Crappy AI sometimes, see title

Not sure if this should be in Support, but probably not. I know the AI is kinda tied to the maps, but sometimes the AI is just retarded. Not attacking, etc. Sometimes the Medium AI is harder than the Hard AI. Sometimes the Medium AI doesn't do much, but switch it to hard and it wipes the map (if teaming w CPU vs other CPU players).

Speaking of AI, any good AI files to try out to make comp stomping more interesting? I know of this topic but have been hesitant to use the file (not that I ever play online) http://forums.swr-productions.com/index.php?showtopic=10922

If 1.87 makes AI changes, I'll probably start playing it.
Any good maps out there or *better* maps that come w/ 1.86?

I'm about to install it right now. My main thing with the AI is that I'm basically forced to turtle, and then steamroll the computer. At least with standard generals, I could make it more exciting by doing 1 v 2 or 1 v 3s, but with rotr I can do max 1 hard and 1 medium and even then sometimes the medium AI doesn't really contribute all that much, but 2 hards and I'm the one getting steamrolled by an onslaught of units haha.

Playing vs a human is always gonna be more fun, obviously. I just get so annoyed at mismatches though. I may have to try to set up SWR.net correctly and try it, maybe it'll be better than last time I tried.

Ok, never mind the first reply. I just installed 1.87 and got absolutely destroyed on Medium (which is NOT the same Medium from 1.86 that's for sure!) on the map Peaceful neighborhood (Russia v China). I had several buildings, and when I surrendured it looked like they had an entire freaking fortress built. Was attacked head on (weak wave) and a heavy flank attack.

I think it's China anyway, could have been GLA you know how you click one thing and whatevers below registers instead sometimes.

I think I'll try on Noob difficulty for a while sad.gif

each time smb starts a topic with some complains about AI and says he likes to play "1 v 2 or 1 v 3s", but can't due to new AI became hard, i feel special pleasure, basically they grow some villain in me. X)

what i wait from your new AI the most is more realistic economy, 'cause it's the only thing kinda spoiling current Medium for me - attack on eco have no value due to money-cheat; whatever poor situation i have AI is always full with money; and yet this bastard tries to gather all possible resources on small maps, with better funds to defend his mining %)

Nooo tongue.gif I'm actually enjoying the AI now. I love the fact they tend to randomly pick between different strategy styles, depending on the faction. I used to play against Brutal AI in 1.86, now I'm limiting myself to Medium laugh.gif

Maybe there could be a checkbox option in skirmish for "hardcore mode AI" in the next version so people don't complain the AI is too difficult? That sounds like it might be a quite complicated to code though. ohmy.gif

AI doesn't pick a random strategy at the moment. It just has a fuckton of attack teams to pick from (which kinda slows down the game). The newer AI will kind of implement a 2.0-ish theme, as in it has a 3 strategy routes to go with, each one being very different from the others, their bases are built slightly differently ect..regardless of what strategy the AI picks, they will always follow the generic faction theme.

Take USA as an example, while it can either go tank/drone/infantry support routes, it will always show air superiority , with variations of their air arsenal depending on their initial strategy.

This means less predictability and better CPU preformance. But I am going to be adjusting them in a way that harrassing them actually hurts them.

I can go full-in RGO AI no restrictions in a fanpatch. No morr restrictions.
