I am playing the General's challenge as Kasad and Laser General is my opponent. The game is freezing and hogging ram so I am thinking I probably caught a bug. I want to post the savefile here but it is too large. I compressed it with winrar but that filetype isn't allowed it seems. Any suggestions on how to post it?

1. I do not quite understand what exactly the big deal with number of upgrade slots. How are they restricted? GLA has far more upgrades than any US faction. Generally 3 or more at the Palace and 6 or more at the Black market. Is it about the build space?

It's about game coding. 128 is the bitter maximum, thank EA for that.

2. I have not been dropped into this forum from space. I know all too well that CnC Generals decided to called the US standard jet as the "Raptor" modeled after the plane designated the "F-22" with an official nickname Raptor. But that's what the original game did. This is a modification of it. I like military designations as they add an extra nice feel to the individual units. It was a mere suggestion not the law. No need to get overworked over it.

Then consider what the makers do the better decision, ok?

3. I frequently use the edit button as evident throughout the thread (including the first post). Please note that that response was to a response to a post by Destiny who thought I did not know how to use quotations. I explained why what happened did happen. Please review the issue again before commenting on it. It really was something minor and I see no reason to make a mountain out of it.

4. Have you even read what I said? Are you implying no unit can be ever renamed regardless of the reason? Even the mere suggestion is banned? In few words. The plane is nicknamed WRONG. Each of the two prototypes had an individual nickname the black one was called "Black Widow" and I wager it was more stealth. The one the game uses is gray and should be named "Gray Ghost". Just trying to clarify what I see as a potential problem. Clearly there is a disconnect with your post and what I pointed out.

There is no disconnection between your post and my answer. If there was, I would not argue with you. AGAIN: your point is invalid. Do you call the Hanomag Camel in RL? No. Is the T-28 Base Destroyer called 'Basilisk' in RL. Neither. The name is Black Widow because of the simple reason the admins like it nad several people here use it as well. Simple as that. This is a GAME, not everything is realistic.

I have not seen any tip on behavior so far. Aside from "we don't accept suggestions" which I understand is mostly for newer units - something I did not ask, ever. If developers don't want something I suggest, they'll disregard it. I am sorry but I am not entirely sure what you are referencing...

Double post? I suppose you suggest that I should start entire new threads instead of additional posts now on. The issue I posted later was not a reply to your post. It was not additional info.

Umm... No one is seeking to make the game more realistic. I merely suggested a possible name change (or coloring the plane black). You are making a big deal out of it.

Ignorance is menkinds greatest accomplishment, you know? You just reached it. Calling a respected 'senior' member on a forum a hostile flamer is quite low. I am normally a rather kind and calm person, but you really managed it to make consider to bash you. I will refrain from it because I know ethical standards.

That aside, on-topic: what is your problem with the whole thread? I explained everything, as did many others. The Black Widow, for example, is the official unit name. It had been since its introduction. If you cannot accept that or other things, this is not my problem, neither one of the mod makers.

You are unnecessarily being bitter. Give him a chance, even though most of his suggestions have either been suggested before or are impossible, he doesn't know that.

Just skimming this thread myself, I feel this thread is trying to cover to many topics which seem to be quite trivial. Shockwave is going on the back burner on low heat and "Simmering" away. My best guess is to wait a few months after the majority if the team finish Collage exams/assignments and settle down from this year. My mother always hates the beginning of the year as it is the busiest part of the year. I agree with her and so should a "few" other studying or working members of the forum. I feel this thread should be closed and seperate threads should be created as three major topics are being covered in a unmanagable way. Bugs and balance suggestions should be done support, Issues and tactics should be in battle bunker and unwelcome cosmetic suggestions and trivial ideas/reponeses should not have a place here in the forum. It was a nice try White Cat to be some what sophisticated in combining those three areas into one thread but it was doomed to fail from the start since your motive wasn't justified. To sum it up I think this thread should be closed and child threads should be opened in sister sub groups in the ShockWave forum for everyones benefit.

First: welcome to the forums, White cat!

Concerning your suggestions: many of them seem strongly biased towards singleplayer- mode.
Chinas mortar-guys, for example, may be annoying pests if you try to hide in your base, but they encourage the use of units (instead of defensewalls), which is a really good thing in multiplayer (turtling sure gets boring if EVERYONE does it).

Making Ironsides defenses better is also a no-go: It's difficult enought to beat him as tank-general already (since his defenses are IIRC not vulnerable to ECM- attacks, and thus a major hindrance).


If you enjoy playing against the AI, try beating JJ's upgraded challenges (unzip the attached file to where shockwave.exe is).
Also check out the AI-challenge. It's about conquering the AI under certain constraints (like building only infantry)- the hardest challenge is still unbeaten! [/shameless self-advertisement]

And dont mind people being a bit grumpy (or even downright hostile)- it'll fade in time...

Shockwave is a mod for zero hour that "keeps the spirit and design direction of the original Generals game and storyline"

Conclusion:

No buildable unit in Shockwave will use it's designation as it's name, instead they will use their "nickname"

1)Don't ever use the word suggestion in a SWR forum. That is like bathing in kerosene and waiting for the flaming to begin.
2)If you want to make a bug report please do so in the appropriate forum. You may want to search to see if your bug was reported before hand. There's nothing worse than looking into a bug report and its something that is already fixed in our internal beta or is underway.
3)We're an old community. Think of it as a foreign country. We've been doing things in a certain way for a long time and a disruption of that norm can be quite chaotic. So try to be as understanding to us as some of our members were accepting towards you.
