pandora shooting over 10 times without any crashes. Actually this never happened to me.
Great work on this patch btw.
But i have the question: did this patch fix tear gas problem?(I won't be able to read readme file for some time, so sorry if this information is there)

I'm 99.9% sure that the old ugly (by today's ROTR standards) models won't be used in 1.87. However, with some additional research on why exactly the new models cause the FPS drops and the old ones don't, some optimization can be made, and 1.87 will keep the beautiful new models while having much better performance, like with this patch.

we think thats the 3d shadows option thats causeing that.
weve had no crashs/missmatchs from tear/nerve gas since disabling it in our options dureing test games.
